Thanks so much for this. I had a rattle in the rear passenger door since we picked up our model y a few months ago. It’s 90 miles to the service center, so with your help I popped the panel and found one panel clip was accidentally installed incorrectly. They are designed with a plastic compression spring on the female side, but it wasn’t compressed. Pulled it out and reinstalled correctly. All good! Thanks again.

Great video. One important correction though: You CAN still raise and lower the window after disconnecting the door light connector by simply using the window switches on the driver’s door. Also, it’s not explicitly shown in the video, but you also have to disconnect a cable (which I believe is connected to the door latch) which clips to the big black plastic part before you can remove it. (You can see the cable in the video dangling when the guy is removing the window seal. It has a yellow plastic piece towards the end of the cable.)

Thanks for posting this video! I was swapping out the stock puddle lights for projector Tesla logo lights. One of the OEM lights somehow popped inside of the door panel while I was attempting to remove it. Your video walked me through the process perfectly as to how I could retrieve it.

thanks for video; did you happen to notice if there is a child lock mechanical switch hidden somewhere under panel? I really want to lock only one door where car seat is, and thinking to remove the panel and disconnect the switch wire; any advice is appreciated

thx, tesla added selective door lock in software since then, so this is resolved by now@@mikehill1613
