Anyone in the car modification scene can share any info on how much it would cost to gain an additional 100HP - is it more or less than $2000?
@mattwebb201825 күн бұрын
Really depends on the car, some are going to require major upgrades that could easily exceed $2k, while some cars might literally just need a tune which could be less than $1k. Generally speaking, most mid to high end (40k-120k) modern sports cars, an extra 100 to the wheel will prob end up around that 2k mark, if you don't do that work yourself.

@@mattwebb2018 but if you do any of those things then you will lose your warranty so this is better
@cravensleepwalker580416 күн бұрын
@@alstonmiller212 That's just something that haters that can't afford mods and the car companies tell you. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act states that a car manufacturer cannot void your vehicle's warranty simply because you installed performance upgrades or aftermarket parts, unless they can definitively prove that the modification directly caused the problem that needs repair. And even if they prove that, they cannot void your entire warranty, they can only choose to not repair or reimburse for that particular claim.

John… Do you own a Model LR? The only thing the boost does is make it slightly faster. It doesn’t get any of the suspension and brake upgrades, it doesn’t get any of the exterior styling and functionality, it doesn’t get the track mode (I assume) and the other software, it doesn’t get the sport seats and maybe most of all, it doesn’t have the 4DU motor. The boost is a fun upgrade, but it’s very misleading to tell people watching your videos it has “all the Upgrades” of the M3P. This isn’t the prior M3LR vs M3P where just getting the boost brought them much closer together.
@heyJohnEe26 күн бұрын
I made it pretty clear near the end of the video that you’ll miss out on those aesthetics and if you’re into that then the perf is for you, otherwise the LR with boost beats it in range and comfort and is perfectly suited for 99 percent of people. But yup you make good points that the performance model is still superior in many ways I agree

I honestly think they'll do the same thing with the M3P. It'd be sacrilegious for it to wear a "Ludicrous" badge without an actual setting for it. I'm hoping I can snag one next month if they make some color options tax-credit eligible again at a reasonable APR. It's killing me to wait, but I'm thinking it'll be worth it in the long run.

Turning on “Sport Mode” after buying the acceleration boost doesn’t affect mileage, I’ve personally tested this myself and can confirm. But what does affect mileage is how hard you mash the pedal because its much more enticing now

@heyJohnEe So you're saying if I drive it conservative on chill mode, I'll still get the same mileage? Now? Now that does mean that it's worth it to me, if it does not affect distance unless I want it to by just driving way too sporty.

Insurance 3200 usd per year, and 2400 usd for tires (not including service) every 22,000 mils. And don’t damage your bumper, you pay twice as much.
@trythis282124 күн бұрын
Cheapest comprehensive insurance I found is $850 AUD for Model Y in Australia. Tyroola in Australia have tires starting at $104 AUD each, I'd give them a go at a pinch. If you drive relaxed the tires will last a lot longer. Regarding maintenance the car notifies when needs a service. Sentry mode records if someone damages your bumper. Make of this what your will, it is possible to not spend mountains of money.

As soon as it drops I’m getting it !!! Besides styling wouldn’t you say the handling is much better on the performance , well it’s made specifically for this. My refresh LR is fast but in corners it gets away from itself. Are you saying with this boost the LR will now get better handling 🤔🤔

No only hp increase. Handling is the same. Highland SR/LR are designed for comfort and efficiency and not performance and handling. Only thing I dont like about Highland vs legacy is that the handling is noticeably worse. Thats the price of comfort suspension+tires.

@@heyJohnEe for shop rollout I just mean the method of wich acceleration boost “upgrade” is provided (for me it is in the shop), is it like a software update where there are many waves of people getting (getting the opportunity to buy) the upgrade at a given time or is it like regional at once ? @heyJohnEe24 күн бұрын
That’s true
@TarequlSifat25 күн бұрын
The question is not if is worth the money. The question is if it is worth the potential extra wear on the motor and battery. I mean that’s why Tesla chargers extra for it. Because, there is more chance of warranty claims in a boosted car? If not then it is just a ripoff for performance that’s already in the car.

@heyJohnEe26 күн бұрын
Haha then the price would be increased by $2000 upfront, even for those who don’t need it
@lczspeed26 күн бұрын
Traditional production gasoline and diesel powered vehicles and also supersport motorcycles never give the full power up front. You have to find an ECU tuner who can unlock the locked ECU and then spend hours dialing everything in perfectly on the dyno. Essentially the more expensive models higher in the trim range come with more performance stock.
@heyJohnEe26 күн бұрын
@lczspeed yup what he said too 👆
@Carbonatedballsack25 күн бұрын
@lczspeed some cars do have lower trims with a detuned engine, but usually, the rest of the specs match that and are also lower (meaning there's an actual cost saving). 100hp is still quite a bit and doesn't typically happen without any other changes (like a tesla). Sometimes, the required changes are as simple as wider tires.
@homosapien603125 күн бұрын
Also… more performance = more wear on the tires, etc. the car is fast, but currently still built for longevity. This kinda nullifies that I think. So if you’re the niche car enthusiast, go ahead. If not; don’t.
