You need to stop using that extension cord; it could catch fire and burn your place down. Since the extension cord is heating up, that's saying the extension cord is not rated for the power your charger is drawing. It already looks scorched so that further deteriorates the power that can go through that extension cord. You should find a different outlet and plug your charger directly, without an extension cord, into the outlet. If you must have an extension cord, get the shortest one possible, with one that uses 12/3, or ideally 10/3, gauge wire.

The black color is very soft and prone to scratches. You should wash it yourself with the 'two bucket method'. First high pressure wash the car, then foam the car with a foam gun. Then spray off the foam of after 5-10 minutes. Then use the two buckets for soap and cleaning the washmitt. Lots of videos about that. Then dry with heavy duty, large microfiber towel. And all in the shade, don't want the car drying up because of the sun. Any real detailing shop where they do paint corrections, can instruct you on the specifics. There are a couple of Californian TeslaTubers with affiliations or experiences with various detailing shops.

Re your sometimes intermittent tethering: Anytime you’re having a problem with an application (any application) try doing these steps; quit and re-launch the app (in this case the Settings app), (still NG?), restart the phone , (still NG), reset the Network Settings (you’ll have to re-enter all passwords for everything you ever connected), (still NG?), if it was other than a built-in app, delete and reinstall the app, (still NG), reset (erase) the phone but if you’re restoring everything and it includes a corrupted app this may not work. Of course, before doing any of these operations sometimes toggling the function, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, OFF and ON works along with “Forget This Network” and then trying re-joining.

I have AWD with FSD. Also in LA.. I don't charge at home. Never have (Took delivery Sept. 30, 2019). I have two years free Super Charging and with very convenient locations in Pasadena and Glendale, Heck. No complaints whatsoever. There is also no battery degradation. The range at full charge although only done that in prep for trips a couple of times is over 315 miles. I never monitor miles, only amount of energy left as range can and will vary. I must say that it does seem pretty darn consistent. I did try plugging in to the standard 110 outlet to charge in the garage and nothing happens. Someone said I need to adjust the max amps way down for that? Have not done that yet. How about you? Regarding wash and care of the car, I rinse it with a hose in my driveway and then use a spray detailer and Rainx glass cleaner between washes. I have actually only hosed it down a few times and mostly use the spray detailer about once a week as that pretty much maintains that showroom new mirror shine ( Red multi coat). Thinking about it, It is probably due for a hose down about now. The updates have indeed been amazing. However, Spectrum sent me a new router and modem and the WiFi signal no longer reaches my garage :( . So now in order to get updates, I drive a little over a mile away to the Pasadena Tesla store and get on their WiFi to obtain the download, then install at home. No big deal. Usually do it enroute or as an excuse just to take Lucille for a spin. ( well actually, she takes me for a spin). The car now does go through green lights ( when AP is engaged) as long as there is a lead car in front of you. If not, it will in fact stop. You have to hit the gear stalk down or press the accelerator pedal in advance prior to the intersection to keep er' moving. Amazing vehicle!!!!!

Thanks, Shelby. Your power consumption is low. The fact that you can't tell how much power it is using is a very significant indicator. If it was a lot of power, your or your roommates would be complaining. A Model 3 with a passenger and some cargo, like a suitcase, would be typically 240 Wh/mile. 240 * 80 miles on a night's charge = 19k Wh. With about 20 cents per KWh (not sure I live in WA where it is only .08) but anyway that is only $3.42 per day on a slow charge. So, if charging every day on 110V, it is only about $90 per month. You probably only charge 20 days per month so that would make it about $60 per month. That is totally good deal! esp considering a Honda Civic running near those miles would cost over $400 per month in gas, then you have oil changes, etc.

This comes from "ElSupreme": You need to use E=MC^2 to determine the mass differential. or you can just put 85kWh into WolframAlpha. 85kWh in g - Wolfram|Alpha SO a fully charged Tesla ends up being 0.000003405 grams heavier, which now makes it "micrograms". And to put that in perspective, a teaspoon is about 4.5 grams. Whaaaat....ever! That is so cool!

The scratches would be perfect for a collab with Ammo NYC!

Yeah definitely get a outlet on the wall for the charger or the extension cord might catch on fire.

I've used an express wash for my Model 3 and haven't seen any damage to the paint from it. $20/month for unlimited washes. Before COVID-19 I'd run it through once a week, now it's less frequent. Also I think your electricity cost estimate is way high. For Christmas 2018 we drove from SoCal to Denver and the total cost of supercharging was $97. Round trip.

Shelby, Your cars Cord has availability of a 120V Plug, and if you park it closer to the plug, you shouldn't need the Extension cord! To see how much $ it costs, there are 120V Power Monitoring Devices, to see how much your Computer, Fridge, or other 120V item, uses! They cost $20 to $40, or $50, tops!

Use F11 for the paint it prevents scratches and fill’s them in a little bit. It’s a little expensive but works good.
@michaelkerr45454 жыл бұрын
You can polish the scratches out. It’s basically a night and day change

Hear ya, Shelbs! That’s why I went with white (wouldn’t see the swirls nearly as much) and did the full wrap. That was exactly my concern too. Can’t wait for 🔋 day next week!

I disagree about it being difficult not being able to charge at home. I don't have a charger at home (not even a normal wall outlet in the garage) and I still love it! I charge probably once every 10 days or so and that's totally enough for getting around the city. You may have to adjust your routines a bit but it's far from "absolute nightmare"!

FSD package stops and stop signs/red lights, and will proceed through green lights when following another vehicle or with driver acknowledging it’s safe to continue through the light.

You should tint your windows. In my opinion tinted windows always look nice in a car especially living in a sunny climate like here in LA

@Shelby. Few things. Car with FSD package can stop on traffic lights already, u just don't have it. Black paint was a mistake for sure, white is way better, no micro scratches will be seen even, if u get it scratched. Get level 2 or low down the Amp amount when u charge over the night or you gonna BURN the house down!!! And last, in the left lower corner if u swipe from left to right, u get mileage screen where by swiping up, u get to last screen with total mileage and energy used during that time. you can take that and X those 17 cents or what was the price per kWh. PS! That of course only shows how much u used during driving, not including Sentry mode usage or pre-heating/cooling the car before the use.

They have released the stopping for stop signs and stop lights. You just need the full self driving package.

Thank you for your initial video. You were one of the main reasons for my Model 3 mid range purchase! The car has its pro’s and some con’s but this is by far the best car I have ever owned.

If I am not mistaken, Shelby, I think Full Self Driving does stop at stop signs and stop lights.

10:40 Get a "smart plug" you will be able to track the power consumption for a single power outlet.

When you wash a car make sure to only use a wash mit in a straight line (easier to paint correct if scratched) and make sure not to use a towel or mitt when there is dirt/ dust since it will scratch it
@TedKidd4 жыл бұрын
If you take your car to car washes, probably best to learn to ignore/ NOT see swirls in your paint.

I've seen other videos where the Tesla do stop for red lights and stop signs. But I think you need the full self driving package and the accept terms and conditions in the settings for it to work.

If Model 3 is too low to enter your driveway u should get a LW RWD Model Y. Standard Range Model Y got canceled so that would be the cheapest and than LR dual you get where I’m going.

Hey, Shelby, enjoyed your video. I'm not surprised you love your Model 3. I love mine, too. Best car ever. Just a word of advice on home charging. An extension cord is fine as long as it and the circuit you plug into can handle the amps your car is drawing which is limited to 12 amps when using the 120V adapter. If your extension cord is the heavier duty 12 gauge wire, you should be fine. The charring of the plug tells me that you are getting arcing in the outlet. I would have that outlet replaced with a higher quality one.

😇Shorter Thicker Cord😇 Buy the extra heavy-duty 110 volt cord at the hardware store off a role, also get professional grade cord ends, then make your custom cord, it's easy. Don't use adapters and try to use a wall outlet instead of the ceiling. This is faster charging and much safer.

Hi Shelby! Love that you’re also so positive about your Tesla! Mine will turn 1 in August and I’m also still super happy with it! On the scratches: I always wash my car by hand (I have a red one btw) and also have those scratches. Always use water and soap... Luckily it’s not super visible on the red but they’re definitely there :(

5:50 same issues here. Usually switching hotspot off and on in the iPhone settings makes it work. Also when you put it in drive it will disable wifi and you need to reconnect that’s quite inconvenient

I discovered this vlog when you first bought your Tesla. I bought my Model 3 shortly before you did, and my one-year review is just as enthusiastic as your review. I have found, on a road trip, that some Superchargers are a little difficult to find. One was way in the back of the parking lot, and another was inside a multi-level parking garage that charged $1 to enter the garage. It seems that most Superchargers in rural areas are along the Interstate highways, so our road trips need to use Interstate highways. Maybe the Supercharger availability is better in California because that is the home of Tesla Corporation and probably the most concentrated location of Tesla owners.
