Tesla Model 3 RWD Standard to Premium Audio Subwoofer - Hansshow Version A - Detailed Installation

Tesla 2023 Model 3 RWD with standard audio. The Standard equipment has a good bass, but I wanted to get something more like the LR or Performance setup. This is a great plug and play option, without the need of splicing wires. Installation can take about 1-2 hours. Make sure the Low Voltage and High Voltage battery are disconnected before installation, if there is a need to reconnect both battery, make sure everything is plug in before doing so. Once done, REMEMBER to disconnect both batteries again before continuing with the installation. This video is not in any way sponsor by Hansshow or I have any affiliation with them.
The results, so far the system is performing as intended, I didn't get any error or issues after installation, windows and doors are working as expected. The extra bass added is in my opinion the same or better than the LR or Performance. I have been able to test a Model Y Performance and Model 3 LR and to my ears both sounds the same to the Model 3 RWD.

Hey, revisiting the install video you posted. Looks like Hansshow pulled there Model 3 SR Premium Audio Upgrade due to the issues with software etc. By chance are you experiencing a thumping sound while call audio is off and you're in park? I hear a phantom sound coming from the sub. Do you have this issue at all?

I get sometimes if the car is parked for a while (especially after work), a thumping noise coming from the dashboard driver side speakers. It might make the noise like two or three times and it goes away. Most of the time when I get in I play music, so I never hear that noise. Regarding the phantom from the Sub, I don't have that issue. The issue with the Hansshow kit was the navigation voice. I rarely use the navigation and to be honest for me it sounds the same. Sadly they took it out of stock. That kit has a great potential, especially with so many RWD out in the streets.

Hello, so I installed a cable about 8 months back in my 2023 RWD Tesla Model 3 and I saw this video with the subwoofer. Is the kit all one cable? Or is the subwoofer cable separate from the cable the activates the the 4 speakers? Awesome video!!

Happy to help 👍, yeah the harness that activates the 4 speakers is a completely different harness. I had it before and I didn't notice too much of a difference. I ended up switching to the version A. The version A harness has extra wires for the subwoofer, power and two rear speakers.

Great question, I left the wires ready to be installed when needed for the rear speakers. I was looking for more of an immersive bass experience and that's what I found with this kit, the RWD has a great front immersive sound, but was missing that immersive bass. Another thing is that my rear deck doesn't have the speakers grill as older versions, therefore I will need to drill two holes to put the speakers and a set of speaker grill covers, I prefer to keep my cars looking stock as possible. The rear speakers will add an extra beat for sure but in my case being a sole driver most of the time, the front speakers do a great job in my case. Any other questions let me know. Happy to help 👍

Finally installed the the Version A kit. Thank you to your video everything was pretty seamless. Only real pain is hiding wires and getting to plugs in tight spaces. What are the best settings to configure the sub at? When received the "FREQ" and "SUB GAIN" were set to the highest. I have my tesla equalizer set at 7.0 and notice to hear high feedback bass. I tried adjusting the nob that came with it but doesnt seem to help the high feedback bass. For example if someone is singing / rapping the bass goes along with voice instead of the beat. Please let me know what you recommend for good quality listening.

I discovered today that there’s an article out by autoevolution. People are experiencing the exact same issues that I am. Turns out Hannshow pulled all there audio cabling. Now when you navigate the page shows “not found”.

Better upgrade would've been the hansshow premium upgrade harness with a JL audio 10" tw1 subwoofer microsub+ hidden in the sub trunk 😉 (12" sub if you're willing to trim a bit of the sub trunk carpet).

Yes, for the 2023-22 All 4 (front pillars and two tweeters, the kit as well comes with the rear speakers if you want to add it.

Same or better as the performance or LR. (Bass related). The performance and LR have some extra speakers, which the kit has as well to give you a more immersive sound. I haven't installed the rear speakers yet, but in my opinion it sounds amazing even without those speakers. The bass before was more focused in the front...you couldn't feel anything from the rear (as the LR and performance), now with this, you can feel a more immersive bass. Any question let me know.

Then jump ahead at kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJTJn2VogduMbK8 you had a ground type addition on the bolt you tightened. Was that ground cable there before or was this added for something else?

Great question, the ground was already there from factory. That piece of plastic is held by three bolts, that bolt in that corner by the light has a ground wire.

This subwoofer/amp requires a 12V ground, does the included wire come with a step down kit? Because the Tesla penthouse battery on the 2023 is 16V.

Even though it has a 16v battery, the whole kit works perfectly with it. Maybe it's lower at the penthouse.

once the harness is fully installed activating my 4 speakers and adding the rear 2. Will the remanding harness facilitate me adding my own (nvx) subwoofer and amp? I don’t want to install that hansshow sub unless i absolutely have to. Also do they sell the harness only?

They don't sell the subwoofer harness by itself, but that's a great question. There is a Alpine subwoofer PWE-S8 that is the same design, harness connector type as the hansshow. No sure if the NVX kit will work with hansshow harness. I doubt it. For what I saw online the NVX kit adds the subwoofer only, it won't activate the 4 extra speakers dormant in the RWD.

Did you order the RHD or LHD version? I ordered the LHD one and just finally got around to installing it, but the smaller top bracket that attaches to the top of the sub bends the opposite way at the end from yours so I can't get it to screw into the original hole.

I ordered the LHD, the metal bracket that holds the subwoofer is tricky, the first time I tried it wouldn't fit, I had to turn it around and then it fit.

Just got the nvx kit sub for 22 red model 3 it’s wayyy more expensive then hanshow but reputable an heard good things, it’s supposed to be even better then this sub he put in. But it is a bit pricey but going cheap is not always the best option want something that is quality a can last very long time especially cranking it up. 718$ on nvx website. Custom fit for any trim of Tesla model 3 2017-2022!

Option 1 is to get a used rear deck from eBay to make it look as OEM as possible, option 2 is to open a set of holes align with the deck and get a set of speaker cover/grill I found one on Amazon that fit well. But I didn't find the need to add the rear speakers (in my case) it is already loud enough and the bass is way better. To run it to the rear deck is not that hard. Just need to remove both rear pillars cover, disconnect I believe three wires are attached to the deck, put the seat down and remove a few push pins holding the deck. It should slide out easily.

That's the subwoofer controller. It helps to add or remove more bass. The kit with a discount at their site during checkout came up to around $385.

Sorry you are going thru that, share more about the issue that you are having. I'm running the latest Tesla update available and I'm not having any issues at all. The only issue reported so far was the GPS direction voice. In my case I couldn't hear any difference between my neighbor's MYP and My RWD with hansshow. I saw a video recently of someone supposedly explaining how to fix the GPS voice by hacking something on the hansshow harness.

Ahhh it is a 16volt battery no more 12v that should help less worries connecting an amp an subwoofer. 12v I guess is having a hard time with having all that drawn power from the aftermarket equipment amp, sub throwing a error code low battery something like that. Why you need a 16v battery now. Not sure how accurate that is

Only issue with a 2023 RWD is there is no speaker covers in the back. I have a 2023 RWD as well but havnt found any kits that can make this installation look OEM for the back two speakers. Any ideas or recommendations?

The Hansshow has a set of rear speakers, but a subscriber reported an issue with white noise coming out from one of the rear speakers, even replacing the harness didn't fix the issue. The best way to go OEM is to get a used rear deck from a 2021-2022 and add the speakers using the OEM rear deck... that was my idea initially, but ended up leaving it without the rear speakers, just the subwoofer was enough for me.

Sadly no,. It comes with a controller to increase or decrease bass. I keep mine in the glove box.

I am thinking about making some holes betweens the "hooks" on the board in the rear, you can reach that from inside the car, no one will see the bottom of the speakers if they open the trunk, and you can make some holes there just big enough for the speakers...and on the inside you just put some speakergrills....at least that's my plan when my kit arrives 🙂

Yes the same wire has all the wires together. My advice once you run all the wires is to test the rear speakers before drilling anything to make sure everything is working. Someone reported having some white noise on the left speaker. I didn't install my rear speakers though. I was looking for a more immersive bass. I even bought the rear grills from Amazon, but ended up returning them once I heard the whole system with the subwoofer installed.

@@kaimanson3174 I installed the kit today, everything seems to work, also the extra speakers (i didn't drill the holes yet, just tested them...) What did you do with the settings on the subwoofer? I put the settings a bit higher (as standard they are in the middle), and the "pushing" knob i pushed that one in..(at 180°, alltough i don't know what it exactly means, i played with the knob and didn't hear lots of difference...) And i also don't hear any difference if i play with the remote controller...but at least it works! :-) Maybe some finetuning with the settings...

Hi! Quick question, I also have a 2023 Model 3 RWD. Is the active subwoofer compatible with the 15.5v battery system in the newer cars? I've messaged a few audio shops and they're all telling me they don't have any amps compatible with the 2023 tesla model 3's battery system. And this is the Version A AMD Ryzen 2022+ version right? There is some text in the description of Hansshow's website that says "Model 3 2022+ AMD Ryzen only available for the DIY version currently.", do you know what that means? Were you still able to order the version A anyways? Thanks!

Correct I have the Version A that comes with the subwoofer+ harness and two rear speakers. I couldn't find info from hansshow confirming the battery system as well, but it states that it works with a 2022, it should work as well with a 2023 (2022 and 2023 have lithium 12v battery), and so far it has been working fine. I read something as well about the 12v being 15.5v with those with the lithium 12v battery, but maybe there is something in the line that makes it go down to 12v. Someone can shine in with more info.

I didn't install my rear speakers so I can't comment on that, someone else here reported having an issue with "white noise" on the rear speakers (driver side I believe). Even replacing the harness didn't fix it for him.

Got my kit today. Installed it, and the sub isn't powering on. I checked the plug pins with a meter, and there's full power, so now I'm at the mercy of support, I guess.

Send them a text thru Whatsapp, they have a # on the instructions. Are you able to see the blue light coming on?. @1:23 check that the harness' connector that is going into the sub has all the pins aligned with the sub connector.

@@SpikyMetal wait for their Whatsapp response, and do yourself a favor and record a video showing the voltage with the tester on the harness (showing that there is power on the harness), then plug it into the sub and show them that the subwoofer is not coming on. In that way you will not need to explain the whole thing about the power etc etc... in text. You can send that video thru Whatsapp whenever they reply to you. Hopefully you can get this sorted out with them and find a solution.

The harness is completely different. I have both that one and the version A. The version A has extra connections for power, subwoofer and rear speakers. Initially I bought the one that activates the 4 speakers, after a month I ended up removing that one and installing the version A.

So I’m on 2023.26.8 and it doesn’t seem to affect me as much as the video they showcased. Maybe because I have the new AMD Ryzen Processer. I did notice that the music does fade when directions are being announced. But not a big deal.

I’m no audiophile but I feel like I have to constantly change the EQ because the bass or highs are way louder on certain songs. I don’t remember feeling the need to mess with the EQ until I installed. May be all in my head though

@@pyt2 I have the same issue as well. Not only do I have EQ issues with each song but now if I sit in the car with complete silence I hear a pulsating sound. I popped the truck and sure enough the sub is pushing out a thumping sound. What's also interesting is when you do a reset by pushing in both scroll buttons on the steering wheel the sub makes a pop sound. Even with the volume down. Nothing but issues with this kit and unfortunately Hannshow has no fix. Super annoying.
