Tesla Model 3 Summon in and out of Tight Garage

A live demonstration of our summoning our Tesla Model 3 in and out of a very tight garage that we have at our house. The regular Tesla Model 3 Summon has both forward and reverse features and you can easily move into a tight garage as well as a tight parking space. All of the other Tesla models have this same feature if you have full self driving or advanced autopilot. I've used this before at the gym where another car pulled in so close that I could not get into my Model 3, so I used the summon feature to back it out of a tight parking spot.

Personally, for parking inside a garage, I just use double tap to park. Works really well!

@@jessebach8224 Depends on the obstacles and how straight forward your garage is. I don't have any turns, so it works well for me. I trust my car to avoid the wall and my other car in my garage. It does a bad job reading short objects like 5 gallon buckets (I tested that!).

I'd use double tap to park in the garage. Make sure you set the settings to squeeze as much inches on the front end. Then use 'summon' to back it out.

Hm I live in Italy and had the advanced pack in tryout for about a week... and we couldn't manage to get it to work... it NEVER entered the garage always complaining that there were risk of hitting something. The garage is not smaller than this one...

This rarely works and with updates from this year it doesn't even try anymore. Although, TBF, I have a wash sink on my side of the garage.

I have a 2018 with EAP.I used summon for a couple of years to do the last six feet into a tight garage and the same thing backing out then one day it would activate and refuse to move.Actually contacted mobile service and after several interactions it appears a software update probably linked to vision only is the culprit. Really missed that feature.My garage has a alcove driver side which allowed me to open my car door and get out.Try summon randomly after software updates but it never came back 😖

Hi Rick, I’ve got the same problem. Did they say if future software updates would reinstate the summon function? Loved that feature in a tight garage and just wondered if my sensors were too sensitive and not allowing movement in tight spaces.

But can a Tesla or any EV self-park into a driveway from the road outside the house? And the opposite : self-drive backwards out of the driveway onto the road outside the house? This is something that most drivers have to do and hate having to do. Your car is typically parked facing forward in your driveway so you have the dreaded task of having to drive blindly backwards out through your gates into a busy or not so busy street. How when backing out do you see approaching vehicles - let alone bicycles or scooters or motorbikes?! This is the main reason why so many people with driveways leave their vehicles parked out on the kerbside overnight nearly all the time and will even use public chargers or trail extension cables over the pavement/sidewalk rather than face the hassle of having to drive onto their driveway and back out into traffic the next morning. I think its 8’, the car barely goes in. about 2 inches on each side of the side view mirrors.

There are about 2 inches on each side of the car when we pull it in or out. The widest point is obviously the side mirrors and they retract in Summon so that helps.

I now have a model 3, my door is 8ft and the car will drive itself in, but because of the slope of my drive way I need to start with the nose in the door so the car is flat enough to drive

Basic summon (in and out) is available with EAP. Smart Summon is only available with FSD.

That might be a more recent update. When I did the video there was only standard summon.
