I bought the Continental PureContact LS about 5,000 miles ago - partially based on your recommendation and partially on my own research. My original Tesla tires had 4/32" left (which is when I normally replace my tires - less than that usually invites flats and noise). I found the new PureContact LS tires had noticeably less road noise. I just had then rotated and they are doing great. Thanks for your efforts.

European Model 3 comes with Pilot Sport 4 Acoustic. The foam only lowers the sound by 1-2 decibel. The biggest advantage the foam brings is it changes the frequency of the sound. Lower frequency is less audible to our ears

Recently fitted Nokian Tyres One (235/45/18). They seem quite good so far and have a reinforced construction that is supposed to make them much more resistant to puncture damage. They seem as quiet as the originals and work well in the wet. Time will tell.

Very informative video! After 48 months and 30,000 miles, my 2018 Model 3 is still on its original 18” Michelins with 5.5/32” left on each tire. I am inclined to switch to the tires you have when these wear out.

I am happy I found your videos. I am about ready to buy new 19” Sport tires for my model 3. Your analysis and honest evaluation of your current tires has convinced me to buy those. I’m at 32,500 and while the ride still feels awesome, I am not going to chance it by pushing them further. I like to accelerate too :) Thanks so much

Great, Informative video. As always. Thank you for sharing! That 96V speed sufficient for Tesla? As I recall they require higher speed tires and definitely heavy load barring. I got Michelin Winter Tires drove on for 3 months. Maybe find a home for them!

I have these tires on my Honda Accord and I have had a wonderful experience as well. A note on the tire foam- it does make a small, but measurable difference when comparing against the same tire, but since the PureContact LS have a newer, more advanced tread pattern, compound, and internal construction, they are a very quiet tire by nature. Thus, the noise they produce is comparable to your previous tire

I am due for tire replacements on my Honda Accord. These are the tires that are recommended. For some reason I like the Extreme Contact DWS 06+ but I know it’s probably not the right choice. Did you think about these tires before buying the Pure Contact Sport LS? What made you go with them over others? What type of gas mileage are you seeing with them?
@TheMstwntdLMSV123
@TheMstwntdLMSV123 Жыл бұрын
@@Raptors0524 I have 16 inch wheels and the DWS06+ aren't made in that size, but my friend has them on his BMW 328i. They're excellent tires, but unless you want to trade more dry grip for increased road noise, stiffer ride, and less tread life, then I'd stick with a grand touring tire like the PureContact LS. I chose them because they were the quietest tire that didn't make any significant sacrifices in wet performance or tread life, and they're still one of the sportiest handling grand touring tires on the market. I have a full custom audio system and the Accord is notoriously noisy, so road refinement is my top priority. Today, there are quieter, softer riding tires and there are tires that perform better in extreme conditions, but most have increased rolling resistance, less tread life, and duller handling as a compromise.

Just replaced the stock Goodyears with foams on my 20' Model Y with 255/40R-20 VREDESTEIN QUATRAC PRO XL. It's been only a week, but I really love the new tires in the rain. I look forward to driving in the snow. I could not dream of getting the mileage you were getting; got only 26k on my stocks. The foam is bunk.

6/32 is about 5mm, 3/32 is about 2.5 mm, 10/32 is about 8mm. I'm not sure what that is in washing machines or giraffes or what ever bizarre units the USA uses. Maybe give the metric values as well, because, Tesla's are metric, all bolts etc are in mm.

Very similar story for me. LR AWD with 19” wheels. Original Contis replaced after 35k miles with PureContact LS. Too soon to judge longevity. Road noise seems similar to original tires, but handling feels slightly less crisp. On the other hand, the new tires are surprisingly good in the snow. Edit: so far Wh/mile seems very similar to original tires. Perhaps a bit higher.

I changed my tires 1 month ago. I drive a Model 3 performance with 20” wheels. I got 37,000 miles out of the original Michelin the car came with, so I stuck with the same. Interestingly enough those tires where hard to come by, had to schedule with the Tesla SC, and the tires where cheaper than what tire rack advertisement them for ( and didn’t have them).

I have been on a rage to reduce cabin noise in my model 3 LR. They came with the 19” wheels and Contis. I bought a set of 18” Tesla stock wheels from another owner and mounted the Michelin mxm4s. I also slapped the aero wheel caps. The set looks as ugly as can be but what a difference in ride comfort and reduction in cabin noise. The mxm4s also have acoustic foam but the wheel caps make a bigger difference in noise tbh. I also bought door seals from Amazon which also have a contributing factor. All in all couldn’t be happier. The 19” looks pretty but I am not the one looking at it while enduring the drive!

250Wh/mile sounds really high for a Model 3. Mine gets 170-200 depending on time of year. I do have a SR+ though (18" aero wheels), and mine is new enough to have the Octovalve, so that's probably where the difference is. It's almost crazy how much the Octovalve increased efficiency.

They also leave out 5 mills of rubber on the outside. I found this out when I replaced original at 35000 approx. I went with non Tesla Conential tire. Same tire no foam on inside. My 18 Model 3 has 66k miles and unless the original owner replaced them with old tires, the date stamp of early 2018 says they're original. and they're totally shot. I have winter tires I'm putting on but come spring I'll be replacing them. I think I'm going to go with the Yokohama Avid Ascend GTs over these Contis. I can get a set of 4 for under $800 versus close to $950 for these and we've had good luck with the GTs on our Escape, so we'll see.

Great minds think a like! Went with these as my 3-season tires on my 2018 M3D. I also wanted better tread wear without increasing the wheel/tire weight over OEM 19'. Love my VMR wheels and your tire choice. Great wear so far, but I do put my OEM aero wheels with Michelin Ice-X on for my winter set-up. The Continentals Purecontacts are speed rated to V (149mph max.), but thats fine for my M3 Dual Motor (software limited to 145mph).

I actually tried a set of Bridgestone with V rating over the Y’s that came with my Model Y. I have noticed if you push tires they get a a little squirmy. On the other hand the Efficiency has improved about 10 Watts per mile and the wear appears to be much better than tires that came with car.

I have the Model Y with 19” rims. Now here in Middle TN we have a slight predicament since Firestone which was the only shop that would touch a Tesla, has stopped working on Tesla’s so appears now the only way to get tire service is contact Tesla for the work. For rotations, $50 to come out to your home is a good value. I have about 15k miles on the tire, but the remote Tesla service don’t balance or mount new tires so not sure what I will do when I need balancing or new tires. Probably have to take it to Tesla and get whatever tires they offer.

I have a set of winter tires as well but plan on running the Michelin Cross Climate 2's year round once the winter set is worn out. My question is this. Have you ever had the alignment checked? With my previous vehicles I always had alignment done when installing new tires. However, I was ready to pay Tesla to do it when I had the car in for a recall but they told me don't waste my money unless I suspect a problem such as uneven wear or steering pulling to the side.
