Thanks for the great install video, this will be a help when installing mine. Just took delivery of our Y 4 days ago, so we’re still in that newborn baby/velvet ropes around it in the garage phase of ownership - less than 100 miles. We ordered similar mudflaps after hearing how the rear sides can get chewed up. They look good - I probably don’t love the way they look as much, but definitely see the utility. I’ll also look into that rear side ppf from Tesla.

Not sure if the design has changed, but the official Basenor install video shows the top hand-tight nut being left in place when installing the rear mudflaps, but the removal of a 10mm bolt underneath the car at the back of the flaps, which goes back afterwards to help secure them.

I'm curious but do the ones on the back even help? seems like all they do is add more drag and giving you less range while the ones in the front actually help to avoid any debris flying towards the sideskirt and the impact of drag should be redusced as well since they are smaller. Can't really imagine how the rear bumper will pick up any rock chips anyways. There is probably a reason why Tesla only sells the front ones, but feel free to correct me if I'm missing something.

You're correct. The 10mm bolt needs to be removed and reinstalled with the new mud guard. I actually addressed this bolt in a later video.

What is the mud flaps that are showing already installed? I got my M3 RWD which did not come with any mud flaps. Ordered the M3 lets see if it fits 2023 M3 RWD correctly

The Model 3 has a bolt at the underside of the fender for the front mud guards. This does not exist on the Model Y.

Yes you out the clip thing in the factory hole then push in the pin into the clip.

The instruction video is very useful compare to the Basenor instruction. One thing I realized after installing is there is actually a third hole for the rear mud guards which sit on the bottom rear bumper, did you do that? For the metal clip for the rear, what is the proper way to insert? My is quite loose.

Someone else has asked me about an additional fastener. This must have been something new because I do not have that. The metal clip is a little tricky. I believe I inserted the clip in a slight angle for it to seat properly.

@@Reviewlaw33 Really like to get this addressed, but with the screw on the bottom rear bumper, it looks like quite a challenge to remove and remove also the mud guard might also be a quite some work. Anyone try to remove to mud guard or is there any easy way to do so?

@@Wayneskyz I agree the bolt isn’t easy to remove. I don’t know why they chose to attach it there! This video was posted 5 months ago, surprised you didn’t have the bumper bolt attachment as well.

@@Wayneskyz You pretty much need to destroy the push clips to remove the mud guard after installing. I did the same thing and installed it without realizing there was a bolt. I had to use a flat head to pry the clip out. I then used a tool to yank it out, which broke the clip leave the screw. At that point I was able to manually pry the screw out. You'll need to have some replacement push clips in since they don't give you enough extras.

Where did you get these flaps? A link would be great. The ones on the Basenor site have a hole on the bottom of the rear flaps for which you must remove a bolt. Many reviews say these bolts shear off due to a poor weld and then you are in deep mud. This design looks great! Please post a link. Thank you!

I understand that the Model 3 doesn't require drilling. I believe there's also a bolt at the underside of the fender that you need to utilize.

Managed to scrape mine going into a driveway with a lip on it. Due to it being rigid plastic, it snapped it ¾ of the way off. Had it installed for less than 4 days. I'm not going to pretend I wasn't disappointed. Removing and replacing the plugs provided isn't going to be easy. They go in tight. They look great and they seem to work. But robust they ain't. You need to be 100% sure you're going to clear every obstacle and speed bump.
