The levers unfortunately won't be possible to change to something more practical and intuitive like the old levers, but a screen like this would be great.

Great video! Definitely considering this as I dislike having to look away from the road to see my speed. Quick question though.. any idea how Tesla views mods like this in terms of voiding warranty?

Hi Paul. Tesla can only void warranty if they can prove that the installed product caused the failure. So if you are having an electrical problem, or a computer issue with the car, Tesla has the right to claim that this 3rd party device you installed is the cause and they can deny warranty. However, if you bring the car in for something unrelated like suspension or brake issues, then Tesla can't deny warranty because of this electrical device. If you are in the US, you can read online about the "Magnuson Moss Act". It's a law that protects consumers for this reason. That being said, I would encourage anyone buying one of these to try to install it themself (don't hire someone else). That way you will know how to remove it and reinstall it if you need to take the car to the service center. Hope that helps.

Interesting, when I got mine, they included two different harnesses. The Intel one for mine was nice and compact without the extra AMD connectors. I need to see if there is a firmware update since your startup screen and dash layout is a little different than mine - no plaid mode.

Yes, mine does have a new firmware. I noticed this is a tweaked design from the ultra mini display that has a taller screen design. Interesting that they have so many versions of these displays now.

Do you still have this mini display? Do you know how to reset this mini display? I have this screen too. Today it gets a problem after 10 months usage. Currently my model Y shows 54% battery, but this mini display shows that I have 0% battery and the range is 900 miles @_@. Have you ever experience this problem ?

I swapped my CarPlay one for this because it looks more oem and doesn’t block vents. Then I found out they’re coming out with a CarPlay version. Fml. My only slight con is too many extra wires to hide although it’s nice that I can use it on both intel / AMD

The small screen looks great. I would like to know if you can see well if the sun is shining on the screen? I would like to see Tesla cars with such a small screen and a smartphone docking station instead of a huge screen. And there are too many plastic panels. Unwanted sounds can easily hide in everything.

I installed the same exact screen on my 22 model 3 about 1 and1/2 years ago. It has been working great until I just noticed that the battery percentage shows 0 and the milage range showes a crazy number like 3683 miles.I checked all the settings and they're ok. The speed and everything else is working ok. What could be worong? Should I check the wiring? on probably needs a software update that I dont know how to go about it?

Thanks for the video guidance! I just installed mine. Those plastic parts make me nervous. No fun contorting my body to get under the dashboard. I'm not as young as I used to be, but I got it. How long did it take for the tire pressure to sync up?

Take it for a drive and TPMS should sync within a few minutes.

I will never understand these additional displays. The speedometer is 20 cm on the right and the angle needed to look at it or at in the middle of the wheel is the same and in neither of them you can perceive the street clearly, but only with the periferal sight. Moreover some of these displays are so tiny that the effort to focus is even worse than having to move the eyes a bit on the right.

I wish I would’ve seen this video before I installed it with hanshow tutorial. It’s so much easier running the wire through the dashboard. I kind of regret installing this because I lost my auto pilot feature. is that something you can help me get back?

It should not affect auto pilot, but I guess anything is possible. I would try a hard reset first. Power down via center console screen, disconnect the front 12v battery (if you have an older one like mine), then disconnect the battery pack under the rear passenger seat. Wait a minute, and then connect everything back in reverse order. If you still have a problem, uninstall the hansshow device and see if auto pilot comes back. If not, schedule Tesla service to investigate. It may just be a coincidence that it happened at that time. It just reads data from the CAN-BUS. Shouldn’t affect auto pilot.

How did u put you hand inside? I tried but could not open the connection. I think it's very Tight place. Any tips? Did u look the connection while opening?

A few years back I installed a different screen, so I’ve removed this plug at least 4 different occasions for various installations. The first time is the hardest. I was upside down with a flashlight strapped to my head to see it first. Once you get your hand on it, you can blindly work on it. Just be patient that first time and steadily work it’s way back and forth to pull it out. Make sure you’re pinching the clip that’s holding it in.

Yes...but...my setup is a little different. Because I have a yoke steering wheel, I have the wheel raised up as high as it goes, which causes the screen to point up slightly where the distance meter appears lower than usual. If I lower my wheel like a normal steering wheel, it won't look that way. I hope that makes sense. Good question though, thanks!

Completely useless screen. It doesn’t display anything that isn’t already displayed elsewhere. I wouldn’t install any 3rd party accessory that ties into the CAN Bus. You risk main computer failure if the accessory faults and Tesla won’t cover that under warranty. I do like your channel though. 😁

You're right, it's not adding anything new. All it does is bring some useful data to your direct line of site behind the steering wheel. If someone were to have this installed, I would highly recommend that they install it themself. That way, they would know how to uninstall it if they need to bring it in for service for warranty issues. Thanks for watching my channel!

Good point, but I sure hope not. I recently sat in a Mustang Mach-E, and it also has a thin screen sitting behind the steering wheel. It's longer than this one, but still reminds me of these types of screens.
