I've just applied front plate using your advice. It worked really well thankyou. A couple of points.....the water & washing up liquid tip is great, I would've ruined my sticky plate without that tip! However when you say it's ok to skip the filler, I think you should definitely fill the screw holes as I got air bubbles where the holes are. They're minimal and I'm happy with the result but for the perfect job those holes need to be filled or maybe even just taped over

Good video. Added top tip: before removing the original plate use masking tape to mark the original position, this will save time measuring post removal. 👍

Do these hold up to pressure washing OK?

To be honest, I wouldn’t trust a pressure washer on the Tesla’s paint work up close anyway. We use a pressure washer with an adjustable hose on a lower setting up close, or on a high setting from a good safe distance away only, as well as a lance with the car shampoo. We’ve never had an issue and they’ve been on for a good year now with plenty of washes. They are very well adhered but I suspect constant blasting of the corners up close my work them loose over time, so you’d need to be careful.

Have you found the plate stuck to the area you filled on the back?

Yeah, no issues to date and that’s about 12 months on.

No, not at all. Actually, now you mention it, we had some issues with the old number plate at the airport, but with the new number plate, no problems.

Do i need water as i feel water wil show trought the plate as its not easy to remove

Hi, you don’t have to use the water, but having done similar things before, I would recommend it. The water is there to stop the plate sticking. You can remove it again or slide it around. If you do t use water, the plate will just stick and you won’t be able to adjust it again without damaging the sticky back. After a little time the water dries off and the plate sticks nicely.

Again, disclaimer before I answer, we’re really not experts, just naive and enthusiastic amateurs! In about an hour, it felt dry enough to rub down, but if you can leave it a good 4 or 5 hours, then it goes proper hard.

are these plates legal?

Yes, good question. In the UK at least they're totally legal and above board. You would need to check your local laws for other places in the world, but i think most countries would have some kind of solution. Pro plates where we got them from won't supply them without the usual evidence of vehicle ownership, and they meet all the government requirements for a number plate.

Any tips on the filling of holes? I think definitely sticker on front for me. But maybe just removed bracket and stick plate on back. Dont like that big slot to fill 🤮😂

Yeah, that back slot was nasty. I didn’t bother on our second Tesla.
