Did you have to realign the rotor with the encoder? I used to work on industrial motors and getting them aligned required software. This looks like a piece of cake.

I have heard that a prop drive is about 40% more energy efficient than a jet drive unit. I wonder if you would get a lot more speed for a given amount of electricity by using a prop drive instead of a jet drive? My neighbor mentioned this, that he must use jet drive due to the low water levels of the Sandy River where he likes to fish, and that a outboard prop drive, a 100 HP would be just as fast as his 175 HP jet drive unit. When I rented a jet ski, I was at Lake Havasu, and the water level was pretty low, and I got a rock sucked into the jet drive, and they wanted about $750 to remove the rock. I was a little more than a little bit upset. I wonder if you ever got a rock sucked into your jet drive?

Around 8min you're replacing a bearing, is that the same one for the notorious groaning noise some early 2013ish models exhibited from the drive units? Only reason I ask is there's a car local to me, 2013 MS 85 that's going for cheap since it needs the drive unit repaired. If so, would someone who's mechanically inclined enough to pull an engine be safely able to pull apart and replace this bearing in your opinion.

good question, I'm curious as well. My S 85P doesn't have the problem YET but we will see...

@@nastyaromanova5902 There's a dirt cheap 2013 85D w/ 50k near me because of the motor noise. I've watched a Rich Rebuilds video where he replaced what I think is the same bearing and shows more detail when they take it apart but I don't wanna risk buying a car for $30k if I can't actually fix it myself.
