Too fast and definitely beyond the driving abilities of many people. I'm one of the minority that finds the reaction to the acceleration old now. The thing is, every driver has this big reaction. I probably would if I drove it too but that's really an overstated aspect of any car. You don't floor it in normal circumstances much and with this much power, it's probably mostly unusable in most driving situations. So that leads to more "mundane" every day aspects of the car that really need to be talked about. Yes, there's the yoke. But I think the best thing about the vehicle is the interior update. It now looks premium and it flows. That's great. What's the ride quality over bumps? What's the wind and road noise like a cruising speeds and higher speeds (seems pretty low based on the reviews). Is the fit and finish now up to its price point? And so forth. We know it's insanely fast but every review I've seen has someone reacting to the speed. And if it isn't a one-trick pony, well, there's more to using a car than that.
@marshallhilfman
@marshallhilfman 2 жыл бұрын
For most people interested in that aspect of the car, the nearly 1/2 price Long Range version will serve them well. There are some reviews of those cars online which extensively cover highway and around town driving as well as daily use qualities and drawbacks.

@@marshallhilfman Fair point, but acceleration is novel. Others will catch up in time. And at what point does a car accelerate beyond the skills of drivers? At what point does a person have the power but refrain from using it to teach some loud muscle car a lesson? With this amount of power there needs to be restraint and skill in driving. I know the car has electronic nannies to help keep it stable but this is a very, very fast automobile. The whole, what is it "cheetah mode," takes ten minutes to prepare. Then it is just flat out speed. I just wonder really how practically useful it is even if this car isn't about practicality. I hope people just take them on tracks and have their fun. Because this type of power frankly scares me if someone doesn't have the right mentality to handle it. Also, this sort of acceleration is kind of painful. I wouldn't own this car because it is too powerful. And I think, as a car, this is the best Telsa. But the Plaid, IMO, is overkill.

I'd rather have a proper steering wheel and a few buttons but otherwise very nice car! I'm hoping it has traction control in the wet or snow though in case I'm a bit lead footed. How does the power come on is it a sensitive throttle or does it accelerate like a mini van until at least half way down, then ramp up the power? Also is the steering light or does it have a bit of weight to it? I dislike really light twitchy steering. I need the wheel to be steady when I'm "feeling the Gs" haha. If it feels like a games console steerer I don't want to be slipping the wheels over steering!

Honestly I would swap to steering wheel from a yoke. It may look good but a steering wheel is more comfortable and more importantly is more safe. But hey, traditional steering wheel doesn't look bad either. You don't have to buy or use something just because it is new and social media dictates it to you unconciously.

@@Sheldinator This steering wheel design is actually dangerous and could cost lives, by making the driver unable to have control of the car at times when he needs to do a sharp turn. Normally this is done by rapidly switching from one hand to another to rotate wheel as fast as possible (circular steering wheel can be handled at all times no matter how much has it been already rotated), steering wheel of this design (Tesla) is ony useful in motorsports such as F1 where the cars don't need much wheel rotation to manouver properly, however normal road cars do not possess this manouverability and often find themselves in such situations as: Parking - i can imagine handling such steering wheel when one needs to park can be awkward - making it unpractical. And avoiding danger on the road - if one would find himself in a situation where he needs to do a sharp turn, he wouldn't be able to do so, as rotating the wheel even as little as 90 degrees to either side makes it way more complicated, (if not impossible) to rotate it further thus avoiding the incoming accident - making the wheel deadly.
@Sheldinator
@Sheldinator 2 жыл бұрын
@@adamoutulny2345 dangerous? you know that to need to turn the wheel more than 90 degrees than the driver supposedly is going very slow for such a turn. so there is plenty of time for the wheel to turn. this isn't a drift car were your using the shit out of the power steering.

I don’t care if it’s faster. Not the same thrill without the sound of an internal combustion engine working in perfect harmony as you are accelerating and grinding gears. I’ll never get used to battery powered cars. I love the feeling of feeling the power from the engine. Just my opinion. Not sure why I am leaving my opinion guess I got suckered into it like everyone else on social media…. Dammit this is not a proud moment for me….ok good evening.
