Bjorn, we took delivery (In Canada) of my 2023 Model Y Long Range AWD Fremont build on May 7th, 2023 my critical inspection found nothing wrong, this model finally has the LED projection Matrix lights (no adaptive function other than the light show) same as what the Performance has been getting for some time in Canada. I stipulated this with my Tesla agent and he confirmed the lights. I notice some recent deliveries in the USA of the same model still has all reflector LED lights, just guessing Tesla made preference to Canada having this upgrade as we have a lot of wildlife on many of our routes. First thing we did was make a 330KM round trip and try out the supercharger, my 2023 Ioniq 5 failed DC Charging 2 weeks after taking delivery that I tested it, I was a little gun-shy. As normal it worked, but made me comfortable with the car, and love the efficiency on my first highway trek!

Haven't tested a lot of other cars, but compared to the ID4 and Ioniq 5, the Tesla was in a whole other league when it came to the soundsystem. When it comes to him having to have the volume at 80% I think that rather is the Bluetooth unit that gives low volume. The radio is a lot higher, volume vise. Regarding the sound I noticed the same in my M3 from 9/21. They might have changed something in the system at that time for the worse because the test M3 LR I drove in June 21 had way better sound. I had to turn down bass and treble levels in the EQ significantly to achieve a more linear sound without boomy bass and sharp treble. Still, I am not really satisfied. Sound drivers seem to be cheap quality with slow response and not much detail.

Can't wait for the 4680 Berlin made Model Y. With structural battery and megacast in front and back of the vehicle they can reduce the overall weight ti 1.8-1.85Tons ,aside of the efficiency increase from the weight loss alone, Tesla could use narrower tyres (due the lower vehicle mass) improving the efficiency without sacrificing the grip , this should also improve the confort since a lighter vehicle allows softer spring and the narrower ,thus lighter, tyres should cope with the road better.

@EugeneHoochie
@EugeneHoochie 2 жыл бұрын
It was a direct report by BMS, the difference is dissipated in the battery as heat (as bms can't measure the output before internal resistance). True that effective value looks pretty much like ioniq 5 capacity, catches the eye 😉
@bilgyno1
@bilgyno1 2 жыл бұрын
@@bjornnyland Ah that makes sense. I'm now at 143 Wh/km in the Ioniq 5, going for ~450 km on a full charge. That implies a little over 64 kWh useful. I believe there might be about 30 km left once you hit 0% (as shown in some "we drove this EV till it stopped" videos), so about 4.3 kWh might be hidden there. Then there would be another 4.3 kWh that you cannot get out. That's a pretty big difference compared to the spec. Especially since the conditions are now very ideal for battery comfort. Around 15-20°C outside. I'm going to charge the battery from as close to 0% as possible and see how much it takes. Obviously, also the consumption figure might be incorrect. I did have one charge session with 69 kWh added, but don't recall the starting SOC. Also, there will be some charging losses.

A bit disappointed to see pretty much perfect conditions... No wind, dry roads and the only difference to the previous range test was the temperature which is pretty much optimal for the heat pump aswell... So IDEAL winter conditions for the Model Y... and the original range test had ideal conditions aswell. Just saying this out loud as wind, wet roads, even lower temperature. etc can affect the efficiency very substantially (easily 20% even if you drive a loop) so any conclusions based on these results are pretty much moot.

A good test, but comparing the Model Y with BMW and Audi - that's nowhere near equivalent. As you know, in benign conditions, as for this test, the Model Y would by rear wheel drive only (the front motor wouldn't be engaged as shown in the scan tool) and you're comparing it to EVs with PM motors front and back. Yes of course the Model Y would use less electricity. A more fair comparison with BMW and Audi would be with a new Model X which gets PM motors front and back, when that arrives in Europe later this year (maybe).
@bjornnyland

Incorrect. Audi e-tron uses induction motors (not PM motors).
@twotone3871
@twotone3871 2 жыл бұрын
@@bjornnyland I stand corrected. Yes, the E-Tron uses induction motors. It uses two induction motors for AWD and hence uses more electricity than a Model Y which uses, essentially, one PM motor. Still not a fair comparison.

For Germans the "new" MY and M3 autopilot without radar is the worst shiiiet ever. 130 km/h max is just abysmal. Hope they fix it soon. VW self driving works up to 180 km/h. Tesla should finally try to catch up. Other than that, my wife loves her MY from Giga Berlin. Even with the new UI.

@@jkev1425 There is nothing to learn. As long as Vmax on German Autobahn is not regulated nationwide, automakers wishing to sell their cars in Germany should respect that fact. Otherwise, one could spin your argument even further and posit that any car supporting a Vmax greater than 130 km/h is nonsense and should not be built. Which clearly is not how the world works. We must learn that.
