You could go buy the cheapest Hyundai Accent and not have these kind of defects on the exterior or interior. On a $60,000 car this is absolutely ridiculous. I like Tesla's in many ways they're fast and they get a lot of things right but they definitely have issues in this area. A door handle cost over $900. CV axles which are a common fail in the Model X are $850 each. I can get a door handle for my Prius for 50 bucks and a drive axle for 60 bucks. I realize it's not the same class of car but that would be true with a Camry or a RAV4 or a sienna or any other vehicle. If I do go electric I'm leaning more towards either a used Chevrolet Bolt EV or perhaps a new one if they're offering deep discounts. I'd love to get a Hyundai Kona or Kia e niro but you can't find them. what's crazy is the bolt EV actually has more rear legroom and headroom than a Model 3. And the front seats are decent also although their little thin and some people complain about them being uncomfortable. Supposedly 2019-2020 they resolve that issue and I think 2021 the car is going to get a complete redo interior and exterior

Had more fun driving my performance model 3 than all of them. I’ve also spent next to nothing over 60k miles besides tires. I’m swapping to a model Y performance but if not for that, I’d have zero concerns trying to drive my car for 440,000 miles more. Show me the BMW, Mercedes, Lexus or anything else that I won’t have spent 50%+ of the MSRP fueling and maintaining over that amount of miles. Likely double in fact as mechanics for ICE vehicles stop being a thing over the next couple decades. I’m either adding a Bronco or Jeep to our family Later this year or early next and then I’m adding a Cybertruck and that’s it for me and my wife for life. I know both Teslas will last for as many miles as We will drive the rest of the way and we’re not even 40. All three vehicles will be relatively timeless by design so the temptation to replace will likely never be there. In other words in the car world these are the best investments. I didnt buy a tesla for the paint. and all other new cars have the same problems., they just dont have everyone on youtube analyzing them

@@profutzer But they don't though. We have the cheapest VW, and it didn't have nearly as many paint (or panel gap) issues as this 70 000 dollar car.
@profutzer4 жыл бұрын
@@kristenburnout1 LOL..you are saying your ONE car has no problems. Thats a huge sample size there..great thanks for settling that. In the same way my Tesla has zero paint or alignment issues. So that means this video is obviously false, right? I have a 2018 golf, 2019 tacoma, 2019 cr-v...they ALL have paint issues. actually some of them have panel alignment issues as well. One thing none of them have is LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE THE TESLA OFFERS. I love how people act like we buy teslas for the paint. As if you can compare some ICE car with zero features to a car that can literally do anything. And then just concentrate on some minor paint defects as if every other feature of the car has no cost and the 70k price is just for a painted body. SMH

It's my opinion that any Tesla these day especially the 1st batch should get the paint refinished. That means buffing and sanding off part of the top coat in some area and then having another layer of top coat over and then finish it. Some people are reporting orange peel on the paint that is unacceptable for car at this price level. The total cost of doing this can easily add another $2000.

This is what worries me about Tesla. I test drove a M3 last month and it just does not feel like a quality car. On another Channel (Fully Charged) the presenter was reviewing his own M3 and said that he was totally unconcerned by panel gaps, didn't worry him at all. But he's wrong. If things like panel gaps are way off what does it say about the rest of the car, especially what you can't see? Just not acceptable.

Well, depends on how long you will own a car. After a few years, Teslas will have massive rust problems in colder areas.

Tesla has definitely stepped up their game since their Introduction to the automotive industry. It’s not perfect 👌 but definitely better . I had a 2013 model s and it’s build quality was ok then I received my 2019 model 3 and although still had its flaws it was definitely a point in the right direction. Tesla isn’t yet a car company it still needs work... but as a customer we purchase these cars mainly for the tech. I did order a cyber truck which is made differently so I can’t wait to c how it turns out. Great vid mate

if the car i snot washed how can they drive it? i have gotten cars to get ready for use and they have vax all over, a thick coat that make the windscreen impassible to look thru. and grease markers all over. numbers and letters all over the windscreen. some times we found the remains of the lush from the workers etc. tools forgotten in the car ++ it have papers glued to the windows with factory info. import routs etc. so you need "some preparation" befor you get it.

I would like to give a shout out to Car Guy Supplies. I stopped in your Lombard facility a couple weeks ago to take a look and get a small fix for my addiction of collecting detailing products. Sorry, I cant remember his name but he looks like you with a shorter beard. Great guy, knowledgeable and friendly. He recommended a few products that I already have but we finally found one and it is a winner. I will definitely be returning for other products and would love a tour of the shop if possible. About this video I will say Tesla is undoubtedly a technology company first and an automotive manufacturer second. Experienced in the Dealership world for 28 years I worked every position from Porter to Service Director. I believe you can safely make the "Blanket Statement" of "Sell them, Repair them, but please don't clean them. For the last 11 years I have been with the Federal government in vehicles and believe me in my 38 years dealing with cars both professionally and personally I have seen all types of vehicle conditions as well as the need for detailing shops such as yours.. Thank you!

Great instructional video. Most people are so caught up in taking possession of their new car, they don't look closely enough. This car is expensive, and I'm honestly shocked the Tesla dealers let it ouf their show room with the defects in the body (seats not going down, broken seat back -used headrest and cut in the plastic. Really pathetic. I want one of these cars and when I do get one, I'll be going over it with a fine tooth comb before I drive it away. Great point about not washing it.

I love the channel. I love to detail my cars. For me it’s literally therapy especially during times like now where we have a lot of TIME we never had before. With that said: You can’t make yourself into an OCD Klean Kar Phreak. YES! that is what we are but seriously it’s a car! Cars get driven. Cars are going to get dirty, scratched, dented....You can’t keep a daily driven car perfect. You can keep it nice but don’t make yourself sick with the auto detailing people. Have Fun!
@Briguy10274 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have to agree with you. You can work forever and make your car look perfect, but you also have to drive it. Once you start driving you start getting things on your car that damage it and ruin your hard work. So my thing is -- as long as the paint protects the car from rust, I'm good.

Dealers are terrible at car prep, have them leave all the plastic on inside and out when you take delivery. If you see imperfections haggle a few bucks off :) In Tesla's case just ask the reps to not wash the vehicle and leave it in plastic instead, but bring it up from the beginning of the order not once its delivered

Well I just stick to old cars (1970-1990) that are already scratched and dinged, because I love old cars. Some of mine look pretty clean for their age, but they're not perfect so I don't have to worry that much about them. I can't imagine buying a new car and finding imperfections on it, even though they're somewhat normal because nothing is perfect.
