People not understanding that lucid is aiming to be a luxury brand. Yes they need to be profitable but that will take time. Scaling is hard. This is where Tesla was in between the model X model 3. The amazing thing about electric SUVs is that their compact motors and inverters, along with the battery neatly tucked under the floor, allow for a level of space efficiency that combustion engines could never achieve. However, this optimized space utilization sometimes leads to a monobox design reminiscent of a minivan. Personally, I love the way it looks, and I hope enough people share this sentiment. How about regen paddles ? So much talk about driving dinamics and work put into it, but you forget the ABCs ? Not everyone is driving one-pedal. Heck, some even get motion sickness from it. Not to mention the damage it does when hitting a pothole with the wheels still braking. The really passionate drivers, they love to be able to switch quickly from a high level regen to a lower one, especially on a bumpy road. From my experience, any decent driving EV should have the paddles. What Kia/Hyundai are doing now, with simulating gears, is next gen fun, I don't expect that from every car producer. But at least give me the ability to modulate the regen power, when needed.
@flaviandd12 сағат бұрын
P.S. I know you might not have details yet, but we also need to know more about the battery. Is it modular ? Again, thinking about the koreans here. They have top stuff in this regard. Best modularity of all: you can repair, reuse, replace just one of the 32 modules in an EV6 for 300USD or less. No foam shit, no glued pack, no welded blades, no cooling mixed between the cells, and still charging super fast. About charging. Will they be Zeekr 7x like 10-80 in about 10 min ? If not, why not ? And if we are talking about 7x, that one might be a real competitor, even is is not as big: have you seen that 7x offroading ? It's next level for such a premium city SUV. You have not even mentioned the ground clearance levels for the Gravity. Sure, it's more minivan or MPV than SUV, but that air suspension should count for more than just handling and comfort.

Glad to finally get the review of the Gravity!!!! Please try and get your hands on a Cadillac Escalade IQ. I am very interested in an electric SUV for a large family 5+. @normanli708522 сағат бұрын
Towing and ingress are the only advantages of the Escalade IQ. Everything else, the Gravity does better for less money and an exterior that's doesn't take up a lot of space.
@SchieEngineer12 сағат бұрын
@@normanli7085 I agree with your assessment. My family is coming from a minivan that has more interior space than any EV on the market. We have a family of 5 plus a large dog. The minivan allows us to remove one of the second row seats for the dog and allows very easy access to the third row. The minivan also has plenty of storage for full size suitcases, and large items we commonly carry behind the third row. The Gravity was my top contender for replacement of the van, but I am not sure it quite has the interior comfort my family is used to. There is a Cadillac Escalade IQL that is even longer coming. That is most likely the size we are looking for. Yes the cost of new is CRAZY, but I am looking to pick one up in a couple years after the 50% deprecation happens on the Cadillac.
@normanli70859 сағат бұрын
@SchieEngineer I must say, I did find it surprising that the IQL isn't much bigger than the IQ. In terms of the styling, the IQ looks like a super sized Sorento (or, in this case Gravity) while the IQL is a supersized Palisade to have a more functional third row. Hopefully, the legroom is similar to the Escalade ESV, and the headroom eclipses 39 inches due to the more boxy shape in the back.

Great video. Has minivan vibes - looks very much like Honda's Odessey's well off posh ev cousin.

I'm really curious how well this will sell, it reminds me a lot of the Mercedes R-Class which didn't find much of a market in the US. It lacks the style of an SUV and its too expensive to cross shop with a minivan. Having said that, I like it and if I was buying a $100k vehicle it would be at the top of my list. I still worry about my kids opening a traditional door though :)

The elephant in the room is whether the company stays in business. Am I willing to bet $130,000 on that? No, because I keep my vehicles for 5-8 years. If you lease for 2 years, like Kyle, then that may not matter. The conversation on this topic could last for hours; there’s so much more to discuss on that. I personally will hold out for the Porsche Cayenne EV, or look at other, more established brands. Still, I do hope for their success. I think they’ve done some amazing engineering. Market sales will provide the feedback.

They should have made the least expensive model first and ground out the volume.

I thought this thing got caught in the gravity well of the sun and disappeared. Lucid has been teasing this one forever.
