Thinking of wrapping my Model Y. Do I need to take it apart beforehand like you did or can I wrap it as so?

That's a sick color. Why not wrap the shitty-looking plastic trim?

It would need to be sanded and primed first because it’s textured plastic and the wrap won’t stick. I’ve got one coming up where I will be wrapping it!!

Just curious, why do you do the larger area of the mirror first and then the backing afterward?

The larger piece is stretched and therefore has a higher probability of failure long term. The small piece has zero tension so holds the edge. IMO it looks the same or better and I have 0 concern of longevity
