The X will sell well again after the refresh, especially on new efficiency and charging improvement I am guessing. But for now clearly the model Y is a better choice for most people. (Note: I was told model X is excellent for wheelchair, never tried it so I am not sure)

Nice video except when you tried to describe how the heat pump works. You described heat scavenging which is already used to heat the Model 3's battery pack. A heat pump is basically an Air Condition unit running in reverse. Still using compression and expansion of a refrigerant.

This is like comparing the Model S to the Model 3, there's no need to compare, they're different cars for different customers. I hope, and think Tesla will keep the Model X, and S, as luxury vehicles and the Models 3, Y and future Model 1 (or whatever it'll be called) will be for the average customer. I'm sure pricing for the X and S will come down a little as they are still priced too high but should stay in Tesla's lineup as luxury models.

considering the price difference and the fact that the X is TOO big for the city, I'll take the Y every time I need to go out, that's not even accounting for pricing. I think they Y will make the X quite obsolete, but it's ok because they will sell a LOT of them.

Generally speaking, the new Y is rather better than the X imo. As the X hasn’t been refreshed or will be in the next few years, I think the Y is rather better. Now, they took off free supercharging on all models and the model X has more components.

Hi Cleanerwatts. You seem to miss the main point of the Model X. It’s supposed to be a luxury product, so you can not evaluate like this. It’s like comparing a Mercedes A class with a Mercedes S class. In your equation you need to insert comfort as a variable. Things like material quality, noise level and ride comfort. These are the points of buying the model X. To what extent the X succeed in these parameters, I simply don’t know, as I have never driven I a model X. Beware that if you compare models like you are doing, you run the risk of stating that a aerodynamic electric bus for 14 passengers is a Best Buy. For me it isn’t 😃

Can't lease a Model Y...... 04:45. The Model Y also has resistive heat. The heat pump is primary. There's many conditions when a heat pump simply won't be enough. 06:00 towing with any Model Tesla kills the range. About 50% or greater loss. Just ask TFL . He could barely get 100 miles from a full battery pack. Diesel ICE still far superior for towing.

A major difference, at least for now, is that you can lease a Model X but you can't lease a Model Y. If you're a small business owner and/or benefit from leasing, that's a significant factor. Both incredible cars. Best cars ever built. Proud to own my second.

Ulfarr Varg it is even hard to find an ICE car for $20,000 :) you may wait a long while I guess. But you never know :) Tesla may just do that one day for you. I rather think $25,000 is the cheapest we will ever see with a Tesla in the next 10 years. They just have no need to sell a car for any cheaper, and at that price ICE is totally dead :)

At a base level (forget the features for a minute), Tesla cars are worth about $5K to $10K more than the average gas car because of the cost savings of cheaper energy (gas vs Electricity). This is assuming of course that you keep the car for 5+ years.

Ulfarr Varg I think you need to look at a used Chevy Bolt mate. Even a non-Premier Bolt is pushing $35k, slightly less with GM incentives. Expecting a 20k Tesla, even the rumored Model 2 is ridiculous given the cost of battery packs etc. there's a lot of used ICE for $20 k or less. Look at that market. Maybe a wrecked or salvage Model 3 is in your future.

It is a great video nonetheless. If I were in the position of choosing between EV SUVs I would right now ask myself the question why I would go for a Model X. (Especially given all the negative reports we hear around the falcon wing doors and automatic doors in general.) I am not an SUV guy, so my decision really was between the S and the 3, so a video like this here makes a lot of sense to me. (And just because I have enough income to afford an X doesn't mean its a good idea to buy one...)

And then again: Even if I can afford it, why would I if there is no real benefit. And that's what the video is all about. Is there still enough additional value in the X to account for the price?

It also frees up more of your income should emergencies hit. Loans only encourage people to buy stuff they can't afford

They're still good, still have the best range, and any battery chemistry improvements affect them too. Additionally, they've been improved by software updates and still look just as good as they did when the S was last refreshed. Why fix what ain't broke?
