It's a good tool. The smart management module is a must if you plan to apply large loads.

Dimensions aren’t much different. Warranty is nearly identical. Generac much better for capacity and expandable. Generac is superior

Hi Eric, Dimensions are very different. Warranty is close to identical but Tesla has a charge warranty after the 10 years .Generac can only go up to 36 kWh per 200 amp panel . Tesla can go much higher.

Generac you can add a second inverter to have 2 more 18kwh for a total of 4 18kwh packs. Also at night time you can go in self supply mode and run your house with 72,000 watt hours of power. I have 1,800 sq ft home I run 3 of The ushaped window units these are very low current start up units. Each rated. 10,000 btu’s for a total of 30,000 btu’s. The 18kwh Powercell from Generac will run the load for 15 hours holding 70 degrees F. The Tesla will not do this as I understand this. So my whole house runs off of stored power in my batteries. If the grid goes down I can run both bedrooms and fridge for many hours. Once sun is back up solar panels charge batteries again. This is where there is no such thing as to many solar panels. Cloudy day hurt solar production big time. Currently I have 7,770 watts of panels. I will increase panels to max out the one inverter to help with low sunlight days. This will help charge batteries faster while still running 100 % of house load on solar. I also plan add another 18 kwh battery bank In about 1 year or so. Tesla system does not have these options that I am aware of. Make sure your system can expand with you. I like my Generac System. I am planning to add panels first to max out the one inverter I have to 10,000 watts of panels then Add second 18kwh power cell to extend run times on every thing. Then if Needed I can add another 10,000 watts of panels if I chose. Good video by the way. Generac may not be the lowest cost but it has flexibility and the ability to expand your system if you chose.

Why is it always assumed battery backup is used in conjunction with solar? What if a customer only wants battery backup ? What am I missing here ?

we only have a hand full of customer who go that route out of over 1000.

Tesla starts around 16k before the tax credit and Generac starts around 12k-22k depending on size and configurations.

If you have the LRA on the back of the unit we could tell you. Usually yes for Generac for LRA under 50 max maybe 60. requires, soft start and smart management modult from generac of course What state are you in?

I'm waiting for Generac to come out with a 50 foot tall wind turbine that I can install in my 150 square foot Austin backyard to complement and tie into my solar panels that completely cover my roof. That way I feel good about my green energy virtue-signaling and my whole neighborhood can see that I'm a good democrat. Viva Beto!
