Regarding the Lordstown Plant, many people don't realise how much control the Taiwanese has in manufacturing, Taiwanese businesses actually own and operate over half of the factories and create over half of the high paying factory jobs all over the world, including China, Japan, India, US, you see your stuff is made in China, but what you don't see is they are made in China by a Taiwanese company, for example, all iPhones are made in China by the Taiwanese company Foxconn, and all MacBooks are made in china by the Taiwanese company Quanta, the Taiwanese owns China's economy, millions of Chinese workers depend on jobs created by the Taiwanese.

Also, India had some pretty interesting EVs already - won't compare with teslas ofc, but from the PoV of the government, we're getting EVs anyways - we just don't want chinese made cars on these roads. It's just Geopolitics. Geely set up manufacturing in India for the MG brand - and is now selling EVs in India (ZS and another one) so the model works. P.S> happy to talk more on this on discord :)

I got a news feed saying supercharger' s huge price hike makes gas vehicles more competitive. I don't know what state they were quoting but it hasn't happened here in California. We do have higher rates 31 to 32 cents a kilowatt and as low as 22 cents it's still way cheaper than almost $6 to$7 a gallon fuel especially when you consider model 3 at 121 miles a gallon equivalent and your average gas guzzler at 15 with the exceptions of the Prius 38 to 45 mpg. There need to be new idle laws and they need to be enforced! For the planet and for the outdoor dining (which is more common since Covid!) Current idle laws don’t apply to refrigeration vehicles the same way as other vehicles for obvious reasons. Grrr. BUT since I am outside quite often in the summer, I have learned there are SOME companies that keep their product cold with solar panels on the roof! Which is amazing!!

Hey, I thought I could chim in about what people in India think of Tesla and EV's. I love tesla and have been following them since 2015, and Now You Know for a few years. EV's have started gaining popularity in India in past year or so after the introduction of Ather 450X and Tata's Nexon EV. These vehicles have been hugely popular. Most of the people that I know (I live in a tier 2 city) are either planning to get an EV or waiting for EV's with higher ranges. Especially after the recent hike and fuel prices. People want to get EV's not just because it's better for the environment, but because people just love the way they drive. It's like getting butts in seats for Tesla. Continuous electricity is still an issue in many parts of the country and the charging infrastructure in still not great, it's kind off like just have the Electrify America Network. I think that Tesla Energy will be a much bigger player than any of the models. Model 3 and Y are way too expensive. Even if the next model from tesla is $25000, that is still higher than what people pay for cars. If Tesla is planning on maybe not having a steering wheel in the next model, Tesla Autopilot needs to work in India. Which will take a long time. Tesla's solar panels and grid scale storage can really be successfully. All new building (commercial and residential) in my city have/are planing to have some kind of solar panels. My university just got solar on our roof. While it is true that vehicle have a 60% import duty. I cannot see any way in which the government will wave this. Especially if the cars from coming from Giga Shanghai. There are a lot of companies in India working on EV's. For example, Tata has big plans. Yes, their technology is no where close to even the 2012 model S. However, the India government and India tech companies usually wait for any new technology to mature and then roll it out (eg. 4g and mobile payments). A gigafactory in India would never be successful if it is just focusing on vehicle. A gigafactory would have to make solar and storage packs like Giga New York.

So here's the thing, a 200 mile, relatively affordable electric bike is my DREAM... and it just seems like we're just spinning our wheels. That's why I was SO disappointed when Tesla said they were out with regard to motorcycles, because I knew they would deliver. Zero is bar far the best value, but even their "220" or whatever range bike gets like 115 miles at 70mph... And how am I supposed to keep it at or below 70? I just want a bike that will comfortably get me from San Diego to LA on one charge without range anxiety or having to stress the battery below 15% charge. That represents about 150 miles of freeway range... and I have a feeling, short of a breakthrough battery, we ain't getting there anytime soon. Realistically, if you lived in and just wanted to get around LA, the range of that Harley would probably do just fine, particularly because of traffic slowing you down, even when splitting, because you don't want that speed differential through the roof. Maybe 20-30 mph difference max. Which means you're going to 20-40 between cars going between 0 and 10mph.
@steven43152 жыл бұрын
Depending on your means the Chevy Bolt at about 35k is way more affordable then any other EV. I've owned 1 for 3 years and consider it the best EV out there for the money. If you want a bike, best hope for Gogoro to come to the US.

@@steven4315 definitely considered a Bolt and still kick myself for not getting a '22 model at a huge discount when I had the chance. But still, would prefer a bike, as LA traffic (and even San Diego traffic at rush hour), HOV lane or not, is a nightmare on anything but two wheels.

V2H and V2G are the exciting future for EV's. However Tesla cannot do this as yet. EV's could help stabilize the grid so power outages can be a thing of the past and power shedding can be minimized and prevent rolling power outages. Studies have found that by using these batteries like this can in fact increase the lifetime of the battery not degradate faster as most would think. V2G/ V2H can be achieved by the use of a Wallbox Quasar 2 which uses a CCS connector. Texas can be saved! This is why I purchased a KIA EV6.

@@danielbtzibur8637 Yes - I agree - they need to find good locations for them. I live in Columbus, Oh. I had solar installed on my house 6 months ago, for about $12,000 after rebate. The house is two stories, square, and taller than it is long or wide. The roof is east west facing. In Ohio, my annual solar output cannot be more than 120% of my total annual usage or the electric company can make me shut down my solar array (after learning more about the electrical grid, I agree with the terms). The company I went with looked at my previous years usage to determine the size of the solar system they could install. I have room for 2 more panels. I paid $50 dollars on my electric bill three months ago, and my last 2 bills have been for $0. I HAD auto pay on my bank account to pay my electric bill. I set the default amount to $50 and would adjust the default amount when the bill comes in. I did that so at least the company would get something. I was used to electric bills over $100. When I received my bill for $15 three months ago, I did not edit the default $50 to reflect the lower bill. I will need to turn on AC at some point. But as of today, I have produced more energy than I have used in 2022 by 0.2MW. I might need to turn my AC to make sure I don't make more than 120% of what I use. In Ohio as of today, any electricity I put onto the grid I can pull off the grid for free. The grid is currently my battery. And I am waiting for my panels to be paid off, or battery tech to become the $100 per KWH I have heard it could be at some point in the nearish future. Are in Ohio and think there is not enough sunny days for solar? I know I did, and I was mistaken.
@scottmcelhiney3232 жыл бұрын
Wait, the electric company can make you SHUTDOWN your solar array because it generates to much electricity? I can see you maxxing out how much they'll pay for your excess energy, but how can they make you shut down your array?
@wabash15812 жыл бұрын
@@scottmcelhiney323 It is part of a contract I had to sign to get the panels installed. I was not happy about it at first either. But after learning about how the electric grid works it makes sense. The grid is a very complex machine, that's needs to use every watt of power produced. In California where there is a ton of residential solar. The state is starting to face issues with having to deal with to much energy being produced and being sent to the grid on peak hours. To combat the issue, if you live in California, you have to install a battery to install solar. That is a new regulation. If I had to install a battery, I would not have been able to afford to go solar. The reason for the 120% clause in the contract is to help prevent an issue with adding to much power to the grid. It sounds obserd now, with the rush to get off carbon. But it is actually looking forward in time when residential solar might over power the grid and damage it. The grid is a complex machine.

Anyone notice? The pictures (around 40:20) might have matched up with the materials they mentioned, but all three were captioned as nickel...

ya'll have seriously stepped up your game in the editing/post department, so cool. Keep it up!

I love how the media shows a picture of a giant lot of parked cars when they speak of a Tesla recall... like that has ANYTHING to do with that situation. Jesus... stone age!

Do you have a license to drive a semi of any sort?
@clnelson3212 жыл бұрын
Not required for private use. People buy semi tractors all the time to haul big fifth wheels.
@eclecticcyclist2 жыл бұрын
@@clnelson321 In my country the license required is dependant on size of the vehicle, not who's driving or for what purposes they're driving

@@eclecticcyclist Yeah, I get a little nervous watching 90 year olds driving 45 ft motorhomes with a vehicle or trailer in tow.

I think lots of people would buy the Scout if it's priced right. There's a lot of nostalgia in the brand. Think of the Ford Bronco and all the buzz and demand that generated.

will it be possible to change battery pack or cell after 10 years in a structural pack. I think EV could be made to last 20 years with some touch up replacing some battery cell, but that it will end up like Iphone where it s planned to be scrapped after 8 years as it will be made impossible to repair or update.

NYK USA Butts In Seats Tour! Keep the endurance! Once you have the semi, you need to get a car trailer and do a “tour” around the US with all your EV models. T-Semi + M3 + MX + Rivian R1T + Endurance + Cyber Truck + Leaf + ?

Will the new teslas come with breaks? Or are they still separate?

Love the idea that we might see the Tesla Semi sometime soon. As a: Tesla owner (2015 S, and sweetie has a Y), stock holder, commercial driver (and Semi owner - Volvo VNL sleeper cab).... this is right up my alley!! (I seriously wonder how many people in this country check all those boxes!) Glad to help with the butts in seats stuff once you get your hands on that baby. In the mean time, so many questions, like: Are they making a sleeper cab version, either out the gate or soon after launch? How do the trailer brakes work (it has a compressor onboard, to run the traditional air brakes on the trailer? Wouldn't regen trailer brakes be a wizbang idea?) Love the show.

Yeah, IDK how my bosses don't see the value of regenerative braking...eh, they're not infallible, if you know what I mean.

Zack and Jesse Like your show This seatbelt issue for young children in a Rivian Can't imagine putting a young child in front seat anyway For instance, in TX, young children by law must be in back seat until 12 yrs old or have a certain height/weight before riding in front seat Jack Denton TX

Save yourself a headache and plan to order the Chinese BYD Han which have already produced 200,000 units and bests Tesla on almost every spec and the topper is that it costs 30% less. Check it out.
