Great show. Just small correction. There is only one pair of arms in the starship catch tower. The other thing you are seeing is the quick disconnect to send fuel to the ship. Either way, the can catch the booster, leave it in the pad, and then catch the Ship with the same tower and arms. Note that Ship will have to do at least 1 full orbit, so, more than enough time for the tower to be ready

ASS is still useful even at 6m. Think about going up to a parking space, and the people either side of you have parked very close. You can have your car back out, load up your groceries and open the doors wide enough to get in. Trust me, this will be a big deal in Europe. I think if you look it up, you'll find average car parking spaces are smaller in the UK and Europe than they likely are in the US - but every country must suffer from people parking badly and not realising (or caring) that they've boxed someone in. And lots of people are terrible at parallel parking too as it's not all that easy a skill to acquire for some (lots of drivers avoid difficult parking manoeuvres).

It is impossible for any autonomous taxi service like Tesla to prove to regulators that Unsupervised FSD has an efficacy of 10k miles per critical intervention without generating this statistic with a Safety Driver (which Tesla is currently doing for their employees at Fremont) or deploying a Robotaxi service with a remote Safety Driver (like what Waymo and Cruise are doing). All of the data Tesla currently has is Supervised FSD data. Tesla has very little or no data on the efficacy of Unsupervised FSD. Eventually as Tesla accumulates evidence of higher efficacy rates (i.e. 30k, 50k, 100k miles per intervention) regulators will allow Tesla (or Tesla will assume responsibility) to increase the number vehicles monitored per remote operator.

You could have 1 teleoperator with 12 screens monitoring 10 cars (2 spares for handoffs) and then zoom in on one (automatically handing off the other cars to other operators) while you correct the one situation that got flagged (car calling for help) or if you spotted something wonky like a distorted path to target. Given that you could expect maybe one of your fleet of 10 running into trouble every hour... this would take a Big bite out of the cost of drivers while providing human override. Huge outage at the major pass and all the way to eastern lake Washington. Everything on the east side of the lake was down from Bothell to Renton. Never seen anything like it. The I-5 corridor on the opposite side of the lake was just fine [no trees in downtown Seattle, power fine, Space Needle still stands]. Winds were so bad the first night the power company pulled repairmen off, out of fear they may die. I have seen in some cases where special power lines have been pulled for just charging facilities. Saw that an EA station at my local QFC grocer last year in the summer, was operational. Where the store was running on a generator on it's loading dock.

Elon said, "Excess government spending is what causes inflation". Boy is that too simplistic. Shortages of goods, and shortages of labor, with the corresponding need to raise wages across the board are big drivers of inflation. And inflation is a positive feedback loop for more inflation. In some countries that has led to crazy runaway and accelerating currency failures. Think of going to any restaurant. They had to raise all their workers salaries $3 or more per hour in order to retain them, since suddenly there were far more businesses needing workers than there were workers to fill all the positions. And the supply chain and transportation workers servicing the restaurant also had their wages increased. Then remember that their food ingredients, and other inputs (paper goods, cleaning supplies, ...) that the restaurant must have also became scarce with the pandemic, and its economic aftermath. So prices for all these rose steeply as the whole market competed for limited supplies. It is not that hard to see why prices have inflated for many reasons that have little to do with government spending. It was a worldwide market phenomena, even in countries which did not increase spending to try and help their citizen's through the dark times. Note that this these spending increases were implemented in both the Trump and Biden years. And there was some corporate exploitation of the crisis, some record profits reported, but the Dem's overplay this component just as the Repub's overplay inflation as the cause. I'm not saying that inflation has not been brutal on people, as the wage increases for the most part have not matched inflation, nor have fixed income raises kept up. You also have to look at how government spending can help spark economic recovery, help modernize our economy, and help us better compete in world markets in precisely the sectors where growth is happening, and we might lose out. Government spending can also help make our lives better when directed toward infrastructure that needs repair, and into sectors that give us cleaner air and water, better health care solutions, better education, affordable childcare, etc. These improvements can improve our health, both mentally and physically. Unfortunately we give corporations too much free reign in our country, and they can freely addict us to unhealthy pastimes and food, with all kinds of harmful ingredients mixed in. Though I fear RFK JR's potential effect on our country's disease immunity, I am hopeful he can clean up our food industry. The very same big food companies that sell us food doctored with crap, even including known carcinogens, sell much healthier versions of their products to Canadians and Europeans, simply because their governments stand up to big ag and food companies. They regulate what can be sold and marketed for healthier kids and citizenry. You know, responsibly doing work that governments should be doing. And perhaps there are some ingredients in our vaccines that are ill advised and should be removed. I would be all for that if it was science based and did not weaken our overall immunity to those devastating diseases of humanity's past.

Something I haven’t heard you guys consider, but I think the main use of Optimus will be for work for hire jobs. Send you Optimus out to work 7 days a week, 12-18+ hour days for $10/hr. Slightly less than min wage. It would be cheaper for the everyday consumer to buy these models ready to work for hire, opposed to companies paying for 100’s or 1000’s of bots for each company. It’s cheaper for the companies to hire hourly and the consumer responsible for maintaining and operating. As long as bots can go to the consumer first and at these prices it’s looking like this could be the very outcome.
@MikeKates5 күн бұрын

My whole day was often execution of plan B, C, and or D when A was no longer an option. Real world issues of things you never thought you would see happen a lot. How is a remote control toy that doesn’t even have speech capabilities considered to be groundbreaking? Yawn!!

Guys, I really enjoy your content but I find that the cutaway gags can occasionally be a bit distracting and feel a little childish at times. Just wanted to share my honest feedback.

6:15 I'd need Optimus to be a lot less than 30K USD for it to be an automatic buy, plus I'd like to have some assurance it would NOT be stepping on and kicking the cats. Long term, I see optimus as my at home caregiver as I fade into dotage, and of course 30K USD would be a bargain if it largely obviated the need for a human caregiver, but right now it would be mostly because it has been a lifelong dream to have a robot buddy, ever since first reading Asimov's "I, Robot" around 60 years ago.

I love your show. Just a small correction, the flag you were waving in the Sun Spots part is a New Zealand flag and not an Australian flag.

There is only one "n" in "pundit." But there are two "r's" in "peripheral." It is uncular to me why these words are so hard for people.

The tele-operated robots aren’t a bad thing. If you are going to Mars, it might make more sense to stay in orbit and control the Optimus on the ground. Add haptic sensors for immediate feedback.

With a next-gen VR goggles + sensory feedback, it could be just as realistic as being there inside a bulky space suit.

18:07 unless an until full self driving becomes 100% reliable the more Robo cabs there are out there the more that small small percent of issues grows. So there will probably always be a need for someone somewhere to be able to intervene for Tesla and for us humans when Skynet I mean Robo cabgoofs up. 😆

I doubt most families can afford the robovan...and a lot of people will take a long time to trust a computer to drive their 2 year old around.

Why would they buy one when they can just rent the ride?

What cargo cult designers decided that they should put the charge port on the opposite side to Teslas, leading the clashes at superchargers and he need to update them with new software and longer cables? Clearly they weren't thinking and just assumed charge points would somehow be like petrol pumps and have one on both sides.

Timestamp 43:05 is a New Zealand flag. Not Australian.

Easy mistake. They are near neighbours with a bit of sea between them with similar flags like the USA 🇺🇸 and rUSsiA 🇷🇺 red white and blue, with horizontal stripes on both .😊
