@@windowsdown3684 Yes, hooked into my solar. Connected in May and was off-grid until early September when the crap British summer gave way to rain, and more rain, and now lots of rain. Now still running about 75% off solar and battery, remaining 25% from the grid. If I had 2 x Powerwalls, I might be able to survive the periods of rain with going back on the grid. I will know better once the year is up, but so far, well worth getting the Powerwall 2.

Holy sh!t about Redwood Materials. I openly wondered if they would have adequate supply, as BEV batteries last quite long, there now is a million mile battery, and once a BEV dies, its pack can be repurposed for residential stationary storage. I am shocked at how few device batteries are needed and how few are recycled. Adequate supply is great news.

To build on this I liked Lars' point about commentators on cobalt use. I have smacked down dozens of idi0ts on YT and LinkeIn who post sh!t talk about BEVs using cobalt and child slavery. I simply say, "as written on a cobalt free device." Cobalt has serious concerns but those can be addressed and the now dominance of LFP massively reduces cobalt use.

Chevy is Front wheel drive, not 4 wheel drive, and the real price is $35,000 without EV credit. Low charging speed, cheap fabric interior and only 220Hp, catching fire may be optional, have to wait and see.

You may be waiting a while, the reason Tesla has "recalls" is usually because Tesla saw an opportunity to improve the system and sent out an OTA to all customers, legacy automakers policy is to not change anything until they have a new model. The recall FUD is caused by NHTSA insisting that updates are published as recalls.

In regards to the Chevy Equinox, “FWD” means front wheel drive, not four wheel drive. The equinox does but tell have a four wheel drive model but an all wheel drive model (AWD). Also, as far as the base model for $27k (with credit), I believe that is a model that they are not yet selling. I believe they’re cheapest version cost substantially more than that.

Great stuff, Lars. A mainstay of your weekly news show is your overview of progress in EV uptake around the world. But I am sometimes having to puzzle things out. Sometimes I'm trying to figure out whether the percent is for Tesla or all EVs. Sometimes I'm confused by whether a percent is for BEV or NEV. Sometimes, I am not sure whether a percent is for EV market share or EVs in a country's "fleet." As someone who has done alot of scientific writing and editing, my solution would be to have a style guide for how I refer to things and to use it religiously when writing my script for a segment or show.

The Equinox isnt bad but the charging is far worse than the rating indicates. The battery voltage is very low it needs a ton of amps which overheats if you charge at one of the faster 350kw stattions that support those amps. Kia has a better solution. I think the 2025 model is supposed to fix it though.

Congratulations, Lars, that fully 96% of all car sales in Norway in Sept 2024 were EVs. And this despite Norway's nominally "hostile to EVs" cold climate and remote from civilization terrain. Norwegians are really mastering use of EVs in cold weather. And we are still effectively in the FORD MODEL T era of EVs - just 2nd generation in from from the earliest mass production of Roadsters and Model S not even 20 years ago! Or think of today's EVs as the 1930s equivalent of fighter aircraft: no longer wood and cloth biplanes, but only the first generation of all metal monoplanes. Things will only continue to get better - safer, cheaper, more reliable, longer range, less dependence on rare minerals - as EV progress keeps moving forwards

Best in Tesla - Tesla semi will Likely only get Active Safety first, then Highway autopilot , and later EAP+ and possibly Platoon Following ONLY using EAP+. the whole platoon will only Require (1) human Driver to Direct Multiple semi in the Future. Model Y beating the F250 in US sales is bad news for Ford. Juniper version of model Y should put it on top of this list. And, If Tesla is able, or willing to produce a cheaper car, it will mark a new chapter for Tesla and stick a fork in legacy Auto. Of course RoboTaxi will be important for Tesla and should mark the transition crossover point from ICE to BEV’s. Energy and Optimus should add a Trillion dollar valuation each by 2030.

What is the Gov going to do when Tesla is the Monopoly car company in the US? With Tesla building millions of Tesla Cabs nobody is buying cars and now Tesla has a Monopoly and other companies want that money and they are willing to pay Congress to get it! FSD is too safe and no competitors can copy it, that makes it a Monopoly! Tesla will have to lease out it's FSD. It is a safety issue that no other company can afford to spend 10 years and $10 billion trying to compete! The market is unfair with Tesla being the biggest Battery producer in America and that is a Monopoly! Tesla Bot has 97% share of the bot market! That is a Monopoly! Something must be done! I know it violates the current way of viewing the world but I have to share my own personal questions. Specifically the performance of GM and the fact that they have been upset from their position as the largest auto manufacturer in the world by units sold annually and total revenue annually. It appears to me that there is multiple factors responsible. There is Ofcourse the disruption that EV’s have introduced however that really is not a valid excuse for the absolutely abysmal performance the past few years since they were literally number one in the industry which should have been an enormous advantage over all of other companies in the industry. Also the fact that they have been in business for over 100 years should have been an advantage. Despite these facts they have failed miserably and have been lying, having powerful connections lye on their behalf and making absolutely absurd claims about how they have these ingenious plans to capture the title of first place in the automotive industry once again. I think that it is obvious now that they have lied to their shareholders for years and in my opinion have literally defrauded stock investors intentionally which is a criminal offense as well as immoral. Now to be clear I do not have any bias against the idea of women’s rights . I do disagree very strongly with the idea that there is not any difference between men and woman and that there are no circumstances that exist that there is a definite advantage and clear benefits to having a particular sex performing certain roles. My point is that maybe just maybe shareholders made a huge mistake when they elected a female for ceo. I think there is an argument that can be made that under Mary Barra GM has steadily declined and is now headed for bankruptcy
