A reason that I bought a Tesla was the cheaper charging available so I could use my EV for more trips to Europe and around the UK. Also out of the few times I have used them a 12 minutes stop was all that I needed. Great to have more interaction with Jonas. I feel it helps with him acting the sceptic.

Who cares if you are parked on plain tarmac or painted. As long as you can charge your EV quickly and at a sensible price. Good info and discussion with Jonas.

Even if I did need a disabled spot I would be making a bee line for the cheaper Tesla chargers 39p v 79p no contest. Even their 22Kw AC chargers are 49p it's a bit unrealistic but I guess if that's all you can use they have you over a barrel.

Great video Dave, i do like the minimalistic cabinet design of the tesla. Great to hear Jonas getting involved too.

EV bays are usually wider anyway. I'd say the bigger issue for some older or disabled people is some of the cable weights. Tesla ones are relatively light. But the CCS connector is a bit awkward. If the cable is heavier or stiff, it could be an issue. I think the big one near Gatwick has a person on hand most of the day to help out. But that's a rare thing.

Low charge rate could be due to low temperatures if the cars can't/don't precondition before charging.

I believe all Gridserve Electric Fourcourts do have 'Megapacks as well as solar' but obviosly that's only 4 of their sites currently. Maybe it's planning and locaton that Gridserve are in stops this happening hard to say :)

biggest difference is cost, this time of year my enyaq gets around 220 ish miles with my heater with a usuable 77kwh battery means on a gridserve charger at 89p kwh cost it would cost me £68 for a full charge which is just ridiculous

A little out of your area, but only 4 miles from me is a new services opening on the M1 @ J31. It looks to have at least 20 Tesla Superchargers and a few white ones can't see what they are until the services open on the 17th Jan. I now have 30+ tesla chargers within 4 miles of where I live (20+12) but unless the new ones are open to all I can't use any of them, luckily I charge from home or if I need a quick top up there are 9 Ionity 350kW nearby.

Green bay = trucks, albeit, it still looks small (clearly without their trailer!). Not sure where you are, but this if Tesla is open to all, surprised to see other cars using Gridserve, way more expensive.

it is BAD now Gridserve use to be cheap per a kWh. in the 29p range not that long ago now there not as cheap as other companies there is no problem for more than one company putting in chargers so can be price etc pricing hopefully cheaper

Grid serve and others really need to reduce their pricing. I would rather pay a subscription to Tesla for cheaper and faster charging. Sorry Dave it, a nonsense trying to compare EV plugin time to filing up at pump, plugging in and walking off quickly is great if the weather is bad, most chargers have no overhead weather protection at all for the users. Filling up at pump takes 5 minutes and is overhead weather protected. Why were EV charging points not given roofs to help protect users?

EV charging does have some advantages over refueling an ICE vehicle. I still remember standing for five minutes+ filling my old diesel van up at 5 o'clock in the morning in the freezing cold with wind driven rain pelting my face. I Much prefer quickly nipping out of the car plugging in and then jumping back in the car with the heater on or if I'm home just plug in and walk in the house job done.

What happens when the government wants to recover the fuel duty that public charging doesn’t currently include; and either introduces a pay per mile charge or an additional duty to public/home charging? These public charging prices are not going down, the only way is up.

1) Electricity prices are still about double what they were before the invasion of Ukraine. 2) Electricity prices could go lower than they were before with cheap renewables. 3) Decoupling the price of electricity from gas would reduce prices further. 4) If we give the money we give to the fossil fuel industry in subsidies to green energy project and CPO's instead prices would be even lower. 5) If we improve air quality by removing ICE cars and gas boilers we will have a healthier more productive population (more tax payments). 6) If we improve air quality by removing ICE cars and gas boilers we will have a healthier population lower health care costs.

@ That’s quite a dystopian list and wishful thinking! Renewables are not cheap at all. Wind turbines and their blades often fail prematurely, they cannot be recycled due to their composition, so they are buried and new turbines cost a fortune. Solar panels also have a limited lifespan. The downtime, when there is no sun or wind, requires the energy to be stored, which is one reason behind the utility companies wanting to use your EV’s battery as a backup. It’s all an unnecessarily wasteful concept. Toxic batteries have a very limited lifespan. What will those happy workers drive and at what cost when ICE is no longer? Who and how will produce and process or deliver the food? Your statement that “decoupling the price of electricity from gas would reduce prices further” needs a bit of explaining. How does self-imposed restriction on the variety of energy sources ever reduce the price of energy?! That just doesn’t make any sense!
@nervousfrog10157 секунд бұрын
@@ComeJesusChrist It's not wishful thinking it's just counting unlike your clutch of daily mail FUD. Regards price decoupling just Google "marginal pricing electricity" and that will explain why the cost of electricity is linked to gas.

tesla and other superchargers share power(more than one vehicle hooked up, power is divided) and at 80% slow down. So the claims of full charge in minutes is not likely true in real life, just on paper.
