The truth is, Tess is trying to make money. She doesn't care about fat people. She cares about her net worth. I imagine there is some truth in her book, but she probably didn't even write the book herself. Who knows if her brother is lying, or if he's being honest. But can we believe an obese woman who claims to be anorexic, but also likes to post videos of herself binge eating? Usually anorexics don't want to be seen eating at all. Support Tess if you find her entertaining. Don't expect any authenticity from her, though.

Couldnt have said it better myself, you are so right as you said someone who claims to be anorexic posting videos of them binging doesnt hold much credibility, none to be exact, do people with anorexia binge? yes but it happens in secret when no one is looking, some doesnt even want to be seen eating at all other do but that is to make people believe that they are "normal" and from what i have seen she does seem to care more about money and fame than the cause she claims to support ( fat positivity)

Wow. As an actual diagnosed anorexic. I am confused but also offended. She's pretending to have anorexia because she's in denial she has a different eating disorder? Because my teeth started cracking and falling out, my hair and nails stopped growing and now I'm permanently on heart pills and have a hard time eating anything that isn't cottage cheese. It's just so shocking she's LYING about having anorexia. Also body dysmorphia and anorexia don't always go hand in hand. I don't think I'm fat, I've never thought I was fat and I know I looked disgusting and gross when I was skeletally thin. I don't have body dysmorphia. You can have body dysmorphia without being an anorexic. She clearly has an eating disorder that involves an overabundance of calories.

Yeah, that's the thing that pisses me off about the entire body positivity movement. Shouldn't it include EVERYONE??? If it's wrong to body shame those of us in larger bodies, Shouldn't the same hold true for thinner ones? It's like a clique back in high school. "Oh, you are the wrong kind of fat.....we are curvy fat, you are round fat.....you can't sit with us!!" People shame others in an effort to build up their own non existent self esteem. I'm obese and I'm not gonna even try to pretend I'm healthy. It's a journey and there is nothing wrong with trying to live your best life while getting your health and life back. And honestly.....I have had more support and helpful/sweet comments from people who are so called "fat phobic" They accepted me when the fat positivity cult saw I was trying to lose weight and improve my health and ditched my ass and talked shit while doing it. There is NOTHING positive about that!!

I have no doubt her eating and exercise habits may have made her metabolism slow down. Intermittent starvation can causes binges, tricking your body into thinking it’s starving, but it is still BINGEING, an eating disorder where you consume too much too quickly. It would be more believable if Tess said she had binge-eating disorder, but she’s not going to mess up her entire brand by admitting she got this heavy from eating.

Just yesterday I had an appointment with my ED therapist, and I asked her about Tess as we were wrapping up. She says it’s possible since we can’t see everything going on on someone else’s life through social media, but it’s EXTREMELY unlikely and she PERSONALLY doesn’t think she’s anorexic
@mattheweveland8335
@mattheweveland8335 3 жыл бұрын
I could see atypical anorexia, but likely more associated with depression/depressive episodes. Something that can be common in people with BED as well-- which, if you are over 300lbs you most likely do have. You just get disgusted with yourself for overeating and become depressed, and can resort to many of the same things people with anorexia do to make themselves skinny. They're often just not sustained. So you're just cycling through these ups and downs. Now does that make someone anorexic? I mean... that's a pretty shallow reading of the situation to get there. And really atypical anorexia may not even be the best description for that. It's just what we have. It's also worth pointing out that people like that typically really hate their bodies, which... is pretty off brand for her. And though there's certainly something to be said for loving the person you are, we shouldn't be taking that to the point where we are not only normalizing BED, but celebrating it. I'm also not sure how realistic it is to just demand all of society change their beauty standards/what they find attractive just to validate yourself.
@anaborja9724
@anaborja9724 3 жыл бұрын
@@mattheweveland8335 this is so well explained, and I couldn’t agree more. There’s a fine line between living yourself and normalizing unhealthy habits. @@youdontneedtoknowwhoiam6640 uh, no. Trying not to eat or to eat very little absolutely does not count as purging. Dieting in itself is not an eating disorder, even if some fad diets are... utterly stupid. It's just an addiction to food, a binge eating disorder. Doesn't mean they don't occassionally try even extreme methods or make impulsive, reactionary decisions out of frustration/desperation/depression, but at the end of the day the addiction is to food.

@@mattheweveland8335 if you binge then try and make up for it the next day by eating nothing/extremely small amounts of food that is a form of purging. While not the kind you'll see on TV, a lot of bulimics suffer this cycle of binging one day then eating nothing the next, which causes them to binge and start the cycle all over again. Edit: Dieting is not an ED, when did I ever say that? And how is a bulimic purging through means of vomiting not "impulsive, reactionary decisions out of frustration/desperation/depression"?

Tess is so frustrating to me. I hate the way she feels like she can just 'opt out' of being obese or unhealthy like it's something you decide to be? (meaning she thinks she can, at her current weight, 'decide' she's healthy and not obese--obv she could 'opt out' by making a change but she won't) Her rhetoric dragged so many people (myself included) into such a dangerous place for so long...I'm just glad I managed to escape before I hit 400 lbs (I was closer than I even want to think about). But she just seems like the kind of person who wants to be in the spotlight no matter what and no matter who she's hurting or using to get there, and it's infuriating.

As for you, I'm glad you are self aware and are working on this. Kind of reminds me of Kutner from the show House MD because during a certain episode, he hated bullies and even attacked one, and Taub assumed Kutner had been bullied when he was younger. At the end of the episode, however, you see Kutler going to apologize to a kid he tormented in high school. I love that twist and thought it was so realistic. My husband grew up with an abusive dad (my family was just your basic flavor of dysfunctional) and he taught me this. I had always thought of family as the ones it’s ok to be your worst self around. He showed me why the opposite is true and it helped me in so many ways. I wish more people would consider this way of thinking.

@@fiveandfour I think that, but my entire family refuses to see anything they do is wrong. Thankfully treatment to ME has gotten better, but that's because I've been the "good kid" for a long time and eventually snapped. However it is quite stressful to see no improvement elsewhere. Along with having the mindset of practicing being a decent human with family, Family Counciling really needs to be encouraged and not jut for families with little kids. Older teens and adults need it too because dysfunction is ageless.

Just the fact that this situation is so similar to the CreepShowArt situation, where she claimed to be stalked and harassed by someone, only for it to turn out she (still alleged) was the one doing the stalking and harassing, as well as talking behind her friends' backs, hyping herself up on an anonymous gossip website (which is against said website's rules) and lied about becoming homeless out of nowhere (she and her partner had planned it; he admitted it in an older video, which I think I heard was deleted); all of this makes me wonder if that's the case with Tess Holiday. Yes, her brother could have heard about the CSA rabbit hole and decided to apply that narrative to his sister, but the fact that he doesn't appear to be on social media whatsoever could indicate that he knows little to nothing about CSA. I'm not saying what he said was either true or false, just food for thought.

Tbh so did Shannon but Tess is more of a grandiose narcissist whereas Shannon is a vulnerable narcissist.

@@vania7302 The fact that she claimed she was diagnosed with a form of anorexia, despite not showing the signs of it, whether obvious or not, definitely makes me wonder if what everything she preaches is fact. I remember Michelle had made a video regarding that subject, including just what the symptoms of anorexia and its multiple forms are, while giving evidence that Tess doesn't necessarily follow said symptoms. My journey to self love is hitting hurdle after hurdle right now, I was in love with who I was for so long and got distracted by pushing to be better. All. The. Time. I then watched this video and I see how strong Michelle is, and it helps me. It really does, Michelle you are so strong girl and I just want to thank you for being a reasonable, kind voice on the Internet. Have a good day all xo .

I started to just barely feed into the body positive movement because I had gained like 20 lbs during quarantine, and as someone who’s always been into health and fitness (weightlifting, being nutritionally conscious) I couldn’t seem to lose that weight no matter what I did, so I started convincing myself that this was just my body now and I need to learn to accept it/love it. Well that didn’t last long, haha. I realized if I literally counted calories and exercised to stay in a caloric DEFICIT, I’d lose weight. And I DID 👏🏻🎉👏🏻 I had to treat weight loss like a scientific formula. Now I realize that when it comes to weight loss, there’s always something you can do to make yourself a healthier weight. No excuses. Michelle’s channel helps validate those beliefs 👏🏻👏🏻

good on you! queen!!! xxx it literally is calories in vs calories out. i wrote my story up above. i gained weight working a stressful job and ended up hospitalised very very ill, read all the books on the food i was eating and was HORRIFIED what i was putting into my body. i knew i couldn't go on. plus i was diagnosed with an ulcer and severely gluten allergic, i had no choice. but i just stuck to what i could eat and the weight came off so easy, no crazy workouts or diets. your body knows what it needs.

I'm so glad my old friend showed me your channel, you got great charisma and a healthy view on things without the unnecessarily chauvinistic way people usually defend their view on the internet. Keep up the good work Michelle, much love and respect from a little heathen in Sweden!

I love this channel. I got at in a positivity group because a woman posted saying her dr told her to lose weight to help her health condition and she didn’t know how to do that and still be body positive. All I replied was that we should be positive about our bodies at all sizes and the best way to show your body love is to take care of it. The hate I received was a huge moment for me, and I finally started taking my own advice. I’m still obese but I’ve consistently been losing weight for over a year. Over 100 down and 100 to go. But I feel better stronger and healthier already.

Since seeing how Megan Markle's half siblings turned on her when she started dating Prince Harry to turn around and be nice to her to get an invitation to the wedding to then turn around and shit talk again when they received no invitation, I take confessions from former friends and family regarding celebrities with a huge grain of salt.

I would believe it tbh. I feel Ms. Holiday is the definition of an attention seeker. But I do recognise that I have a bias against her so keep that in mind. *edit becuase I didn't know she wasn't married anymore
