What more can I say about this? Thank You, Tessa and Scott, for giving me the opportunity to work with you and the amazing team of The Thank You Canada Tour, and for trusting me to film you on the ice like this. You two are true symbols of inspiration meeting hard work, fortified by time and talent. You aren’t just national treasures, you are worldwide icons to the skating community, and the experience of filming your Gold medal free dance like this will forever be a defining moment for me.
You can help me continue to make figure skating videos by visiting my Patreon page at / oniceperspectives .
🎥__⛸__❄️ 💃🏻🕺🏻 Filming and Editing by Jordan Cowan (On Ice Perspectives)
Canadian Ice Dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir became the most decorated Olympic figure skaters in history when they won their second Olympic Gold Medal on February 20, 2018 at the PyeongChang Winter Games. Witness their Free Dance to Moulin Rouge, formatted and performed for The Thank You Canada Tour which ran from October 5 - November 24, 2018.
More about Scott and Tessa - en.wikipedia.o...
This video was shot and edited by Jordan Cowan (On Ice Perspectives) in Oshawa, ON on November 1, 2018 for The Sports Network‘s episode of TTYCT which aired on CTV on Feb 11, 2019.
On Ice Perspectives is an ongoing video series that brings figure skating to a new audience on social media, using cinematic storytelling combined with excellent skating skills and a deep connection with the athletes themselves. It’s creator, Jordan Cowan, is a former Team USA ice dancer and professional ballroom dancer now making a career as an on ice filmmaker. Utilizing his talents with cinematography and figure skating, he made history as the first Live TV figure skating camera operator for Torvill and Dean’s Dancing On Ice, and has filmed for award winning documentary filmmakers in New York and LA.

Robin O It’s the sign of a great skater when you can look past the blades to see all the movement and details above them! When you’re this good, the edges are the simplest part of what you do. (Plus I filmed this with the idea that TSN was only going to use my footage in their lifts to complement their other cameras during the live taped show, so hiding the empty seats was the reason I looked up so much!)

I've seen their performance at PyeongChang at least a thousand times but how did I never come across this video before? A completely new perspective, so intimate and emotional! I'm speachless, this is as close as it can get to perfection, wow ❤❤❤

Jordan, I know that perfection doesn't exist, but this is pretty close. I love the change of perspective, I love how close you are to Tessa&Scott while skating, I love the close-ups, I love all the emotions. Seeing Moulin Rouge through your eyes and through the so different angle from on the ice, it amazes me once again and on a completely different level. I could rant about it for hours. Really. Thank you so much for working with them. Thank you for this Masterpiece.

OMG this camera work for this performance is like looking at the most beautiful box of chocolates, I can’t decide which moment I like more. I have watched as many videos of this program as I could find and this is, IMO the most personal and intimate presentation captured. Even to hear the sound of the blades is amazing. I have also seen this show live with the best floor seats and I can say that watching this video is almost better. Seeing the live performance was spectacular but this is the best. Mic drop to you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm really sad that I just found out this video exists, but words can't describe how thankful I am that it does. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart. Virtue/Moir is my favourite ice dancers in the world, and this amazing performance is the one I love the most. It's breathtaking, beautiful and out of this world. I watch the Pyeongchang video religiously or else I'll go insane (lol) especially because I will never get to see them perform in real life after their retirement announcement. Finding this video is like finding a treasure for me, but in 4K! Once again thank you so so so so much, Jordan! It's perfect. You're the hero we need, but don't deserve.

This camera work….shows more of Scott’s angle/perspective in the performance. In the Olympic version, and other competition versions, it’s hard to look at the program from Scott’s perspective as Christian, how Scott’s Christian is angry and is in control of Satine, and the more Satine looked perfect and catching attention to everyone, the more Christian is jealous of Satine in how she’s selling her body to the crowd. But when we switch to “Come What May”, the camera starts to go back and forth between Tessa and Scott like it’s a dialogue between two people, how Scott’s there for Tessa and Scott needs Tessa’s beauty to keep going and that they need each other to succeed, but in the end, this camera work gives such an interesting insight on Scott’s perspective on this piece. It’s interesting because most every other routine Tessa takes the spotlight and there’s balance because there’s romance involved, but this camera work sheds spotlight in the passion that Scott has with ice dancing…and not just he’s incredibly attracted to Tessa on the ice the whole time lol.
@fatimabeirao4714
@fatimabeirao4714 3 ай бұрын
From a technical perspective, Scott and Tessa were, as always, very perfect in their performance. However, in the present exhibition it seems that there is less connection and complicity between Scott and Tessa, just like we were used to seeing in the relationship between Scott and Tessa , a situation that could be justified by the following aspect. According to what was said, Scott and Tessa had a romantic relationship after the 2018 Olympics, but for some reason there was a disagreement between them, which led to their effective relationship ending around July 2018, which means that in October 2018 Scott and Tessa were already in a very recent period of their emotional separation. And perhaps that was the reason why in this performance they expressed less passion and less connection between them in their performance.
@VWYL900802
@VWYL900802 3 ай бұрын
@@fatimabeirao4714 you watch too many promo/gossip columns on them (believe I’ve been there, there was a fanfic of their relationship online back in 2014, I know). Their whole thing, why they work has always been because they love each other but they can’t be together. Scott will always have to chase Tessa. It’s evident in Valse Triste, it’s evident in Umbrellas of Cherbourg. When they tried it out later in their career they knew it’s not gonna work because it jeopardizes their careers, because even after they retired, they still have to do Stars on Ice, or just about any exhibition things. They have tried when they were kids for a year because the whole town was hyping their relationship and that’s when they knew in order to succeed in ice dance, they have to give up their relationship in order to keep the spark alive. This performance has nothing to do with the breakup, it’s more to do with camera angles that did them so well because it’s about jealousy
