The Yashica TL Electro looks like a basic SLR but ends up being futuristic and a solid performer.

Hi Dan, that's a great video from you. This Yashica was my father's camera for many decades and he has taken thousands of wonderful photos with it all over the world. He gave it to me a few years ago, he doesn't need it anymore. Now it's part of my collection and therefore something very special, a camera with history. The lenses that come with the M42 Gweinde are great and I still use them to this day for photography and filming with my Lumix DLSM. Best regards from Germany, Bernie

I bought one at a flea market, but it was so banged up I couldn't use it. So I took it apart for the lenses and mirror. It was a very well-built camera.

I just bought one today. Sadly the shutter has some issues - what looks like seal foam on it, and won't fully return at slow speeds. Always glad to see you review cameras I end up buying.

The foam on the shutter curtain is a known issue but has nothing to do with what you describe. It's a lubrication issue.

@@MrAnalogDan12 Ah I see. Is that an easy fix? I disassembled the front but haven't removed the mirror box. I'm hesitant to since I rather it continue working at the limited speeds than not work at all.

I got the AX a couple days ago. But it came with a Minolta 55mm 1.4. Not bad for 24 bucks ebay. I bought it for the lens but the camera is in such good shape I'm buying the battery adapter. Wish the bulb setting worked without the battery.

Thanks for this review. The Yashicas are nice cameras, very well made. I was impressed by the results from the lens. What film did you use?

Hi dan. does the camera function without the batteries?
@MrAnalogDan12
@MrAnalogDan12 15 күн бұрын
@@matthewedge8333 yes. But works better with them unless you use an external light meter.

Hi Dan, would you recommend a flash to go with this camera?

Thanks Dan, really appreciate the reply. I have a 50mm f1.7 lens on my Yashica TL-electro and I just bought two lenses (Yashikor Aux. Telephoto 1:4, and Yashikor Aux. wide angle 1:4) however they’re just slightly too big to screw onto my lens. Is there anything I can do to make them fit?
@MrAnalogDan12
@MrAnalogDan12 6 ай бұрын
@@mollyrose1599 these were intended to be used with the Yashica electro35. What you need is M42 lenses.

I've got one. It really impressed me when I used it recently. But I have to say that I didn't care for the metering system. It works, but I found it quite vague in operation.
@MrAnalogDan12
@MrAnalogDan12 6 ай бұрын
If you don't use the meter, it's a simple camera : Focus, shutter speed and aperture. Oh yeah, and fun !

what was the name of the adapter you use instead of a battery? which one would you say is easier?
@MrAnalogDan12
@MrAnalogDan12 5 ай бұрын
There is no brand name. I guess the seller makes them himself. For daily use I'd recommend adapters. These batteries are not easy to find

Hi Dan, Love your videos. Super informative and well done. So, here's my newbie stupid question....you mentioned if you "stop it down" you can get some very sharp photos. What does stopping it down mean?
@MrAnalogDan12
@MrAnalogDan12 10 ай бұрын
It means "close the diaphragm" or the iris.

I found this camera while looking through my mom’s old stuff! I’d love to get into film photography but Unfortunately the battery cap is missing. Does it need the battery to operate or will it work without them?
@MrAnalogDan12
@MrAnalogDan12 Жыл бұрын
It will work. But you will need a light meter. Could be an app on your phone.
