you need to adjust the floatlevel on the carb, thats what makes it cut off when you brake hard, probably why the previous owner had the idle set that high, you also have a misfire going on. probably a plug gettoing fouled from the carb overlow problem.

DANGER CAN KILL YOU. My best friend was killed by his 427 68 vette when the motor mounts broke on full acceleration. Engine locked up pedal to full RPM. GM did have a recall from 64 to 74 on mounts. Install new design with steel interlock plate.

L88 cam and a good set of aluminum heads would be great since it's not a numbers matching car. All the interior including the weather stripping can still be bought. Maybe 5k for the paint and bodywork. It would look like a $100k corvette.

Nice car... but this car is a '69 model. A '68 shouldn't have the Stingray emblems on the fenders, those didn't appear until the '69 model year, and the reverse lights were under the bumpers in '68, this car has them in the inner tail lights, again that wasn't done until '69. If the VIN and title say '68, then this car has been seriously screwed with... wrecked and rebuilt or stolen and VIN swapped. Also, the hood is not an "LT1" hood, the LT1 wasn't introduced until '70 but these hoods were used from '68 to '74, it's the standard hood for all big blocks. The LT1 was the only small block engine that came with the big block hood.

Nope, that’s definitely a 1968 that someone has added some 1969 features. Note the door push button (a 68 feature), the dash ignition switch like someone else mentioned, and the larger steering wheel. It’s easy to add the Stingray script and change out the rear valance panel / add the reverse lights in the inner brake lights locations. Plus, this obviously wasn’t an original side pipe car as the rear exhaust cut outs are plugged (not very attractively either) and side exhaust was only offered on the 69 for the C3.

You have to be very careful with C3 Vettes due to rust around the "birdcage" - i.e. the metal cage around the passenger compartment. Those tops all leak and the water makes it's way in and rust prevention was for crap back then. Car can look showroom perfect and that birdcage can be rotted away. More of an issue with T-top cars. It can be repaired but the body has to come off the car and weld repairs made or a new cage welded in - expensive and time-consuming to fix. You have to remove the kick panels and see how things look, look at the top edge of the windshield, around the doors and look for rust bubbles.

Most of your cars are kida clapped out, BUT, the prices are good. I note you say "first drive", and I know what that means. The Corvette here, needs a bunch of work done. But simple stuff, like tires, bushings, alignment, brakes, a tune up, maybe a new EFI carb, top end and new cam and you got yourself a solid classic. The prices will only go up.
