I had a 72 Monte Carlo Custom. We built it at GM Arlington where I worked. Wish I had it back. Mine was black on black with buckets and an automatic floor shift with a 400 ci motor. I ordered the car and built it out the way I wanted it. I was very fortunate that it came to the body shop on my shift. My supervisor let me follow the build and do every welding job, I could do on it. Very nice car.

That's so cool! It's rare to have any past Chevrolet assembly plant employees reply to KZbin videos, or even on Facebook posts. Arlington didn't build Montes before the '72 model year, correct?

@@danjanes8689 you are correct. We did not build them until the 72-model year. Also black was regular color in 71 but it was special order for 72. I paid $50 extra to order it in black. I was shocked when I was told about that. I think I still have the window sticker for it.

I miss my 1970 Monte. Took out the 350 and dropped in a 400ci small block from a GMC Jimmy. Bored 0.30 over to get 406ci filled with parts from Summit Racing Equipment. Pushing a little over 400hp back in 1991.

I had the same car , same color and top. Except i had cragers s/s , installed aftermarket T top sunroof. Motor had a ederbrock manifold ,Carter 4 barrel, crane cam , roller lifters , mallory ignition , hooker headers ,b&m shift kit. Best memory of this car was the second gear shift chirp !

That's a clean looking Monte Carlo, haven't seen the walk around video yet, but car has a posi unit and seems to have a decent gear, me and my wife come to Nashville a couple of times a year for a getaway, we live in Va, only 4.5 hours away, we live 15 minutes from Kingsport Tn. we are going to come down and see if we can't get one, Camaros, T/A's, maybe Chevelle's are our interest, the white Street Rod you just sold, you couldn't build it for that price. 👍

I am very surprised that Monte is still there. Like those subtle black stripes on that. (Throwing that rubber onto your camera lens is a great feature too !! Man that sucker can roll on out ! Overpriced,I have a 72 monte custom,from the factory-buckets,center console,power windows,locks and side mirrors,tilt wheel.350 smalley inexpensive to build, I would not go more than 8 depending on the motor,for that price I d rather have an ss something.
