Cant beat an El Camino. One of the coolest vehicles GM ever made. Thanks Nick!

The missing trim on the roof is from a very rare vinyl top option. Those pieces are now unobtainium. Solid project.

I use to work in the General Motors plant in Fremont, CA where these were made, they were going for $10,000. I thought that was a high price but ended up paying $10,000 for a low mileage used one a few years later. Throughly enjoyed my '79 and my '86 el Caminos 💖 💕 💓 ❤ 💗 ♥ 💖. Great vehicles. It would be interesting if you could check the Cert. label to see if it was made in the Fremont plant. Thank you for your detailed descriptions. Keep up doing your wonderful job 👏 👍.

I know I've given you a hard time on here about the prices of some of the cars but keep it in context. I'm talking about the market, not you, specifically. Case in point, I'd never thought I'd see the day that a 1980 El Camino was worth almost 3x what it cost new. You do a great job of keeping the videos honest and entertaining. 👍

Why does it appear as if the right side exhaust dead ends? Is it dual exhaust or single?
@jongiannino81503 ай бұрын
I noticed that too, it looks like it’s pinched off at the engine??
@Carl_Jr3 ай бұрын
If you look really close at 9:39 to 9:41 you can see an exhaust pipe coming straight down from the passenger side exhaust manifold, just outside of the transmission cooler lines. It looks like it Ts into the other pipe you're seeing that's pinched closed on the end. It's not easy to see, at all.

Though the Ranchero was 1st to the gate in '57 by 2 years, the Elco outsold it by almost 2 to 1. Even considering the Elco took 2 years off before reintroducing them. Just a little factoid. Chevy just had better lines and powerplants in my opinion. This is coming for a true Ford guy. I had a '71 Ranchero with the mighty Cleveland. I prefer the Elco. They did get rather boxy, but I bet they could bring it back and sell a bunch with a re-design. Same with Ford, I suppose. As for this one, I'm like eh.

I have a 1986 that I'm wanting to sell. It's the same exterior and interior as this one. Has a bench seat though. It was a one owner garage kept up til 2012. The guy passed away, and his son hauled rocks and wood in the back!! 🤬 Stupid human beings! 🤦🏼 It's all original except I put a 350 Turbo trans in her. She's got a factory positraction rear. She has 90 thousand on her now! She needs a good home!
