Very nice car! I love that it hasn’t been butchered. Even has the original radio still. The dash isn’t cracked! Definitely worth putting a few bucks into it.

I had the cousin. 1986 Grand Prix. I took the engine, transmission, and rear end out of a 89 trans Am. My graduation present to me in 1995. They don't drive well in Northwest Ohio winters. Lol blessings and lessons. That was a hard lesson. Lol

How you get a torque arm rear end to work with 4 link G body style ? You cut n weld brackets ??
@PHILLY2144 ай бұрын
The grand Prix not really its cousin they are both G body platform cars lmao

I had to put a 305 in the 68 Vette I had after 427 blew up. Very weak motor. I still have 427 in a patch of dog fennel.

@@PHILLY214 yes. It was my first custom car. Lots of fab work. Shaved door handles. Shaved trunk key. Took me almost my whole junior summer and senior year. Was my first work of art.

@@JackDavenport-e3j yea them little 305s could be best used as a boat anchor... I turned a 396 block into a 461 for my dad's pro-street 68 Camaro.

Sway link… those rubber bushings are notorious for cracking and falling apart on those G body’s. Located at the front A arms.

Always a cool car for an upgrade project, those things needed to come stock with the 350, the 305 is always a disappointment, one of the worst to work on too. Congratulations on your new addition to your family, best wishes, God bless!

For sure front and rear main seals will have to be replaced along with what's encountered in that journey.

I had a 81 Cutless Supreme, that made that noise, and I found out I had some shims missing on top of the A frame where the shocks are, and whoever had it before, didn't show that car no love at all. But it's a nice car to fix up and drive.💯 PS Congratulations on your new addition🌟 to the family to Nick and your Wife!🎊🥂💯

Vacuum leak causing fan to blow through defrost vent and not ac vent, car should run at idle after a test drive. Nice project car.
@mastergunnerysgt12584 ай бұрын
# 1 the paint was a sun baby from the s. west US, I don't think the noise came from ball joint covers, they don't make that noise, the center caps on the rims will make that sound if they are tight, when you hit a bump centrical forces will make them out of balance and they will make that sound like change, for 10K body paint ? For sway bars they go clung for every turn you make and I will stop it here. For this Monte SS is priced right in order to make theses possibilities come true.

The Monte was always a cool looking car but underpowered.. LS swap would make it a performer..

I guess the power trunk release button inside the glove box was an option? I like them like this without T-tops, these were nice driving cars peppy for their day and okay gas mileage.

Yeah.. suspension components wear out the rubber bushing rot away leaving 2 washers that will cause that jingle noise.

The noise you are talking about (I never heard in the video) but I gotta assume it's the same cuz I had 3 of them that did the same shit and it seemed to me to be coming from between the bottom of windshield and cowl/firewall area and were all solid cars, never figured it out, usually had the jams kickin

My neighbor across the street drove one of these for a family never him but he had some crazy hot daughters and we had a Pontiac po old near think it's a Cadillac 😅 lg that drove like a jet and had coffin door handles. Yep I wrecked it a metal horse and buggy wheel disguised as a mail box on some county road thought it would be funny to cause me to stop by planted the Gran Prix ❤❤ never chug a fifth of jack Daniels and then sneak off in dad's car. One of those times he didn't beat my ass for sometime 😮🎉 thanks 😊

Im a little confused, i was a toddler when this car was new but i thought the SS had the 350 in them, is that incorrect. Been look for a clean 87 or an 86 grand national.

The Monte Carlo ss never had the 5.7. they always had that smog choked 305. 180hp.i grew up with the g body coupes, wasn't an option. Perfect platform for one or an LS swap of some kind.
