Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown - What The Hell Is Going On?

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown has been radio silent for a couple months now despite a projected 2024 release. This is the longest time fans have had to wait for a newsletter and associated trailer since the big gameplay showcase last summer promised monthly updates.
It’s fair to assume that the developer will announce something major in July like they did last year. Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown's February newsletter highlighted how they’re done with the main bulk of development for the game, only working on optimization and server stability now.
KT is likely waiting for what Microsoft will reveal for Forza Horizon before making a committed release date. What’s most exciting is the recent retailer price listings for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown at the lean price of $59.99. Because of these factors, we’d be surprised if Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown isn’t released before the Winter quarter of 2024.

@@Nightboytothetop The people I see waiting for TDUSC are excited and to be honest this is the last game I even care about, My ps5 has sat there for years doing nothing. Hardcore TDU fans are more than looking forward to this game. Even a not great 'graphically' test drive game will still be better than all the other racers out there. I personally cant wait for it and hope the best for the game.

You're right... Golum 2.0 Not surprising considering the game is under the same publisher as that not optimized dumpster fire... People are already dunking on it on Steam, since Nacon released a demo yesterday. I tried playing it myself and was treated with a DirectX error...Can't even get into the freaking thing. Played a decent amount of new game releases from the past two years and this, which is not even an AAA title doesn't run...

I always preferred the idea of a 1 to 1 recreation of a city rather than Forza Horizon's shrunk maps. It was why I liked Test Drive Unlimited to begin with, and why I was so disappointed with the Crew Motorfest and its comparatively small Hawaii.

@@Adam-M- the original 2 games didn't have exact 1:1 maps. Yes, the size and shape and landscapes were quite authentic, but many roads are missing, purely fictional or simply differently layed out. But then again, this is just me being a smartass and sounding more negative or complainy then i am.

I hope it's nothing like The Crew Motorfest I loved the first two The Crew games but Motorfest is one of the worst racers I've ever played, it's truly infuriatingly awful Test Drive Unlimited on Xbox 360 was one of the first Online games I ever played and I played that shit every single day and loved every minute of it I still remember getting the Saleen Twin Turbo and someone told me to skip three gears on accelerating and it makes the car loads faster, it was a cheat back then

I'm a racing/driving game fan, and there has been no rumors around Forza Horizon 6, releasing in 2024. They might announce it at the Xbox Showcase, but chances are it will release in 2025. So, I don't think TDUSC is worried about going head-to-head with FH, this year? I think what's happened is the overall response to SC has been very tepid. There's no real excitement surrounding it from racing fans since The Crew Motorfest - The supposed FH killer - Tanked pretty badly. TDUSC is going to have to an uphill battle trying to compete with FH (whenever it releases) as well as regain the fun and wonder the original TDU games pioneered since these types of open world driving games are a dime a dozen these days.

FH has stagnated in recent years. They have great driving physics, tuning, etc etc, but it's the same game over and over with a different map. Plus, it's not available on Playstation so that's a huge chunk of people not able to play it unless they have a gaming PC. TDU will make Forza step up their game.

@@sookmahD The cause of the stagnation, Mike Brown (the woke, incompetent, inexperienced, and lazy Chief Creative Director from FH3 Hot Wheels to FH5 Hot Wheels who mismanaged the series to near destruction!) has left Microsoft, and been replaced with Torben Ellert, who has openly stated he wants to take the Series in a different direction entirely away from the "fortnite with Cars" that Brown wanted. So it may change, it may not, it depends on Microsoft. Just do not expect it to turn into NFS however, as Microsoft have mandated a PEGI 3/ESRB E age rating.

Forza Horizon Test Drive The Crew .. Each game has its own strengths, unique *quirks and features* and i'm glad that the franchises are so different from each other. The diversity is cool and you can always chose which game you want to play, based on its unqiue atmosphere and vibes.

As people often say, every publicity is good publicity. A huge announcement is being made 14 hours from now. We finished an ARG marketing event of the game. That can only mean good news! My thoughts after seeing these trailers etc : This is a random city, not Hong Kong. As someone who has partially lived in HK i was super excited to see a game pick up that dirty flashy HK vibe. But now i'm not so sure anymore. It looks very generic, with barely any recognizeable sights and locations. Cautiously waiting for full release and longer gameplay videos.
