Testing the electronic throttle body with a scanner is a good next step when having bad throttle body symptoms or signs of a bad throttle body. The electronic throttle control unit is vital for vehicle emissions. Electronic throttle body testing with a scan tool is fast and easy with tools like the D7, other comparable active scan tools can do this as well e.g., Autel. In summary, remember to test electronic throttle body with a scanner if you ever suspect it to be failing or have idle issues. Worn gears in a DBW throttle body results in increased discrepancy between the commanded and actual opening of the butterfly valve.

Hi I have the same tool great little tool .i hope you can help 🙏I have a ford ecoboost 1 litre 2018 with the code p2112 and it says throttle body actuator stuck closed.when I start the car it has no throttle response and shakes.when I turn engine off and restart it drives ok then it will do it again when you next start it.if i do what you’ve just done will it tell me if it’s throttle body or another part like peddle sensor thanks for a great video as it helps as iv got same tool 🙏

The Electronics throttle body testing Can you also use that same procedure as a throttle body relearn procedure if you replacing one on a 2005 Nissan Altima with a 2.5 engine in it when I take the throttle body out and replace it with a new electronic throttle body can I use that same procedure as a relearn procedure.? I suppose this'll be useful when testing throttle bodies without having to bolt them to the manifold and connect the air duct leading to the air filter. The D7 completing the procedure before you had a chance to narrate alongside was a subtle dig at being benched for too long.😂😂😂

A good one as usual. Is there a way to test a MAF using a scan tool. I have been getting P0172 and P0175 codes on my car.

I'm not aware of an active test for the MAF or MAP sensors. But there's a correlation between what the MAF sensor should read at idle and engine displacement. Try to searching the Internet for your engine. Also go through the list of the common causes of running rich. Eliminate one after the other, and you should find the culprit.

I think the D8 has been upgraded to support topography scans and it can work with the add-on accessories for key programming. However, note that if you do mostly key programming, there would be some functions only the dedicated advanced key programmers will do. E.g. Pulling pins on some Dodge cars.

This may be emissions related or down to the chassis. Do you know if your engine mounts are still good? What does your RPM read when this is happening?

What car? It's more about rectifying the reasons why those codes were thrown. The tool will only do diagnostics, except if part of the 'fixing' requires caliberation of parts.
