Test light VS Multimeter Vauxhall corsa HVAC blower not working

I was asked by a crane and scissor lift tech the other day why I use a test light instead of a multimer because he couldn't understand why and this corsa d hvac blower is a good example showing the results between a test light vs multimeter .

wouldn't it be a good idea after the repair to quickly test the amp value that the motor is pulling against what it should be in case motor is starting to burn out (and therefor could have been the cause to overload the wires) and will damage the repaired wires

Top class video. You would run into the same false diagnostic if you used an led test light or one of those test lights with a led bulb and a volt meter built in. Great explanation

Thank you for another great video!!! Multimeter is good 9 out of 10 times, but that one can make you go in circles or change good part, which is what good diagnostician don't prefer most of the time.

How's she goin'? Nice demo Igor. I think digital meters are pretty nice but they have their drawbacks. When I was working I used to like to have an analog voltmeter as well as the digital meter. The analog meter would often detect voltage fluctuations when the digital meter would just show a steady voltage. Thanks for posting this. A valuable trouble shooting tip!! Take care!!!

Great video I’ve been led down the garden path a few times seeing 12v on the meter and thinking all is well. If I remember correctly Watts divided by volts = amps so 55w bulb would be 4.5 amps.

You can see the difference with the test light when you went straight to a chassis ground. Load test is the best test. Cheers Matt

The 2 wires that you connect - why are those 2 wires even connected at this resister in the first place, when it seems it maybe would be better spurred further up the loom... This melting/burning wires seems to be a common fault on Corsa's - is this a fire hazard created by Vauxhall?? In addition, I've heard this burning could be caused by a tired/wearing blower motor pulling too many amps < if this is correct, then shouldn't there be a fuse in-line that should blow before the melting starts? I'm really intreged to know why that 5th wire would connect at the resister plug if it isn't needed to connect there 🤔

What causes wiring loom burn out. Is it the resister going bad that burns this out. I’m new to testing. Not to cars being in car sales. I’ve turned my hand try fix odd car. I have just done what you avoided here. Buying a fan not needed. My error was buying two new thermostat. When is circuit relay wiring. Fault. Stopping new themo open

Generally is a bad plug connector pin fitment causing resistance and consequently heat, but there are other factors to take into consideration for example the blower fan pulling to many amps . I hope it helps
