Excellent video, thank you. 'Mechanic' quoted £130 for parts alone. You have enabled me to diagnose, order parts and replace the blower motor myself. Job done in 10 minutes, and cost me £30!

I am no Car Mechanic, but I am an Engineer and I have to say how impressed I was at this video, it was Clear and concise and a pleasure to listen to you explain in plain simple English. It would have been a nice touch to have measured the resistance of the OLD and the NEW Fan and to have explained to all why kicking a Fan of this type can sometimes work, be it sometimes only a short term fix. I assume the reason you never went straight to the Fuse Box, was that it controlled the power to the switch as well as the Fan Mr Spence Eng

The heater fan on my daughters Corsa only worked sometimes if you give it a kick or wiggled the fan connection. I changed the resistor but it only worked on 4. I disconnected the plug to the fan and noticed that the contacts looked dry and oxidised. I gave it a squirt of contact cleaner and it is now working perfectly. Job done without removing any plastics.

Garage told me the blower engine was broken and to replace it you have to remove the entire dashboard, airbags, part of steering wheel etc. Would be expensive. Me after watching your video within 1 minute: "kicks the car", works again😅 Thankyou🙏

Cheers for this. I would hope the first thing you did was check the fuse? The amount of techs that never say they checked a fuse first before throwing parts at a car catches me off guard. I did check my fuse first then watched your guide to throw parts at it and it works. I have a happy 17 yo. Cheers

Nope, first thing I do is check for power. If it’s not there, then I check the fuse. Glad it worked out for you

Nice Rob. Lidl have a small gas fan heater at the moment. 60 euros. You can regulate the heat. Not too noisy and heats up well.

Blower motor issues seem like a common thing on D's.. A couple years ago mine first fried the resistor so the fan was only working on speed 4 then died completely too. Found a Denso original fan motor at a scrappy and a new resistor on ebay, problem solved. Sometimes it's also the wiring connector that has problems too (bad contacts and it essentially burns out). I again lost fan speed 3 recently so I'll have a look at the resistor again xD Fortunately on this car it's easy to access, you can even remove the glovebox to have more space as it's only 4 screws to undo.

Just wires from a test lead set I have. You could rig it up with wires more crudely if you don’t have one

Hi, so changed out blower motor, new one works at least the 4 different settings work, you can hear motor increase at each setting. My issue is there is very little air coming from any of the vents. I've checked cabin filter and all seems good there. Any ideas on what could be the cause. Please and thanks Regards Michael

For years my heater blower fans only worked on the maximum setting and as of last week it decided not to work at all. However my issue it’s with the fan settings not working it seems when I turn the knob to put the heater on it’s not even clicking at each setting, it’s moving freely and it seems like it’s almost loose? Not sure what the issue could be… any help much appreciated

Mines just stopped working on setting 1 2 3 but works on 4 does that mean the resistor has gone ? My MOT is in 4 days and I'm not sure if the blower will fail it 😔

My brother and i are driving a corsa from like around 2006 but The hester fan was ratteling and not working on The low levels only worked/rettled at 4 but now its not doing anything anymore only 2-3 SECONDS when You kick The fan motor or drive in a Pothole is it the resistor or what else can it be ???

Sounds like you need a resistor and a motor. Only speed 4 means resistor. Rattling means motor.

Shame you had to replace the entire motor, I get replacing them from the scrap yard, but a new unit will cost you over 50€ -- not cheap. Would have loved to see troubleshooting the actual motor unit itself, perhaps all it needed was a new set of brushes?
