Anyone having lived in countries where little tuk tuks are common or motocycles are common would not be surprised by this so much. The US is in dire need of embracing motorcycle travel that is actually affordable and easier on the environment kind of. This is an excellent solution that provides all the safety that a normal bike cannot provide.

With a modicum of common sense you can see that this is the future of transportation. This same concept has been proposed in the most developed countries of the world. The only thing missing is consumer support for fearful manufacturers to bring these marvels of advanced engineering to market.

The American personal car addiction is harder to kick than a heroin habit. Electra Meccanica just gave up because of lack of interest due to people hooked on over sized steel caged climate controlled lounge couches. I got my Arcimoto 16 months ago and just preordered a rental from Nimbus. It will come out in the next decade what a huge mistake those large obscenely over powered Teslas were. Each one contains enough materials to make 6 Nimbus Ones. So which one is sustainable and does not squander battery minerals?

Wow. First, this is the BEST Nimbus One review so far, hands-down. You actually let the founder speak and because of that I finally saw the charging port (J1772) and dedicated plug for the first time. Amazing. Seeing that, I'm pretty sure that my Tesla Wall Connector would be able to charge the Nimbus using a J1772 adapter. I would have liked to have seen the lockable storage compartment in the back. How does it open? How much space? However, you really pushed the Nimbus a bit and you're about my size so I could see how I would fit. I loved seeing you lean the thing and comment on that. It would also be nice to see the turning radius demonstrated, but I'm sure that'll come in another review. Great job! This morning I put a deposit down on a Nimbus One S, which has the top speed of 75mph, more range, and a fixed battery. I would love to review this myself!

I might add there's an additional rationale for owning: Recreation. It certainly offers practicality and urban mobility convenience, but I can see many people buying it simply because it's fun. There's a reason Arcimoto renamed their three-wheeler the FUV. Repeated test drives from a wide group of people kept yielding a common response... this thing is a blast to drive. It now looks like Nimbus has a speedier version listed on their website... the One S. That would be my machine. 🙂

This is much better suited to the British market than the Aptera. The Aptera is too wide for our roads. We need a narrow and enclosed two seater vehicle that can go as fast as a scooter but is suited to narrow roads and economic parking. Our weather is s#!t, so having a motorbike is for the brave only. I can honestly see this thing replacing a car for lots of people in the UK. I love this thing. It's awesome. Bring it to the UK.

@kieronimo1
@kieronimo1 Жыл бұрын
@@arlenbell4376 Yes, but with the speed that the nimbus s can go, it's closer to a multi-purpose vehicle. All of these electric two seaters have their benefits, but a vehicle that can tick all (or most of) the boxes is what is needed in our market would be optimal. People don't want to have two vehicles (one for the city, and one for the motorway); they want one ring to rule them all. If Aptera were to have a narrower tilting two seater but engineer in the aerodynamics, solar capability and safety of the Aptera, it would be a win. I'm also interested in the idea of the city transformer (and a few other vehicles with adjustable wheelbases.. An Aptera/Nimbus style vehicle with a speed adjusting wheelbase could morph between small city car and and a larger, faster motorway/highway car. I know that something like that would have to compromise on weight, range and efficiency (ie. you wouldn't get 1000miles on one charge), but If I were an engineer developing these things, that would be the vehicle I would want to try to make.

Agreed. It's a perfect vehicle for the city I live in as well. I would say the steering wheel and the self tilting are the main factors that separate it from the feel of a 3 wheeled scooter. I think mileage will vary on how natural it feels while driving.

Speed is factored in so you can't just go full lean at a stop. Need more lean with more speed, just like a motorcycle, or put a different way, need to have more speed with more lean. Works out the same. I would love to see more lean angle too (up to 45°) but I'm sure the people at Nimbus have very good reasons for limited it to 33°.

Hint and just my opinion when you test drive remember that portion of the video be ready with lots of feedback meaning adjectives watch top gear to see what I mean incorporate what is already a winning formula and think of yourself as the host of a well watched show otherwise all that most excellent production value is wasted in filming a giddy repetition or in otherwise a host bantering poorly. i’m not saying that is characterizing other videos but that is the end result you will see after a long days shoot and you will have a inevitable mess to edit. .

The bottle holder is in an odd place, though that's minor. Venture One was going to do this about ten years ago, but that didn't work out too well. The electric Carvers are not so good, probably worse that this in terms of ride, acceleration, and range. I wish them luck.

How is the Heater in the Nimbus??? Is it good enough for 20-30 degree weather??? How long does it take to heat up the Nimbus??? i don't think this Nimbus would be good enough for snowy weather with the kind of tires it has on it. It is more of a summertime vehicle to get around town in. Don't know if the Nimbus can be locked up with the doors attached. Too many things to learn about it. However, since they are fairly local to us, we may check in again with them in the near future. Thanks for watching!

Well of course it is not a family type vehicle with one and a half seats! Duh! Motorcyclists can use snow tires with studs or even spikes when needed. It is no challenge to design the heater with variable power output for heating and defrosting such a tiny cockpit. Covering the Nimbus when snow is likely, with a snug cover is so easy because it is so small with no protrusions. The safety of driving this on ice and snow is much greater than with any 2 wheeled motorcycle or scooter. That's not your problem, the question is how cold resistant the batteries are. Below freezing it would be smart to store and charge them indoors and not expect to have much power when they are cold. In Florida my concern is the AC.

All 50 states have different laws for autocycles and most are way overdue for an update to include this new class of vehicle. Some still require a helmet which is silly. Some still require the MC endorsement which is also silly for this design. Check your state first. I just did the rental pre-order.

@@gx12 You can't get an Arcimoto with warranty service in BC. They are offering some used ones now as Arcimoto updates its rental fleets with 2023 models. But you gotta have a way to get warranty service or it can become a useless scrap pile on wheels. An EV repair shop in BC couldn't help you much without the proprietary Arcimoto diagnstics and parts list. Seems like I do recall one BC buyer who trucks his FUV back to the US for service. Elio is a joke about a past folly in which they accepted pre-orders but never went into production. You can search for videos on Elio. The Electra Mechanicca Solo also ceased production recently.

Arcimotos get a very reasonable 80 miles at 50 mph. I have had mine at 84 mph one time to test the limit but after 16 months I have still never run the battery down more than half way. @@popeyegordon Interesting. I talked to a guy who I met in a parking lot getting in his FUV maybe a year ago - maybe 2. He told me he was lucky to get 40 miles range on the highway. This was in the SF Bay Area. eg: Not cold temps. Here, you can't do 50 on the highways. You'd get rear-ended or shot, and there's a minimum speed limit. I'd go insane driving 50. I do a comfortable 65-75 all the.time, like most people. The speed limit is 65. For. me, 40 mile range on the highway is a deal breaker. If I want to stay closer to home, I can use my ebike. Or my Bolt EUV. The FUV is for "fun", but that includes going up and down the coast, and that typically means 55-65 on Rte 1, at least. 65-70 in spots. My sister lives down the coast about. 55 miles. If I can't make it to her house, then it's a desal-breaker. Battery tech will improve. I can see something like this in 5 years, maybe. I do like the Helix, as well - and it gets...200 miles? 150? Something like that. Granted, they haven't started production, still.

@@knotatraitor Now you have talked to a guy with a 2022 Arcimoto. I say your guy was lying. I have done 40 miles and got back with a 55% charge. Arcimoto commuters do more than that regularly without having to charge at work. You absolutely CAN do 50 on highways and have a positive effect on traffic as you get them to slow down to a sensible speed, while obeying any minimum speed restrictions that are typically 45 mph. Nothing is comfortable about 75 mph. That's called acclimatization to a hazardous condition. Route 1 is routinely driven by slow motor homes taking in the view, and many bicyclists. I have driven it 3 times. Route 1 in is notoriously NOT a fast highway and is curvy as hell. What you are insisting on is having it YOUR way only, forget everyone else including the sister you are stealing resources from, plus all future generations. Your ilk will be put under control by a Draconian carbon or mileage tax. Responsible people get the prodeedings from the penalties you will pay until you can't afford it any more. Then and only then will you wake up to your own responsibility.

No way. I'm an FUV investor but it's a totally different class of vehicle. The FUV doesn't lean. Huge difference. FUV has motorcycle-style controls, is super long, and the cheapest version is $17,900 compared to the cheapest Nimbus which is under $10,000. The Nimbus One is under 14K and gets to 75mph, and probably has more range than the FUV (don't know details yet). The important bit here is that the Nimbus leans into corners, as it should be, and this allows it to have a much shorter wheelbase. Plus, it's fully-enclosed with doors on.
