@ this is just a test train, which is why it’s going slower. Unlike the P32s, these will be able to operate at the same power and speed in electric mode as in diesel mode. Also they can operate on third rail power for as long as possible instead of just for Manhattan.

As much as I love my Genesis locomotives and I'll miss them when they go, these Siemens locomotives look good to me.

@@Locotech42 I grew up with Genesis locomotives so it's a big sentimental thing with me, I can never get enough of their chugging sounds and the WHOOP. I'm sure the SC42-DMs will perform well. The P32s, P42s, and P40s will eventually ride into the sunset. But I'll cherish the last few years we have with them. Hey, at least I can say I experienced them in person over the years. Thanks for chiming in & for your work on these locomotives.

I can see the Hudson Line in Train Sim World 5, but the SC42-DMs are unlikely. They're not in service yet, and I doubt Dovetail Games would get the specifications to make them in the game, and release em. P32s are more likely. SC42-DMs probably won't be in widespread service until this time next year.

That's probably the most requested US route they haven't done yet, though New Haven line is also often requested. Though knowing DTG they may just do Hudson Valley line to Croton Harmon with only M7As and M3As and no diesels. They only run Harlem line to White Plains and with only the EMUs.

P32s make up a large part of Hudson Line trains, but like you said, I wouldn't be surprised if they took the easy way out & kept it with M7As, and M3as. Only time will tell, and I hope they prove us wrong. On the other hand, the Harlem Line with electrics only makes sense. I think there are only like 2 or 4 trains that use P32s. So it didn't make sense for them to put the resources in for such a small amount of trains.

Siemens Charger SC42-DM propulsion sounds exactly like the R211s

The carrier frequency for the asynchronous PWM portion seems to be about the same at 420Hz (nice) The Charger has a ramp up from 100Hz to 420Hz at very low speed, the R211 however does not. Another small detail is that the R211 uses an Alstom OptONIX inverter and I think the Charger uses Siemens SIBAC if I'm not mistaken?

Probably not, I doubt they want crowds of railfans & foamers at train stations after dark. Those who know are unlikely to post it publicly for strangers to see.

Railfans are the last thing they have in mind. Those who know probably don't want to break the trust with those who told them. The rest of us will just have to wait, and / or get lucky.

Chargers all have a top speed of 125mph, but max speed for Metro North on any of their lines is 80mph. These were probably run up to 125mph during testing in Pueblo, but max they will do in service is 80mph, they will probably run them up to 90mph during testing to certify them for 80mph operation on MNs network.
