wow, that was nice! I've been looking at epoxies to repair a chip in the edge of the toilet tank, the only other thing I would have been interested in is, comparative hardness... some projects want a more flexible result, for some... like repairing ceramic, need an epoxy that dries hard. Thank you, very useful! I will be looking at the other videos... and wondering if I should try the nail gel I sometimes use for a sealant for shrink art projects, sets in UV light. ok, if there were more videos, I can't find them.

@chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf38525 жыл бұрын
The ones supplied in the syringe type dispensers are, but they are mostly for quick fixes when you want it to stay where you put it to cure. "Table Top" types of epoxy are thinner to spread evenly and self level before they cure, but they take a lot longer to cure.
@jamaldarius72913 жыл бұрын
most epoxy brands that sell 1 gallon cans that you can find are usually more thick than big brands like Pro-Set but if you can only find one that happens to be a thicker viscosity you can use a blow dryer to warm it up BEFORE mixing with the hardener and it’ll make it more runny and easier to mix and apply to fiberglass

Uhgg when I was making the purchase I was indecisive about the original jb and the 5 min quik set 5 min set epoxy. I went with the syringe version as it seemed easier to handle and apply... So I get home and I was kinda inpatient and started my project before I let my car cool down completely (my project was to fix a broken off inlet hose piece of plastic on my thermostat housing which is plastic) so the car was still very much warm as was the piece to repair, I followed all instructions applied it, and NOTHING, it will not turn into the gel state it just stayed syrup consistency it wouldn't even hold itself together, so I scrapped the whole thing removed all of the kb weld and sanded the two pieces and started over when the car was cooled, still nothing I thought I didn't mix enough so I thoroughly mixed the jb weld and tried again ... Still nothing .... Waited over night and tried again and by this point I'm severely disturbed that this is not working for me, as I need my vehicle and I have place I need to go. And that's where I am at at this point just stuck on what to do. WHY WILL THIS STUFF NOT WORK FOR ME????;ANYBODY? IM GOING INSANE TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT

I been looking up why the epoxy I bought was impossible to squeeze out the tube. I've never used it before so I didn't know what was going on. Guess it's just way past the expiration date or something. Everything I see on videos is a gel that comes out of the tube very easily. Guess I just need to take it back & buy some from somewhere else.

I'm a year late here but it being super hard to get out of the tube means either the resin got contaminated at the tip, or more likely that its just an old tube. Resin will "freeze" (crystalize) as it ages. Placing it in a hot water bath (I forget the exact temperature, like 135 Fahrenheit I think? Basically hot tap water) for a bit can melt it and once it cools it will remain melted for quite some time again.

Pulling back on the plungers after use tip alone is worth the price of admission. I have a project where I need to glue two pieces of work that don't want to come together due to warping and I have to hold the work by hand until the epoxy sets. So 5 minutes is better than 7 minute. I figure I can hold the work together for about 15-20 minutes before I'll grow too antsy to remain with my vice-like grip holding everything together. 6 minutes to the "gummy" stage? That does me no good. I need 5 minutes to equal the hard-as-a-rock stage. Per this test I'd say the Devcon is the epoxy for me EXCEPT it's tensile strength is the same as Loctite's 1 minute epoxy: 2500 PSI.

No, it won't fill the crack, stick to the surface, or make a tight bond. There are specialty companies that will do a repair, but you are probably looking at a new tub.

Epoxy probably won't stick to the type of plastic used in gas tanks, and if it did, the epoxy would get brittle from the gas exposure pretty quickly. I would not recommend it.

@chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf38524 жыл бұрын
I have not tried the Gorilla brand, but most epoxies have a "Working time" and a "Cure time". They will set up in 5 minutes and be hard, but don't get tack free for hours. It may be more of a marketing issue than what you are doing.
