Depends on the seat material, but let’s be honest…. A very high percentage of all non-fleet trucks never do truck things and their owner’s hardly ever put anything in the bed. Just like most SUVs never do S or U things. Just a dumb trend by US buyers.

@JohnNick72 Very true! I like the practicality of a truck, but I don't do truck things all that often. I think insurance is part of the reason people buy trucks when they don't need them. I had a modified Dakota r/t because a v8 car is too expensive to insure. 😅 That Dakota was just pure stupid fun. Lol

You guys keep mentioning that it’s not that much bigger, but 3 inches in track width is quite a bit. I’ve taken my gen 3 on trails where that certainly would have caused problems. It also means it would give me 3 inches less space in between cars in the garage, which is significant. Otherwise, I do respect that Toyota listened to our concerns and addressed most of them.

I had a chance to get a new 2024 Off Road TRD but I like the smaller Gen 3 trucks that don't have a turbo 4 engine that won't have the reliability in the long run. That big screen sized 'laptop' looking crap on the dash in a distraction! I bought a new '23 TRD Off Road, all the bugs have been worked out over the years and it probably will be more reliable than any New '24. ~ This is my 3rd Tacoma and may be my last, the '23 model will probably outlast me.

When you bring up engines the opinion is true, V8>V6>I4 because the V8 had the same milage as the V6 but with more torque, but both are more reliable than a turbo I4. In my opinion if your going to throw in forced induction you might as well go diesel. You get efficiency, power AND reliability, cant really beat that.
@PatrickLindemann22
@PatrickLindemann22 4 ай бұрын
Would love them to make a diesel one. Seems diesel is basically exclusively used in heavy duty domestic pickups in America now. It’s been knee capped by all the emissions restrictions for sure, surely that’s part of it. Forced to have all these complex emissions systems these days. My family has cars with both the old 5.7 v8 and the v6 (2013 and 2021 Land Cruisers, 2022 4Runner) and yeah the fuel economy is no different. That v8 is just perfect for its application, sad to see it go.

I'm all Toyota, but my current '23 GMC 3.0 Duramax has 310hp and 495lb and it hauls, plus I'm averaging 27mpg empty and 21 towing my 2400lb trailer which a new Tacoma would drop down to 14 mpg. Fatigue? What the heck, are you both 90 y/o? I've been driving the 3rd gen since 2006 with a manual transmission and never do I get fatigued. I guess I must be one of the few that enjoy the 3rd gen with the V6 and manual transmission. I will say that I did get a 2020 with the power driver seat which definitely helps. I drove a 2006 for 10 years and loved it. I wish they would have kept the 4.0 V6. That is the only draw back to the 2020. The 3rd gen works well as a daily driver and for long distance travel, example Colorado to Ontario, Canada. Your primary audience will appreciate your enthusiasm for the 2024. The 14 inch screen looks out of place in the truck. I guess I'm old school and will be happy with the 3rd gen for years to come!

I purchased a brand new 2022 Tacoma SR5 2WD A/T V6 with 11 miles on it in Barcelona red. It was towards the end of covid and no one had any vehicles on their lots. I happened to luck out b/c some guy had ordered this Tacoma and couldn't pay for it when it came in. I just happened to show up the next morning looking for a used Tacoma, and to make a long story short I purchased the 2022 Red Tacoma. I traded in my Ford Escape and with a low interest rate I was able to buy it. I love it. It was exactly what I was looking for but didn't think I'd get. It's the best 3rd gen. truck with a a great V6 engine that purrs down the road (I've had 4 cylinder Turbos in the past- no thanks.) I wouldn't want to pay 2024 Tacoma prices for a small turbo engine. I'll keep it's my lucky red V6 truck w/only 9000 miles on it now. I have to say that the 2024 Tacoma SR 4 DR A/T would be my choice If I had to buy a new Tacoma b/c the new SR5's aren't as well equipped as the 3rd gen. models like mine. There aren't enough reviews on KZbin about the 2024 Tacoma SR crew cab A/T which will probably be the best selling Tacoma b/c of it's affordable price. 🍀✌🏼❤💋🌵🛻🌵🛻🍀👍🏼😁

I love my 3rd generation Tacoma, but when pulling a trailer at highway speeds, the engine is always screaming and that automatic transmission doesn’t know what to do. The new one should theoretically trailer better. Maybe Toyota has got me used to outdated technology, but the one thing I noticed in the new one that is perhaps the most exciting new feature is… the rear window defrost.

@thirdpedalnirvana
@thirdpedalnirvana 4 ай бұрын
I highly doubt that. Soccer moms have moved on from body on frame trucks and now they want Grand Highlanders. I think the big loss is the infinite durability of the truck. Direct injection turbo 4's are just being pushed too hard between power needs and emissions requirements, they won't be driving around in 20 years. At the same time I'm happy to see a 4cyl back, the classic mini truck to me is a 4 cyl not a V6

Why do you guys hammer on the old powertrain like it is inherently sluggish by design or 6 isn't enough speeds? That's not what happened. The old tacoma's transmission was electronically nerfed to qualify for government money (EPA emissions) without resorting to auto stop/start. If you rewrite the program with OTT or Kdmax, the problem magically goes away. There are two things you can sacrifice to get higher emissions numbers: performance (transmission programming) and longevity (turbos, stop/start).

Also, compared to the 2017 4Runner I used to have, the Tacoma is not as comfortable... Will I regret not waiting for the 2024 Tacoma? Only time will tell, but the 3rd Gen is still a super nice truck. A lot of people re-gear the Tacoma axles and that makes a big difference. The 6 speed is a double over drive transmission, re-gearing makes it so you don't need to Rev the engine out.

A tune, or any aftermarket part for that matter, does NOT inherently void your warranty. The Magnuson Moss Federal warranty act has protected consumers from manufacturers doing this for decades. For your warranty to be voided, a manufacturer must prove without a doubt that a modification directly caused a failure. They cannot just void your warranty because of something you installed on the vehicle, tune included.

The current Tacoma does vibrate on the highway. It’s like massaging seats. 😂. traded in my F150 for a Tacoma for gas mileage but I miss my F150 every day !

You must not live somewhere that you drive around corners quickly. Tacomas are nearly as good as a sports car on a Canyon Road. Fords make you think you're gonna die when you touch the steering wheel.

Dude what are you talking about? Vibration on the highway? Tacomas are most pleasant driving midsize truck your money can buy, plus you have the best reliability in the segment I’ve tested ranger, colorado, frontier, neither of those can compare with the smooth stock ride of a Tacoma. You must be a Chevy or ford guy. 😄😄

Nah the new frontier is a pretty smooth ride hard to beat. The hydraulic body mounts make it very isolated along with all the sound deading and sounds proof glass. And it's reliability is already proven with that motor.

You guys went too easy on the new one. The detachable center speaker is an incredible gimmick I would be somewhat embarrassed to own in a truck that should be focusing on replicating its legacy of simplicity and reliability. Maybe it's just a silly trim thing.

if toyota REALLY wants to assure us that this four banger with a turbo will be just as durable as the vaulted v6, they would give the tacoma a 100k mile powertrain warranty........RIGHT?

Whatever, sticking with my V6, 4.0. It's a truck, im not trying to buy a sports car. Has plenty of power, torque, reliability, and most important , no mechanical issues to worry about for 300K miles. Suckers can buy the overpriced 4 banger😂

Sorry that our discussion and debate style doesn't work for you. On this channel we do reviews in a style similar to our podcast "the Car Debate" which is one of the larger podcasts in automotive. Our other KZbin channel (/EverydayDriver) has been around far longer than this one, and is larger. It has a different two-host back and forth and focuses on comparisons. Glad you found us and we appreciate your feedback. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, nope, don't like it, not even a little bit, this new one is best suited for those pickup drivers who never loaded anything in the bed, just bought it thinking a truck makes them look cool. Not sure how that turbo torque would push a 550 galon water trailer backwards through muddy ruts, throttle response and big screen equiped too, does it come with a pair of stilettos for the modern man too, or is that an option?

These guys are nitpicking like a bunch of princesses it feels better it looks better get over it people don't spend $60,000 on a truck because it looks better or feels better you spent $60,000 on a truck because you want it to be reliable because you want it to last you 30 years and if it means being a little bit less comfortable a little less pretty but it's going to last you 30 years sold now why would you spend 60,000 on a truck because you can say you have a pretty truck you can say your truck is more comfortable has more features to Break by the way it has a turbo that is going to break down and it is going to cost you money it's not going to be cheap officially after that turbo is all worn out think about those four little cylinders is it going to be worn out too turbos push those little four Bangles way too hard is there just small mortars they're made for small things small jobs like pushing a little car it just doesn't work the reliability will not be there did will cost money down the road 3.5 V6 perfect mortar and it lasted way too long bad quality in the truck let's put some garbage in there so it doesn't last so long !!!!

You guys are too nice to the 3rd gen truck. The transmission isnt fine. The torqueless engine isnt fine. This drivetrain is lazy at best. Reliable to a fault but everything else about the drivetrain is terrible. Payload on that long bed is barely 950 lbs. Thats awful. Im sorry i have to disagree with your assessment of the 3rd gen

Proudly built in Mexico 🇲🇽 by skilled workers who are paid $6.75 a day. That’s a day, not an hour. Toyota should be selling this truck for 12,000 because it cost less than $5,000 to build 😅 good luck with that 4 banger 😅

Well definitely the new one will win in a drag race but hands down the old one will win in reliability the new one just looks so cheap more garbage features you don't need it's just more computer stuff to break down it just looks so cheap interior does look nicer it has a snow machine motor in it 4-cylinder Turbo that is such a big joke you can laugh all day about it they know that the four cylinder is weak and pathetic in a truck so they put a turbo in it to make that motor work extra extra extra hard to pull that big truck yeah that makes a lot of sense keep the forest cylinders for the cars people a truck should have nothing less than a 3.5 V6 if it wants to be a real truck but we know that Tacoma for 2024 is a joke it is a joke and a disgrace to the old Tacoma the old Tacoma go to circles on laps around that piece of junk it out last night you want a million times over no brainer here!!!!!!

I wish they would put no effort into making improvements I wish they would leave the V6 there's no replacement for cubic displacement take a small block Chevy versus a big block no comparison even the newer ones you get those big Pistons makes a world of difference gas or diesel hook a heavy trailer up to it and watch it fall on its ass they need to just leave things alone once they develop a good 6-speed or whatever and it's tried and true leave it to hell alone they've got to quit putting all these electronic gadgets and all this electronic bulshit on these trucks $60,000 for a Toyota Tacoma are you shiting me that is absolutely absurd I wish somebody would send me $60,000 if they're just going to throw it away absolutely ridiculous no one should buy them and then they'll get the hint and maybe they'll put the price down to about $30,000 which is where it needs to be stupid stupid price
