How about a well-specced 4X4 dual-cab ute for less than $50k, with a 10-year/200,000km warranty? There's no doubt the Mitsubishi Triton is great value for money... but is it any good?

For working ute will remove tub and install tray and toolbox for me don't need another safety fancy feature. Also still can pick the kids up from school and 4wd on weekend. Little triton will do the good job with excellent transmission and reliable 2.4L engine.

Notice you did not mention the vibration damper that hangs infront of the diff. Did you have any issues with that hitting the ground and bending? Its the one thing that is really putting me off getting a triton. Cheers

can you change to 4H difflock while driving? I think 4L you need to be stopped?

is the ute okay to put a baby seat for a long 9hours distant trip? would it be comfortable?

At normal bitumen driver - no problem. In heavy terrain no car will be good for it. :)

how's the headroom for the driver? I sat in the new D-max today and I felt that the seat was in the right position but the wind screen could be a little taller - didn't like that, I'm no giant with 6'1'' / 185 cm

I struggle to see traffic lights in many cars because they have such poor seat heights and adjustability.
