I've been loading the Sub-X for 2 years now and have taken a lot of hogs with it. My load of CFE BLK is 11.8 gns with a CCI Mag primer which yields 1065 fps avg with an SD of 9 and 1 inch groups at 100 yds.

@Operational AF I seat mine to CBTO of 1.550, using the Hornady 8-30 insert. That gives me about 2.065 OAL, give or take .001 or so. Yeah it's hard to measure OAL with a polymer tip.

These look like a great option to try out! My current sub sonic plinking load for 300 blk has been using Missouri Bullet Company's 238 grain powder coated bullets with 11.0 grains of Vihtavuori N120. It definitely helps having the 300 blk specific pmags for those missiles. With an average velocity of 1070 fps from the 10.5" barrel those rounds are carrying 600 ft lbs of energy with almost no recoil. It's fun!

The load that works the best for me after weeks of testing using bolt action and several AR platforms in 300 blackout loaded with sub-x bullets is 7.8 gr of Lil Gun. I have harvested many wild hogs with that load with zero issues. Just bought a Iray Rico Bravo and that is a huge game changer for hog hunting when you own the night. I agree with several other comments that a faster twist rate might be the ticket for the "gel exiting." It might help with expansion too. Another idea would be filing the nose of the HP bullet to give it more opening for fluid entrance. I would really be interested in the results of that.

Some guys say absolutely no, don't use sub 300's for deer hunting & other guys say it's fine & they use & drop deer just fine. My buddy has tried using sub 300bo for deer this year. All 3 deer he shot with subs all ran & could never be found, no blood trial or anything! All deer he hit with supers went down. I'm using 308 ar10 for deer but wnated to assemble a 300bo upper to use also mostly because I have a can on the way I can use on it.

I did a side by side comparison using H-110 and CFE BLK. Shooting from a 10.5 " suppressed barrel, the difference in SD was very apparent. With comparable velocities, the CFE BLK had SD of 6 with the H-110 showing SD ranging from 40 to 21. I live in an area with extremes of temperatures +90 to -20 and an elevation of just less than 3000 MSL. Because of that, I wanted a FPS in the 1050-1070 range. CFE BLK 12.3 grains was the sweet spot for me.

Cfeblk should probably only be used if you have a picky gun that won’t cycle subs with other powders. it only works well with compressed loads which is annoying for some projectiles. It has the highest charge weights for less rounds per lb, and it generates more gas in the face than anything else. My gun runs 242gr coated cast with 7.5gr lilgun or 8.5gr h110 at 2.05oal. 8 lilgun and 9 h110 with 208elds at 2.15oal is another favorite. Good accuracy and SDs too.

@spyderxtra777, it’s an effing terrible powder! I’m just glad all these yahoos are buying it instead of the powders I prefer.

@@donrichter3523 eh I don’t know if I would say it’s terrible, it just has a very limited application. Being: 300 blackout subsonic loads, ONLY for rifles that have trouble cycling subs, AND only if you are willing to screw around with overall length to insure compressed loads. Currently I use it for my bolt action 300blk, I make sure my loads are compressed and I get great accuracy with it. And gas in the face isn’t an issue with the bolt gun. But I probably won’t buy more when I use it up.

Wonder what would happen if these were shot at super sonic speeds would they just fly apart or just explode on impact?

Have you experienced any unburnt powder in the reciever with CFE BLK?

I'm not sure what powder hornady uses, but with their factory loaded 190g subx. I had a lot of un burnt powder And this was in a cva scout (break action). I use 9.5g of 1680 with these bullets and get full burn. Very accurate and as quite as they should be, but as noted with others. There are better options for shooting anything made out of meat ( with subs ) Maker bullets my go to for hunting.

@@Ultimatereloader my neighbor is a SOT and he builds a bunch of guns so he has all the machine guns and stuff so I'm always over there tinkering on guns and I get to shoot the full auto stuff pretty often... You're 100% correct it's a ton of fun and I wish more people could take part in it!!!

Using my Palmetto state Arm, AR pistol with a 7.5” barrel, CFEBLk 12.5g, CCI 450 primers. Starline brass. 2.050 Oal, I got 1059 ft/sec ave . 20 SD But using my Sig mcx 16.” Barrel with the exact same load, I got 1225 ave ft/sec Both guns had the same Nomad 30 silencer So the 16” barrel took me slightly super sonic I like the sub x bullet a lot
