Yessir, you can. Many of the techniques used to catch musky can be employed just as effectively for pike. I like to target larger pike with 5 to 8 inch bucktails or smaller bulldawgs.

Where i live its all pike, i have to drive at least an hour to get to any water that houses musky. Downtown Toronto has alot of Monster pike and January to February is the best time to cast for them if youre after a really big fish. I throw shadzilla JR's, reg shadzillas, big 10-14" glidebaits, etc. During this time of year they want a big peice of rubber slow rolled on bottom

James is my favorite, I'm sure you taught Doug Wegner how, but bruh... watch his figure eight with a longer rod and a stone cold poker face...that sh#t is unbelievable!

Guys are throwing Double Cowgirls with number 10-12 Blades and Pounder BullDawgs (16 ounce weight) on 9’ or longer rods. When they hit about 50 years of age, they are hitting the Doctors for new shoulders, Rotator Cuffs and more. Last trip in 2022, my biggest Muskie (51”) hit a 3/8oz. Kalin Rattlin’ Google Eye Jig tipped with a 4” Berkeley MaxScent Bait. My point is, Fish Smart, Not Tough. Be well.

Hello. Great video and info thanks. Can I ask are you right or left handed? I ask as you seem to play the fish with your right hand, but also crank with it too?

These guys are kinda poor on figure 8'ing. If you want to see it done effectively, check out vids by Joe Bucher or Pete Maina. Generally, as the lure approaches the boat, you'll do a change of direction, downward and 90 degrees left or right and by sticking the rod down in the water. Accelerate the lure thru the turn as you make a circle or a figure 8 pattern. Watch Bucher do it!

wth is figure 8????someone tell.me lol nvr caught a musky lol but pikes yes
@traviscook72317 жыл бұрын
Figure 8 is just what you see them doing when they get their bait up next to the boat. A lot of times big musky will follow a bait all the way to the boat so by making an 8 or a circle with your bait, instead of just pulling it out of the water, you give the fish more time to hit the lure. Basically it's just extending your retrieve.

uuummmm. What's with your figure 8's??? Looks like half those fish would have ate if properly executed!! Just keep it up dude, I've caught 2-3 minute figure 8 muskies.

All I'm saying there Bud is that I have caught somewhere between 155 to 160 musky's, 22 that where 50' or over. Not saying I'm better than the linders (maybe at figure 8's!!) by any means, watched them for years and they are great! If you watch more current videos of Jimmy, you will notice has changed his 8's tremendously with better success! just sayin!

I think they know how to figure 8 properly. James is in the freshwater fishing hall of fame for christ sake. Your numbers are made up as well.

Honestly, I didn't find this video very useful. Throw something big and different. Learn what keys your lure has. I partially disagree with part of that most of the time. If you guys want to chuck 12 ounce rubber at pressured fish all day, have at it.

pike are stupid u can use anything to catch them haha. and there easyier than muskies to catch :p
