This is just a little advice for the people in this channel. You have great content but when interviewing people you should do less talking and more asking and listening. Make your guests the focus more. They spend most of the time listening to the interviewer here. Just trying to help.

+Ron Jaxon Was about to say the exact same thing. If you've got an expert, let him talk.
@JD2jr.9 жыл бұрын
+Ron Jaxon I agree, but Norm is very, very good at taking little bits of information from people who aren't very good at interviewing and elaborating on it, asking prodding questions, and the like. It sounds like he's stealing the spotlight, but usually he's very good at explaining what he already knows to the audience and getting the things that need to come from someone else out of the interviewees.
@n00b1n8R9 жыл бұрын
441meatloaf so much this.
@Srcsqwrn9 жыл бұрын
+441meatloaf This is what was annoying me the most. Basically him explaining to the guy who already probably knows how it works. I just want to hear the guy talk about his work, and the interviewer is just spouting off. It would be better if there was a separate commentary if he really wanted to say something. This whole video was a bit redundant, because Norm could have done this on his own and basically gotten the same result.

my guess as to why the shell was so thick is so it could create more distance between the magnets causing less friction during movement. This is probably why it was so wobbly when they put it in the clear shell.

Sometimes to be an interviewer u must interrupted the guest talking because to avoid extra time or to avoid they talking out of topic (just in case). Sometimes the producer put the headphones to interviewer so the producer can give instructions when the interviewer must interrupted the talk to allow commercial break or to avoid extra time.

Just a thought, the thicker shell could be there to slightly reduce the magnetic connection between the head and the tower inside the Sphero to allow for smoother movement. Which could explain why the Sphero BB-8 (with its new shell) weeble-wobbled more then it did with the original ball shell.
@erlendpowell74469 жыл бұрын
+Danon Alexander Could they not have just used a weaker magnet instead?
@danonalexander75829 жыл бұрын
+Erlend Powell Ya, they could try changing out the magnets. However, it would be much easier to just add some layers of (for instance) scotch tape on top of the magnets; until the thickness of the scotch tape layers & the thickness of the clear shell are about equal. Then it should resume behavior.
@erlendpowell74469 жыл бұрын
Danon Alexander My point was that the original shell wouldn't have been thicker to reduce the magnetic field, because they would have been able to just use a weaker magnet when it was designed. In other words, the thickness probably served some other purpose.
@erlendpowell74469 жыл бұрын
Danon Alexander That said, you're probably correct that the new shell had issues due to the new distance from the magnet. Not sure how your scotch tape idea would help though...
@danonalexander75829 жыл бұрын
+Erlend Powell You're right you could still switch out the magnet, however manipulating the thickness of the shell plastic is considerably easier to get the desired effect then to find a different magnet that would give the same desired behavior. & ya your right, scotch tape probably wouldn't be the best choice.

The BB-8 Sphero clearly has electronic stabilization. Notice at 8:55 when they begin talking about the method of stabilization that the stage model uses, as Mr. Senna turns the toy, the inner working vehicle of the sphero is self correcting on the yaw axis. This indicates some type of sensor feedback is causing the inner vehicle to move to correct the moment. Its likely that it has sensory feedback for the pitch and roll as well. The weight at the bottom of the vehicle is to counter the moment of applying torque to the outer sphere. Without weight on the inner vehicle located below the center point of the outer sphere, the shpero have no ability to overcome even the slightest of grades or smallest of debris, nor would it be able to begin moving or come to a stop on its own. The inner vehicle would simply roll with or do loops inside the outer sphere with little effect on the spheros movement across a plane. If BB-8 featured in the movie used only this method of propulsion, it may yield some ineffectual results in space away from strong gravitational fields.
