The amount of work that went into a film that wasn't particularly well received is incredible, it was the same with the 47 Ronin armour.
@Danirio965 жыл бұрын
That movie was absolute trash. I watched it with good eyes, but there's nothing good about it. Power Rangers but in China.
@PaulMab95 жыл бұрын
Jernau Morat Gurgeh that’s just how it goes, you know? This is true with everything. As I have heard said. Hard work does NOT ensure success. But hard work, perseverance, forward thinking, and just the right amount of ambition can make it much more likely! But even then it’s never a sure thing. It’s a little disheartening sometimes, but that’s just how it goes.
@Danirio965 жыл бұрын
@@PaulMab9 in today's blockbuster system, everybody works hard except the writers and star movie actors. Then we get almost technically perfect exercises bud overall quality films. Also, the Great Wall was a good example of Hollywood trying to get into China (there's was no plot, just China pride) just as Aladdin for the middle easterns around the world.

I don't know if this is the same for anyone else, but after watching these videos (Adam going through Auction items and his armour, especially the series where he crafted the Excalibur armour) I've gained such a huge respect for the hard work that the costuming and prop department go through to make these films. Even films I didn't enjoy, I always take and second and just appreciate the world building and just sheer volume of hard work these people put into their craft to make these world's feel real whilst making the actors and extras as comfortable as possible.

Oh wow, I'm actually in the middle of building a Ming dynasty armour. A non-prop one, made of metal. The "triangular maille" is called mountain pattern scale, named so because the scales look like the Chinese character for mountain: 山. They slide under and over eachother, leaving only the three pointed star figure exposed, which this prop is emulating. The reason it's only emulated is because those scales are a pain to fabricate. You can trust me on this one. Great to see this here, Adam. I'll go check out that film and its props. Cheers!
@jessmac18935 жыл бұрын
Redmar Kerkhof thanks for sharing that info! Awesome
@notfeedynotlazy5 жыл бұрын
Just offering independent confirmation that "mountain armor" is a PITA to fabricate. Even if modern CNC cutting makes it far easier, it's still VERY time-consuming to assemble, so small wonder they just emulated the looks.

I’m also making a chinese armor from the Song dynasty but made from cardboard.
@caesarzhiyuzhang58054 жыл бұрын
Just FYI there is no evidence backing up the name of this thing. The original source does not describe how the mountain pattern armor look and the triangular shaped stuff is called "suozi" in another original source and it is more of a design pattern than actual armor.
@RedmarKerkhof4 жыл бұрын
@@caesarzhiyuzhang5805 That is good to know. The more I work on this armour, the more I suspect they didn't actually use 山 shaped scales. It just makes no sense. Your comment seems to reaffirm that suspicion. I knew there was no archeologolical evidence for the stuff existing but it's interesting to learn that even the name is distputed. Though I suppose it's not surprising. Could you tell me how to write "suozi" in Chinese characters? It might help me in my research. Thanks.
