You've got to appreciate cosplayers so much when you see props like this. Everything looks so good on screen, and cosplayers always look a bit low budget and silly. But really, when you see the actual props that were on screen you realise that the cosplayers gear is probably way more detailed and well made than the actual props. They just have the benefit of movie magic on their side.
@chamoo2323 жыл бұрын
Movie stuff is made fast and only supposed to last for the duration of filming. Fans making their own costumes and props put more effort in them and obviously want them to last. That said any fan made stuff will also look like it's falling apart in 30-40 years.

Just watched an Adam & Fon reminiscence, where they discussed the prop ethos that if it falls apart as it's removed from the stage, end of shooting, you did just the right amount of work. Same episode they discussed how that ethos isn't supported on big fanbase sequels (possibly more generally) because there's now an expectation of exhibitions, collection & history that wasn't there back when. Both expectations exist in the cosplay space, but better, higher cost always comes with details & durability expectations.

The look on the Brandon’s face when Adam starts spinning the lightsaber. 😂 Very odd seeing the Anakin saber with a red “blade” and Obi-Wan’s looks more like Luke’s from ROTJ. True story: I came across a Starwars (A New Hope) poster that was genuine. Apparently used back in the day from a theater, and the video distributors would get posters from the studios to re-purpose for display. I was able to snag it (staple/pin holes in corners) and frame. It is a Type A-Sheet. Also, some years back, won an ebay auction for a Revenge of the Jedi poster (unfolded-no creases-shipped to me rolled) that was from an actual Lucas Films employee. Printed out the email correspondence and keep with the poster. FYI- Most of the folded Revenge of the Jedi posters were those of Starwars Fan Club members. The comments about him handling these things with his bare hands, I think it's also worth remembering that as much as he's a presenter he's also a bidder, and is well known to the company. The video is generating income but Adam is the customer of the auction house and letting him handle the face mask or the lightsaber is the best way to get him to really fall in love with it and say "I need that"

The ultra rare stuff like Chewies’ face should not be for sale, the should be protected at all cost. They should be in the Smithsonian or even frozen in Carbonite.

If I had the money to bid on one, it would probably be Lando's Helmet.

4:47 One thing that always bugged me about the modern liggtsaber fights is the way they're spinning the swords. The way they move it implies that there's weight at the tip but the story tells us that there isn't, it's just light.

I wonder if you could seal the Chewbacca skin into a block of clear resin to prevent any further degradation? Surely that would be preferable to allowing it to turn to dust..

They have a costume from ELF. I know they're talking about Star Wars, but think about this for a moment: Jon Favreau was basically an unknown as a director for that film. They gave him a chance, and he churned out a modern classic. And then he went on to do Iron Man. If there was no Elf, there would be no MCU. If there was no Elf, there would be no Mandelorean.

That's a bit of a stretch my Guy. To say that Elf is the reason that the MCU exists much less another stamp in the ever expanding to the point of it just being tired Star Wars saga... Lmao c'mon. Granted Favreau came from acting to directing sure but to say that another director couldn't have done Iron Man? Credit where it's due yes of course as I do like him & his work but to say if it weren't for Elf we'd not have Iron Mando .... nah bruh just nah. Edit: also what put that movie on the map was Will Farrell so are you also saiyan that without Will there'd be no Avengers? That's kinda like saying without JJ Abrams there wouldn't have been a Star Trek reboot. And yes idc that I'm mentioning Star Trek in a Star Wars based video on a dudes comment about Elf lmfao. I get what you're going for but I just don't think it really rings true. Falls flat as my Abrams comparison

….3:48 Adam says that Chewbacca is the greatest non-human character in film. I agree with that. I came to that conclusion late in the game. The first time I saw The Force Awakens I came to that conclusion, in fact. Specifically, it was when Chewbacca literally witnesses the death of his best friend. He displays anger and grief, as anyone would…and then immediately makes a long range shot and does get a combat effective hit on his target. A true warrior.

As a child I was lucky enough to meet David prowse. Albeit he was appearing as the green cross code man at my school but all we were interested in was Darth Vader in our assembly hall 😁
