Hi Adam, I am a developer at Fidlock. I am very happy to see our products on your bed roll. It's always cool if we get mentioned because buckles normally are nondescript parts of products. Developing products to perfection is hard but fun. :D

Hi. I've never heard of fidlock before. But I do a lot of camping and backpacking The buckle for me will often be the deciding factor on whether I buy something or not. I even try swapping out ones I own for more effective ones. Just saying to the right person what your doing is the linchpin to a product. And deffo never overl looked

Absolutely love Fidlock products - wish it were easier to buy in my country (Malaysia). I often swap out the buckles on bags and pieces of kit for fidlock ones because of how much they improve usability. Thank you and your team for the great work.

I do R&D for a cut/sew shop in Wyoming, it's awesome to see textiles showcased in your episodes. They're so often overlooked but so much work goes into designing and manufacturing textile products domestically. Kudos for using local manufacturing instead of outsourcing to China, the higher price is worth every cent.

As somebody that has made more than a few bedrolls, bivvies, and hammocks for camping it's nice to hear you found somebody that taught you a bit first. When I started I jumped in feet first and had more than my fair share of very expensive lessons. Back in those days you either found somebody locally that wanted to sell you their products and die with their secrets or read a book that might not even be relative to the area you are in.

I keep a few staple comfort items in my work truck in the event of a breakdown or some other situation that necessitates having to boondock in my vehicle. It consists of a bed roll, a convertible poncho/one person tent, bag of Tea Candles with terracotta discs and perforated Progresso Soup Can for heat, another progresso can for melting snow, bullion cubes, tea, sugar cubes and beef jerkey. The whole kit fits neatly in a modified Gerry Can with a hinged top that stores flat in the bottom of my trucks toolbox. Always be prepared Folks! Zip~

Love the bed roll and the material. Only suggestion would be where the handle is. You should consider moving the handle so that when it is rolled up no wool edge is exposed to the elements it will help to keep the wool dry. It is all in the way you fold and roll it to have just the outside material always exposed to the elements.

Ordered. I still have my UK Sailmakers duffel bag that I purchased 25 years ago at the Strictly Sail show, but a bedroll is something I need! When I did concerts, I used to take a sleeping bag and nap under the stage between sound checks. As a TV station engineer, I used to sleep on the couch of the studio set during heavy snow storms, to save me a treacherous drive to work. I would have been a lot more comfortable with a bedroll like this! It looks ideal for making my pickup bed into a capsule hotel.

Your wool supplier sounds like a very smart businessman. He understood that if you went ahead with your initial order, the product you made with his wool wouldn't have been a good product. If your bed rools don't turn out well, you won't be placing future orders from him. By educating you on how to best use wool in manufacturing products, he set you up for success and himself up for a repeat customer. Most companies don't consider the long-term effects of selling someone a product they believe will not work best for the customer. They only want the current sail. At most, they might be hoping they will have to come back for the right product.

I used to have a Pendleton wool bed roll, that I added one of my gabardien blankets from the barracks. Great combination of warmth and non-itch. I too kept mine in my car for 20+ years, (five of them being in the semi when I did over the road trucking). After a heavy blizzard here in ND, I helped the kids build a snow cave. Unbeknownst to me, my wife took my bed roll out of the minivan and let them use it for the floor covering. While the kids thoroughly enjoyed the snow cave, for nearly three months before the roof collapsed, it would be another three months before I noticed parts of my bed roll sticking out of the mud and slush. Needless to say, the entire thing was a complete loss. Even the leather straps were moldy. So, yes. When you have more available, I will be buying one... possibly two. 🤔

I was able to order one of the V2 bedrolls the day they released and it came in a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I might be weird but Space Cowboys is one of my favorite off the beaten path movies. My dad enjoys it too and my favorite line from the movie is the banter "You're a damn fine engineer but you don't know jack about politics." And the glorious flip to "You're a damn fine politician but you don't know jack about engineering." My Dad was mostly self taught or learned on the job as a civil engineer so that movie hits a special place in my heart. Also I could totally see Eastwood giving out a very modern but cowboy gift to the staff. We got a new truck recently and I wish I could add this to our stash. Keep up the amazing work!

Great video, great product! I see the passion, the love and the enjoyment in all you do! Years ago, I bought a bedroll made of canvas and you had to provide a separate wool blanket. The idea was that you slept fully clothed and you'd stay warm throughout the night. To that, you added a low-temp sleeping bag and camping pad if you wanted, but in my opinion, by the time you got it all rolled up it was huge, heavy, and expensive! I finally sold it to a real cowboy friend of mine that rode cattle drives. I always wanted to be a cowboy, but that's another story. lol But, it had a unique feature I'd like to share with you...hint-hint. It had a flap that folded over and sewn to make a place for a pillow so that you could take a jacked, sweater, etc. stuff it in there and you now had a comfy pillow for the night. I'm guessing that you can take your bedroll, lay it out and fold it over yourself like a taco, right? If you took it a step further, added a little more fabric, for a few bucks more, you could probably do that too. Anyway, I love your bedroll because it seems the perfect weight and size for travel and not the size of a circus tent as mine was. BTW, I live in Ventura. "Life is short, live it with passion!" - Cuno

That brings to mind the recently released Vespa Primavera "Pic Nic" special edition - which is basically a standard Vespa, plus a bedroll-type rolled up picnic blanket, a rear basket and some additional /upgraded trim pieces - at a hefty price premium (and with a rather oddly kitschy name thrown in). Your bedroll would appear to be substantially higher quality than the one Vespa includes, and a great way to achieve the same functionality without paying for the special edition. Just one more addition to your list of potential uses for this item... Thank you!

As a frequent user of bedrolls I think this is a great product but for one change. I always have an additional blanket and deflated camp pillow rolled up inside the bedroll. It appears I wouldn’t be able to do that with this product as the straps are fully extended already. If the straps were 15 - 20 cm longer it would allow for my use case which I believe is fairly common.

I think that is a brilliant item and I want to buy at least two - but I think I will wait for the second version that is much wider. This looks like I will spend my whole night (I am not a skinny person) trying to grab the top piece and tuck it under myself to form a wind barrier, just like I have to do with traditional wool bedroll blankets. Sure it makes a great sheet, but the weatherproof side is designed to be a ground sheet that you sleep on top of and there just isn't enough material left to go around me.

Just bought the second version of this bedroll and I am looking forward to many years of overlanding with it.
