For anyone watching, depending on your professional level, and desired outcome. I would suggest superglue instead of contact cement for immediate seating so you don't have to wait 5 minutes EVERY single time you have to glue a seam. Then you can come back before assembly and cover the inside of the seems with cement, or hot glue. (just my 2 cents, I'm not that patient or professional)

And so it begins. When Frank announced his departure, I hoped Tested would collaborate with Bill. When I saw "foam" in the title of this video, my hopes were renewed... And sure enough! Tested and Punished Props are my two favorite maker channels, so I look forward to more like this. EDIT: Because it's an FAQ, Frank announced his departure on a Tested video in December. His own business is booming so much that he can't split time any more. So it's really a good thing, although of course still sad to see Frank go.

Adam and friends, I’ve seen your tool organization/storage obsession and mold making. There are tons of videos showing mechanics cutting out foam to fit tools in drawers, is it possible to pour silicone in a drawer full of tools to do the same thing as the foam?
@dylanheadrick3789
@dylanheadrick3789 6 жыл бұрын
jay west That actually sounds pretty interesting. I'd imagine you'd have to soak the tools in mold release to prevent them from the silicone finding it's way into all of the joints, but it be quite a nice fit and pretty satisfying to return the tools back to their spot.

The problem is that the tools will be in the *bottom* of the drawer, with the silicone between and *above* them. Your tools would end up like the bits of fruit in a creepy jell-o mold. And hinge tools would drive you nuts forever.

I love seeing parallels between build processes and materials. Bill rough cutting the foam and fine tuning it with the Dremel is very similar to they way Adam uses his knife sander with the different radius wheels to fine tune and edge of say wood or sometimes metal. But then there are nuances to specific materials like foam. Techniques you learn from using it over and over and trading info with others. I'm sure there's a bunch of others I got one of those see through metal edged rulers in my Maker Box. Going to make sure it pull it out next time I make something from foam.

Aaron Blankenship - look for artificial sinew. It's pretty damned cheap.

this was easily the most helpful video for me! I'm making a cybernetic arm with detailed hands and my two favorite channels collabing to give me the tools and info I need is just to good to be true! I never thought of a dremel for edging and that is really helpful for a lefty with less than perfect cuts! I really can't express my gratitude enough, this really gave me more inspiration when I needed it most for such a daunting first project

You guys need to do a show together. The chemistry and level detail in your explanation of the process of making the glove was amazing!

I love Adam's excitement. Even if he has known all these tricks, you'd never know it from how excited he is.
