It has wheels. The only way it can passively balance is if its centre of mass is below the axis it pivots from. With the funny camber, this can only be described as "the line between the centre of the plane of each wheel through the centre of its contact patch on the ground". It looks like there's a tiny bit of the body below that, so the model boat trick (lead shot mixed with epoxy poured in) might work. Possibly a better way to make it passively balance would be to add weights which drop down to the inner side of each wheel (or within each wheel) but are rigidly connected to the wheel hubs. This gives you more distance below the axis so you can use less weight to balance it. This also allows the body to be entirely above the axis it pivots on, which makes the illusion of it defying physics a lot more convincing. Then moving the weight forward or backward by adding weight to the afterburner would only make the robot look up or down while balancing, and can't make it balance. Passive balancing would be great, because then it works as a desk model, can be driven around with low acceleration using a regular RC control system or can be driven around fast with an active self-balancing control system.

I’ve really come around to the philosophy that Adam talks about where things “reveal” themselves to you throughout the creative process, instead of trying to force something into existence. It’s affected my short story writing in a great way. It’s also fun because it makes it okay to not know the answer when someone asks you something, because it’s almost like the answer is there somewhere but even you, the creator, don’t know. It gives a particular sort of life to a world.

I was expecting a single piece static model but the result was truly impressive, this is one of most incredible videos on the channel, i can imagine a full working prototype made with all tested team like the star field series it would be amazing developing all the parts and fit the electronics in there. For those who wonder how much a 3d print shrinks it depends of the printer itself, the band, the model and the type (if it’s a resin, pla, nylon, etc), but as I’ve measured various models over the years the average shrinking distance it’s 0.02mm, it could seems a trivial thing but on small models and precision tasks like tread a bolt it can be important consider make slightly bigger holes on your model

I like that the little guy has sepeperate suspension for each wheel so he can LEAN into a curve when speeding down a hallway or over a road like real cars tends to do. Lean into the curve to take it faster and cleaner. Really nice attention to detail. Sincerly, a car mechanic.

Very cool design, I would have never thought to make the suspension like that.

Great video and droid! Based on an old vintage Massey Ferguson tractor or similar I hear piston noises and steam hisses when it moves - Fabulous job guys!
