@@francoisfranceschini7947 the fact that "science shows" and "science adjacent shows" are gone, and the closest now are more of a "vaguely references science" still bothers me. I mean yes now we have youtube and all (and streaming services > cable), but content should still have some intellectual aspects. Even (some) kids shows used to have a science theme and be at least kinda right with the science (at least thematically). I haven't studied tv content trends, maybe society just had an awake decade before going back into sheeple mode. And since i've already gotten off track, i'll quote the end of the hacker manifesto as it is on topic with thinkers vs those who dont. "we've been spoon-fed baby food at school when we hungered for steak... the bits of meat that you did let slip through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We've been dominated by sadists, or ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us will- ing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert. This is our world now... the world of the electron and the switch, the beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying for what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering gluttons, and you call us criminals. We explore... and you call us criminals. We seek after knowledge... and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals. Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like. My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me for. I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual, but you can't stop us all... after all, we're all alike."

I have to dispute the absolute that cats cannot be herded. During my childhood, we had a miniature collie and 3 cats. Without training, the collie instinctively knew how to herd, and when it was time to bring the cats back in for the night, telling him "get the kitties" was sufficient to send him out looking for the cats, circling them, and pushing them to the door until they all came in. Watching his herding instincts in action is one of my fondest childhood memories.

@@katyungodly probably more to do with the cats familiarity with the dog - they dont get their heckles up over someone they've grown up with, and I have no doubt someone who owns 20 cats from their birth could probably "herd" them, it just wouldn't be the way we do it with cattle/sheep. Cats are just assholes.

We had a similar experience. We had four cats that we let outside in the back yard. When it was time for them to come in, I would find them and clap my hands while telling them it was time to go in, and they moved very obediently towards to door. They would hiss sometimes, or try to move in a different direction, but clapping and steering them always worked. I'm not sure if that counts as herding, but it's essentially the same thing, and very possible.

I have a baby cat too. 2 years. She does not tell me. But I make sure to carry her. She cries and goes for a nap in my arm. All 3 of my cats were like that. I only have one, but I told my family. If it was not for us. They would have lived on the street. The lady was going to let them go. She asked my aunt if she knew someone. They were small, and bald patches. Also, I had to cure them from ringworm. I took on the medical stuff at home myself, with help. They were a joy till the end😍

followup question from someone who is rewatching all the mythbusters episodes, did learning how to herd ducks also teach you how to get them to quack on command, so that you could check for an echo without having to filter out the other duck's quacking. (I feel like that really bugged me about the myth of whether a duck's quack echos: the only way you found to get the ducks to quack was to make them talk to each other, but then it seems even harder than it already was to find an elusive echo over the additional noise caused by duck number 2). On a completely unrelated note, I do find it odd looking through the old episodes that in the intro, hyneman got the voice clip for both of you, with the narrator's introduction of you being followed by jamie saying "I always enjoy seeing adam in pain".

Based on Adam’s replies to other MB questions I’d guess it was 90% accurate. They didn’t fake anything, now some stuff was played up for the camera and many helped behind the scenes because of the work required and time allotted. In other words- do able, but way harder then the TV edits lead you to believe. I hope I’m not wrong because I love me some duct tape! And JB Weld too.
