This is pretty cool. Rick Baker is an unbelievable talent. CGI has it's place but movie effects are so much better when they're organic.

I was about five when I saw the first Gremlins movie for the first time and I loved it. There was always an element of comedy, yet I was scared of the Gremlins. I haven't seen that movie in a decade, at least.

Am I the only person who finds this whole auction thing to be a bad idea? Because if you sell them off to random people, these genuine props are going to be lost over the sands of time. I'd say that instead of holding auctions, we should instead put them in museums or safe storages they'll kept forever instead of spreading them around which they'll end up forgotten.... Oh well, I guess it only get's to show that most people don't give two shits about history and preservation which is why they'll end up repeating things like the Alexandra, Mesoamerican Library burnings and such. I just hate seeing history being destroyed and lost forever....

These items go for loads of money. So it’s not like any random fan can buy it. If your willing to drop thousands and thousands on just one of these items, then they’ll probably be well looked after. Nobody is going to spend that much then just throw it in an attic.

Every time I see something involving Rick Baker I just gain more and more respect for the man. Not only is he an absolute genius who never seems to stop innovating, but by all accounts he's just a really warm, great guy. I'm sure that auction is bittersweet for him, but it's awesome that those iconic props will now be in the hands of diehard fans and collectors.

I remember the film with a bit of love and regret. Love because it brought back to life the fun and amazing creatures that the first film had and regret due to time I had to realize that this was the last time I would see Gizmo in a new film. I loved Gremlins as a teen and was so happy that they made a sequel. I have watched the films many times on DVD as well as seeing them in the theatre when they came out. Thanks for showing this video on Tested always a fan of Rick Baker. :))

I remember watching Gremlins 2 and not giving a single thought to the multiple versions of each character that needed to be created. Of course... why don't we just have one version and melt it or blow it up or... D'oh! Incredible focus of talents to make the magic happen. Thank god for that "for lease" sign! Would love to get one of those catalogs! A great documentation of cinematic history.
