ADAM, I'M KIERNAN, I HAVE BEEN TELLING PEOPLE THAT IF COVID GOES MUCH LONGER, THERE WILL BE A MARKET FOR SPACE SUITS THAT HAVE AR GLASSES, AC, STEREO MUSIC, STIL-(ALA-1983-DUNE)-SUIT .. It would help people explore post covid world, while pseudo preparing for life on mars.. Also lookup non-euclidean geometry games and consider the opportunity for stage performers that need work post-covid.. Also, have you heard about deepfaking, imagine if you could legitimately license a popular actors likeness, and hire impersonators to create a realtime performance art where you interact with anyone from a theater production, to elderly stage performers and such using V and deepfaking to make it possible.

I can imagine a headline in the not too distant future: "There were amazing scenes at the NASA Space Museum in Cape Canaveral when it was discovered that the original Apollo spacesuit helmet had been swapped. It took a few months to discover the helmet swap...' The next Adam Savage Tested stream has a very smug Adam front and centre pleading the 5th... :)

This is amazing! I am so envious right now. But one thing has always bothered me about this suit: the silhouette is a bit off, because the shoulders and neck are a little too droopy. The A7L has an internal pressure suit that adds a lot of structure, especially around the shoulders and neck. Given that Ryan's suit patterns are accurate to the original (or nearly so), it should be trivial to just add a bit more batting (maybe it will make it a bit hotter, but it would be totally worth it!) or something underneath to stiffen the shoulders and give the upper torso just a bit more structure. Do consider it! Otherwise, you are living the dream man
@alexsmall57324 жыл бұрын
So at some point, we can expect Ryan to just deliver a flat out fully functional space suit, right?
@grayeaglej4 жыл бұрын
We would hope. I mean you would think that recreating something based on seventy or eighty year old technology using modern materials, adhesives, and tools shouldn't be that difficult. :/

I feel so lucky to have been born when I was. I grew up during Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. I saw most of the missions on an old black and white TV, including all of the moon walks (well, except for Apollo 12 and 13, and some people will know why). I wanted to be an astronaut so badly, but back then there was no program to join for that. The closest I came was to launch model rockets. I always dreamed of having a space suit just like this one. Adam, you truly are living the dream. Every time I watch your videos I wish you grew up near me, because I know you and I would have been the best of friends as kids.

Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchison Kansas has restored and displays the Odyssey capsule from Apollo 13. There is a gala this November for the 50th year with Lovell and Haise among others attending. The sold-out dinner is black tie optional so I think Adam would be so dapper in his spacesuit. The conservation team might have a suit to which you could test fit your helmet.

Somehow I think a build in the near future is Adam making a portable ventilator unit to match the ones the astronauts carried on the way to the pad. And, for what it's worth, the blue connectors are the input and the red is for the output. Adam has it backwards by having the air come in the red connector.

Fun fact: that air distribution system in the helmet is use almost unchanged in modern EMU's. Less fun fact: Its that through that port that water made its way into Luca Parmitano's helmet during his aborted space walk. The water soaked into his cap and eventually started to fill his ears, eyes and nose before he could get back to the airlock (which he could barely see by that point, if at all) to safety.
