Testicular Cancer Survivor Tells Story, Discusses Awareness

David Finklang, 27, went to the doctor after experiencing pains in his chest. The surprising diagnosis: Testicular Cancer. He was treated by medical oncologist and testicular cancer specialist Bruce Roth, MD, at the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. Finklang shares his story, and Roth discusses testicular cancer and treatment. Both encourage young men to be aware of changes and follow up if problems arise.

I Was a really good artist in high school . my art teacher put me in a program to further learn FX. Sadly my parents from Mexico said no. I have to work to feed the family. no school. I missed schalorships, and fre rides. ended up living now with two exwives. Now let me tell you my cancer story, I was 18. I knew something was wrong, I could feel it in my lower gut. that dense pain in my right nut, I read about it and I knew. When I went to fight fires again my test came back. In short story, I was given 6 months to live. I was 20 years old and a virgin. I survived out of 15 in my ward. I was told I would be sterile. I am 52 a proud dad of two children Antony and Samantha from two different women, and a Grandpa. Believe man. fight .

i survived stage four mediastinal germ cell tumor, last may. It's inspiring to see others survive from it as well. considering how rare mediastinal germ cell tumor is in 18 year olds.

Very happy to know David is now 10 year-cancer free. You can check his Facebook. In fact he just wrote on the 20th of December his reflection on the entire journey from day one. So inspirational!

I was diagnosed with T1 testicular cancer last march luckily I had it removed along with my testicle and I was given the all clear at the end of march

Hi Willferox: David was diagnosed with primary mediastinal germ cell cancer, and according to his physician (Dr. Roth, who is featured in this video), there really is no useful staging system for that type of cancer. Patients are typically treated with chemotherapy, and all fall into a “poor risk” prognostic classification.

I'm really curious to know what exactly one feels when having testicular cancer. Some of the points shown in the end, like some enlargement of one testis or any rare pain on the testicle happens to the most of men (it's what I've heard by some docs). I'm 32 and I've had my insecurities about my (right) testicle a lot of years back since. Though, i never had any appointment to any GP doc, mostly because I'm afraid of hearing something bad, also feels a bit embarrassing. I had some chest pain for some days the previous month but i (and my cardiologist) linked it as a post covid symptom and/or a gastrointestinal problem caused by covid and medicines. I'm surprised that a testicular cancer can hurt the chest 🙄 if anyone knows exactly, ia it possible to have testicular cancer for like 10 straight years without having any real problems beneath?!

@@whatislifebro I can safely say yes I was I can only suggest strongly that you get it checked out with your doctor it will give you peace of mind I had to go for a ultra sound scan and was found to be a cyst please do get in touch with gp ASAP if you are really concerned all the best
