You use those evaporative cooling products in somewhere like Florida, and you'd tear it off in 10-15 minutes because it would never evaporate, and it would just become hot and soggy. They're terrible in very humid environments. In 70-80% humidity, you walk outside and you're instantly sweating because of all the water in the air.
@Firsona4 жыл бұрын
Same around here. I went outside the other day and the humidity was 100%...which I thought meant it had to be raining, but apparently not... X.x I wonder if you went with something that was more just the menthol and less the evaporation idea?

I think Florida may be more brutal than the desert. Sweating does nothing but make you disgusting here, no evaporative cooling at all.

Non-paid review. Purchased to use on a daily basis while working in the summer kzbin.infoUgkxLaBdDhW8qNMDGbjLY54iyU3q9BJydYRP blowing into safety glasses so they don't fog up. Comfortable wearing around the neck. Not heavy at all nor does it slide around much. Easy to turn on and off. It's a solid construction with a slight flex in the middle. Doesn't feel cheap although the body is made of plastic. The battery currently runs over 8 hours on the low fan setting and takes USB C plugs to charge. Noise level is fairly mild and wind strength is good even in low setting. Only down side is if you wear contacts, it'll dry out your eyes since it's blowing up into your face. I flipped the vents down but this doesn't help de-fog safety goggles when I'm sweating. Definitely worth it over other fan types.

The Ice vest works wonders. I did insulation removal for a summer. I was in an attic for up to 8 hours a day with breaks every hour. One attic I did was at an average temp of roughly 130 degrees Fahrenheit. The first week was without the ice vest and the following week was with the ice vest. It made a world of difference. If you work in hot and confined environments. I would def recommend a cooling vest. So worth the money. Also you can just make your own for half the price.

Just an FYI, my wife has MS, and she has two cooling vests that she was given by one of the associations that are battling MS. They came with multiple gel ice packs, and in 95 degree plus heat it lasts about an hour before it gets to wet to wear comfortably. It is a godsend for people afflicted with that disease. So the vest giving you an hour of reasonable comfort isn’t bad.

Wooohooo! For a long time didn't have a very effect AC in my house in the northish-east coast. It got pretty dang hot during summer. I "invented" the "coolest" thing. I bought a bunch of long sleeve thin t-shirts. I soaked them in water and put them in the freezer. When it gets really hot, I get one out, pound it on the floor to loosen it up and put it on. WOOOOHOOOOO! With a good fan it's like personal AC. Works well outside for a short bit. I did see this used on a TV commercial sort of. I forget the product but a guy comes in to his apartment during hot weather, pulls boxers out of the freezer and puts them on. The tag line was that's how it feels to drink their soda or use their mints... forget what the product was. I never tried boxers but the frozen tshirt works great.

In Florida if you touch some stainless steel furniture or a step barefoot onto a piece of aluminum it will feel refreshingly cool for awhile in a hot room. I googled it once and I think it was that the metal absorbs the heat from your skin but after a while it is saturated so won't have the same effect. On the ice pack vest I bought just the ice pack to experiment with and, believe me, blue ice last a lot longer. Medical grade. It is often used to keep medicine cool when shipped to customers. The vest was actually tailored and looked no different that a regular sleeves vest or waist coat. (black outside with a blue inside). The difference with the cold shoulder it was advertised (rightly) as a Weight loss process (specifically to force the core body chest/gut) to colder and thus trigger a fat burn. But during the summer I found them great, and yes after 90 minutes it would be melted, but by that time, the key point or bringing my internal CORE body temp down so that the cool effect lasted a few more hours after that. (great to put on about 30 minutes before bed, then take it off/freeze again, so you go to bed with a cool core). Was also designed/sold by an actual nasa scientist

fun fact: humans dont have nerves to feel wetness. we only trained ourselves to learn the temperature change and the texture of wet

Isn't learning the texture of wet the same as feeling wetness
@luckyworm24004 жыл бұрын
@@erickt1974 learning to feel texture of wet I mean the patterns, the feeling of it on clothes is heavier. put your hand in water and you can feel the difference in pressure and currents. feeling of water droplets is the pattern that it sits on your skin with the temperature change. ig we couldnt feel temperatures you could feel wet either

That would explain why I have a hard time telling if my jeans are wet or just cold in winter when I take them out of the dryer too late lol

Yes! It’s not humid unless your glasses steam up when you walk outside.

I was in Vegas last week lol i was hoping I would see yall at the park. I grew up right down the street from that park u are at. Im in texas now and evaporative cooling doesn’t work here. It just stays wet all day but the sun will just make it hot and wet so it’s awful. When i was in Vegas it was such a relief to be in dry heat, its about 98 here in tx but it feels awful but in vegas ot was 109 and I barely busted a sweat, and yall are so lucky u dont have mosquitos!

Bought a cooling vest that uses some type of freezable solution in the pockets, very similar to what's shown. Lasts 6-8 hours depending on the situation. Works great in most situations except under suits, which was a selling point for me. Living in the northeast in a humid environment the condensate just drenched me under the suit. Cost $300. A bit much but I have M.S. and can't tolerate the heat so I went with it.

The cooling stuff seems like a rip off of icy hot pain spray. That stuff makes the area really cold feeling

Some of the military guys use these things called ice plates. You fill them with water, freeze them, and them put them under your back plate. As the ice melts doubles as a camelbak.
